I've decided that in order to help improve my writing, myself as well as some friends from the AnimeSydney group I am part of are going to start a food blog for all of our food adventures indefinitely. Let me know via comments if you've enjoyed this or not.

Fogo Brazilia is a relatively new (2012) Brazilian meats joint that has slowly expanded across Sydney. There is one in Bondi, Ryde, Merrylands and now finally in the CBD (Central Park). If you've ever been to a Guzman y Gomez (a Tex-Mex joint that I will cover this in a future blog), think of it as the Brazilian equivalent.

I went into Central Park on a Wednesday night after Anime@UTS's Fun and Games session. Tired of all the food court options on the upper level of the building, I decided to venture down into the open garden area to order myself some Fogo.

Fogo offer a wide range of Brazilian meats, such as skewers of beef, chicken, lamb and prawns, as well as salads and burgers. For my trip to Fogo, I decided to pass on a half chicken (too big!) or any of the mixed meat platters (maybe when I dine in next time and have them with some beers) and decided to take-away a Fogo Roll with Southern Spiced Beef ($12 with fries and drink, else $8.50).

My initial thought was 'hey, this isn't a roll'! Yes, I suppose you do associate the traditional word of 'roll' with the vertical bread that you get at Subway, but this was a minute point. That being said, why market it as a roll when they have a separate burger range? Doesn't really make much sense to me.

Regardless, I first tucked into the fries.

They were nicely seasoned with salt and assorted herbs, and unlike many fries from other places, these actually tasted nice and hand-cut (rather than store bought). Some were more 'mushier' in the inside than others, but expecting that from hand-cut chips - in the end were a delight to eat.

This is the Herb and Chili Mayonnaise sauce that I bought as dipping sauce for the chips ($1). Unfortunately, the sauce did not have as much of a kick from the chili as I expected, but still provided a nice accompaniment to the chips.

... and the king of the meal, the Fogo Roll itself. Inside appears to be a pesto paste, the marinated beef slices itself, lettuce and tomatoes (typical burger accompaniments). The bun was soft and fluffy that melted in your mouth. While I'm pretty sure it's just normal store-bought bread, it was a relief it wasn't anything doughy. The paste accompanied the beef slices very well - the beef succulent and juicy. The vegetables were nothing to wow about, but fortunately did not have that soggy taste that many burger places are guilty of.

In conclusion, I felt that the Fogo Roll meal is definitely worth paying the extra two or three dollars to eat in comparison to the food court rubbish you can get elsewhere. The meal left me quite filled up once I finished with it, which is always a good sign. I will definitely try and come back to try their churrasco options sometime in the near future.

TL:DR
Name Fogo Brazilian Churrasco
Locations Bondi Beach, Top Ryde, Merrylands, Central Park
Website http://fogobrazilia.com.au/
What do I grab? Fogo Roll with Southern Spiced Beef Meal ($12)

Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk that makes me so hungry.
There is a Brazilian restaurant type thing in Birmingham which i need to try out and this pretty much reminds me to do so! Brazil ftw with its meat <3

Those fries look pretty bad value though "/
$12.50 for like 18 fries? pretty bad "/
Steak burger looks pretty nice though, has some weird rabbit food on though that spoils it

Looks good, look forward to your blogs.

ps. The half chicken & mixed meat platters are what the restaurant in Birmingham is mainly around its all you can eat type of meats, Beef Chicken Pork Lamb etcetc which sounds what the mixed meat platter is about. DAMN i love meat :D

Shouldn't have looked at this thread. Now I'm drooling but can't eat. I'll go eat some bread.

Were the pictures done with a phone camera? If so, technology has come a long way

There's a few Brazilian steak houses here. I've only been to the one "Fogo De Chao" but it's an onslaught of meat. It's a bit pricey for dinner, though no more than you'd pay for a good steak at a nice steakhouse. However they do lunch as well where it's a lot cheaper for all the same varieties. They walk around and serve you whatever you like, however much you want. It's pretty awesome however, the quality isn't as good as some other places. You can go to a super nice steak house and get a steak that will make you want to punch your own mom it's that damn good, you're not going to get anything THAT good at Fogo but its far better than your average chain joint. While you might not get that god tier steak they more than make up for it in quantity! The garlic beef is pretty next level, though some people claim it's "too garlicy" there's no such thing in my book. The service is crazy though, with all the people walking around looking to make you fatter, people walking around asking if there is some meat you want in particular and flagging it over, and they do a good job of cleaning up the unbecoming disaster you might make as you go into a carnivorous blood lust.

I visited a Greek steakhouse for my brother's birthday and he wanted the meat to be "raw-ish", which is a thing apparently. I almost had to throw up, it looked so disgusting.

Raw meat is awesome. If you order a good piece of beef and don't get it medium-rare you're doing it wrong entirely.

He didn't get it medium-rare, he got a lower level than that.

Anyway, raw meat is for wolves, not for higher life forms.

Cool blog! just an fyi, but I am pretty sure the green sauce is chimichurri, which is basically finely chopped parsley, garlic, good olive oil and some other random spices.

You just gonna do restaurants, or will this include cooking too?
