![]() I had to laugh at "I can survive in any locations under any circumstances." though. lol. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_and_Afraid Naked, no food or water, isolated, and you and one stranger are allowed to bring exactly one item each (like a machete) and that's it... and you two need to survive for 3 weeks.

Random crap aside, good luck, have fun with your endeavours. PS I also do Taekwondo, but I'd be too insecure to go to the land of taekwondo and get judged by the best lol

When was the last time you met them? I meet my parents and sisters 3 months every year. Sure I miss them, but I Skype with them all the time. I am actually at my parents right now, came back to Sweden 2 weeks ago! I found this Cost of Living website! Seems very accurate! [Prices for "surviving" per month] Apartment (1 bedroom) Outside of Centre: 590.71 $ Basic (Electricity, Heating, Water, Garbage) for 85m2 Apartment: 210.52 $ ( too night for me, dividing with 2!) Internet (6 Mbps, Unlimited Data, Cable/ADSL): 26.77 $ Local Transportation Monthly Pass (Regular Price): 117.22 $ Food (my own calculation): 360 $ So the most basic stuff would round up to about: 1190 $ [Other stuff per month] + ~~ 100 $ for training + ~~ 300 $ for partying / events + ~~ 50 $ for taxi + ~~ 100 $ for random stuff So rough calculation for final price per month: 1740 $... Could anyone living in Seoul calculate on that? Sounds about right. Depends a lot on where you live and whether you're willing to go egg and tofu like Artosis did. Would obviously help if you had a Korean to help you shop around for a place. I supported my wife and baby on 2.4 for a year with no saving so you should be fine. Your food budget will also hinge on how much cooking you do and how much you miss foreign food.

Anyway I've been living in Korea for almost a year now(exchange studies at Yonsei) it's a lot of fun! If you're only here for a short while and don't care that much about living, goshiwon is always an alternative. You get electricity and internet included for 300-600$ a month but the room is super small. And if you want it's totally possible to keep your food and drinking costs low with kimbap and soju, so I would say your estimated cost won't be a problem. P.S. Hongdae is fun!

Goshiwon Hasukjib ![]() A goshiwon is basically a small room that mainly students live in to study. You have a shared kitchen and bathroom (if you don't want to pay for a private one) and utilities are included. Also some food is provided like rice, kimchi, tea, coffee and maybe eggs. You have to be pretty quiet in these places but they're in some good places, like near universities because most of them will be students. You can get a barebones one for ~$200-$300 a month or you can get pretty decent ones for $400-$600 a month. I might be planning to move to one in December when my contract ends. A hasukjib is maybe a bigger one so it may be more comfortable. I haven't really read much about them but these maybe two choices you can look into. http://wiki.everydaykorea.com/Goshiwon http://wiki.everydaykorea.com/Hasuk Basically that website seems to tell you a lot. If you want to meet people then maybe a place like this is a good idea.

Yes I remember that! That sounds cool, are you enjoying Korea? Is it cool =)? Yes! I've really had a great time, so it's a bit sad that I have to go back to Sweden in one week, now Uppsala seems kind of boring in comparison hehe. Also I lived in a hasuk the first month and it's basically like a goshiwon, but slightly bigger and you share the toilet on your floor. There's usually an old lady that cooks breakfast and dinner everyday, which is nice if you can actually be there on those times. For me the breakfast was too early or I wasn't hungry, and dinner I always ate with friends so a I think a goshiwon was more worthwhile for me(one with AC is nice over summer^^).
