"Hi..."
"All your stuff is totally where it should be. And your bank account is just how you left it, too."
Anyone else had this and managed to unpick what's causing it?
Thanks!

Is it the boot with no prompt the part that is bothering you? Or was there literally text as you described on the fingerprint scanner and home screen? Is there a 0% chance that it was not in sleep or no-one pressed the button to turn it on? In any case just restore to an earlier point, and run ccleaner/malwarebytes or something else. Make sure java and flash are updated blah blah blah. Or just format.

A few days ago, my installation of Windows 10 (actually both installations on both my machines) seemed to install an update of some sort. I deduce there was an update because when I booted them up I got extra screens in the startup process (like the ones you get when you first upgrade to Windows 10): ![]() This was followed by a similar screen saying something along the lines of: "Windows has updated, all your files are still where you left them". Since that day, Windows 10 is taking around 10 seconds longer to reach the desktop after I swipe my fingerprint or enter my password on the lock screen. On both machines. It used to take perhaps 3 seconds, now it takes around 13. I did not manually install any new software (and even if I had, it wouldn't have been the same software on both machines as one is my personal laptop and the other is my work desktop). I did not update any drivers (and again, two completely different machines with different hardware). All I'm trying to do is figure out what Windows has done that's slowed the boot so significantly. With hindsight I should have stored a boot log from when the machines were behaving themselves, but it's a bit late for that now. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.
