If it's not then it's written by a rather dull, rather unfortunate sexist who also happens to have poor writing skills.
Either way, it's not good.

I was thinking a bar down the street has competitions like that on all the good holidays haha. Satire just struggles on the page... needs a good orator to really bring it to life (Colbert)

IMO it's mostly just done for the competitors though. It's nice to have an avenue of competition that is a little more around your level, like amateur leagues in any real sport.

IMO it's mostly just done for the competitors though. It's nice to have an avenue of competition that is a little more around your level, like amateur leagues in any real sport. it's also done because females are made to feel so uncomfortable in male-dominated fields by constant jokes and harassment. ever join twitch chat while zombiegrub is casting something? every 20th message is "IS THAT A GIRL CASTING???" at best and "ZOMBIEGRUB IM GONNA FUCK YOUR TITS" at worst giving women a place to compete without having to worry about being "OMG That One Girl" is a way of encouraging the scene to grow amongst women. like you said, it's the same reason there are region locked tournaments and tournaments that bar high level players; to give the rest of the world a safe and comfortable way to get involved also, the conception that women are adulated and rewarded for playing starcraft at lower levels is ridiculous. the extra attention they get is not some kind of manipulative female design; it's a byproduct of the fact that tons of male gamers are creepy nerds who can't handle watching a woman take up a "male" interest without frothing incoherently at the mouth. if you don't want a master level girl to get as much attention as a grandmaster guy, then stop MAKING it a big deal that she's a girl. if people are tuning in to her stream to see her tits, that is the fault of the viewer, not the fault of the girl for being a girl. i personally love to follow female gamers not because i want to creep on them but because i think it's a fun and cool underdog story and a sign of changing times for women to be able to succeed in stereotypically male fields.
