Hello everyone,
I haven't blogged in a while and given the stage which Esports-Betting.pro Nation Wars is at, I would like to focus this blog on the event! So, basically, this is a "What if" preview, it's not an official preview obviously as the playoffs start 2 weeks from now and not next week. This blog serves two purposes, it gives a really good example of how the playoff bracket will be formed and it also just updates everyone on where we are heading into the last week of the league.
Pool A Sweden 6-0 20-3 40-8 Canada 3-2 11-8 25-17 USA 2-3 8-10 17-21 Peru 0-6 0-15 0-36 Pool B Poland 5-0 17-3 35-13 European Fusion 3-2 12-9 31-18 Germany 1-4 6-14 14-34 France 1-4 6-15 14-31 Pool C Russia 5-0 18-0 36-2 Hungary 4-2 13-9 29-18 Baltic States 2-3 7-11 14-23 Bulgaria 0-6 0-18 0-36 So, what would the playoff picture look like from the above standing? Qualifying teams: Sweden, Canada, Poland, European Fusion, Russia, Hungary.
Top of Bracket: Sweden (1st Seed) Bye
Hungary (4th Seed) European Fusion (5th Seed)
Bottom of Bracket Russia (2nd Seed) Bye
Poland (3rd Seed) Canada (6th Seed)
The biggest story in this bracket is probably Poland and Russia being on the same side of the bracket. With this bracket, my prediction would be a Sweden vs Poland Finals. The bigger question is: How can the final week of play affect this bracket?
Important Matches:
Canada vs USA This match is actually not likely to yield any change in the standings, it is more for placement. Team USA can qualify and overtake Canada with a 4-0 victory, any other scenario will lead to Canada's advance. The score is very important for Canada's placement however. Currently, only 2 set wins separate 6th from 4th. In advancing 1 position in the standings, Canada would find themselves on the same side as another 2nd place finish earning them a significant advantage in the quarter finals.
Poland vs European Fusion For this match, only a 4-0 score is significant for Poland. With any other finish, Poland holds the 3rd place seed in the event heading into the playoffs. If Russia loses their match, Poland holds second seed with a win in any fashion and first seed with a 4-0 victory.
European Fusion on the other hand is simply playing to retain their seeding. A win would guarantee their spot in 4th or 5th whereas a loss could see them falling all the way to 6th position depending on stats.
Russia vs Baltic States This match for Russia is very straight forward and has no real attachments to any other games being played. If Russia wins in any fashion, they earn the top seed, if they lose in any fashion, they get the 3rd seed. However, if Poland loses their match, Russia can afford to lose as well and still maintain a 2nd placement - At this stage, it would depend on the scores of these Nation Wars.
Predicted Bracket:
Top Russia (1st Seed) Bye
Canada (4th Seed) Hungary (5th Seed)
Bottom Sweden (2nd Seed) Bye
Poland (3rd Seed) European Fusion (6th Seed)
Predicted Finals: Russia vs Poland
Reasoning:
Russia has yet to lose a set in this event, this includes a set in which Sziky had participated. One can argue that other than that one set, Russia has yet to be truly tested.
Canada has a fairly easy match next week due to the fact that USA has little chance of achieving a high enough score to earn a playoff position.
Hungary can only drop to 6th position if both Canada and European Fusion win.
Sweden had a fairly good run throughout the round robin, they are one of the few teams that does not require to play next week. Their current score is their final score. This clearly defines the objectives that Poland needs to meet. This is feasible especially for a team such as Poland, however, they have the stiffest competition of anyone in the final week of play, leaving my prediction at a 3-1 Polish win... Enough to earn Sweden the second seed.
Poland has had a great run, however, they have dropped 1 too many games over the course of the season. If they do not win 4-0, they will be the 3rd seed. The required score will be an incredibly difficult feat against a European Fusion team which is also needs to win.
European Fusion has little chance of finishing anywhere but 6th seed, in order to get any better of placement, they will likely need to win their final game... Against Proland... Yup. This is by far the most difficult task any team has for the final week of play.
Thank you for reading! There should be more coverage at the end of next week. Please leave a comment down below with your predictions and let me know if there is anything you would like highlighted for any of the upcoming league coverage~

Yeah, that's the system though. To be fair, the outcomes were done the minute the groups were released - aside from Peru's somewhat surprising inactivity. It's not like USA, your team (no offense) or Hungary without their stars could really challenge anyone from the big names, the same way it was an up-hill battle against EF and Poland. To paraphrase Largo: "maybe if their players got cancer and died". Even only seeing how easy Group C and A were in comparison drained some motivation, but not all. At least we had kab to entertain us, which is nice, and Artanis, who will have to meet us in Nuremberg for his trial.
Anyhow, it'd would've been a hundred times smarter to just use a Swiss System to determine seeds. Playing the same people twice in reversed order just makes no sense. The funniest aspect is that EF might face Poland in the Elimination Grid (which is also a monstrosity born from over-complicated planning) for a third time. Gogo iFU-West, you might get lucky if you stab trutaCz in the back, cut of Julia's fingers (they're cold anyway) and drown Koget, ZZZero and who knows what else. Being about ironic, it really doesn't matter who gets #1 and #2, they will face each other int he finals anyways, unless Naugrim, vOddy and Marwin do some wonder work. I guess we all knew that from the beginning. At least watching the decisions and seeing Cele's reaction to it were amusing. My personal magic moment was the presentation of the uber-professional paint picture portraying the elimination stage. Reality beats satire every time.
Overall I give this event a 0,5% thumbs-up, but please not again with this kind of... uh... I don't say it, else 2pac will look at me funny again.
Also, davai davai Russkis, bum bum su4kas.

They did, I need to fix the stats. I changed the match already, but the stats are still messed up. It doesn't matter much to the overall placement though because they didn't win any sets in that match. So their stats are basically the same as shown with 5 games.

The system causes people not to show up. Please, tell us more. Hellscream was pointing out an error in the write up. You're writing another tale entirely and making it seem like he has the same idea. (not to say he does or doesn't, but he never voiced it)
Anyway, it's expected of you. So keep it up. There probably won't be another Nation Wars from me though due to time restrictions and how hard it is to get casters now. so yeah, request... Granted?

They do not offer bets, they are just a fan site basically which write news and give links for other bettings sites. There are no betting sites offering anything for this event.
