A second Musical Demo

Hi TL,

So after my first musical blog.

I intend to get a bit more serious about Music and to create an EP, I have already recorded two songs and here the second one:

(Premier envol is french for first flight)

This time it is an instrumental piece with a main focus on guitare ( as it is my main instrument ) and I hope it will make you travel a bit.
We started the composition with some friends, but I did anything else by myself.
I put a lot of work into it and I am quite proud of the result !

I hope you like it too!

What do you think ?
Any (constructive) criticism is appreciated !

i like the song. but somehow it's not captivating enough for me

. missing a magic something. MAYBE thats just me. but i really do like the song though!

how do you write songs? do you focus on one idea and fully develope it until you move on? i started becoming serious with writing music too. my style is to quickly move on and write as many songs as possible so i won't get stuck with something that turns out not cool enough when i look back a year later.

not trying to teach here. just sharing my approach, cause i feel like i might be onto something.

in all honesty, maybe there's an audience for relaxed songs like this one. i just can't judge. really wanted to write a response though <3

EDIT:

ok, new thought on your song. i really really love what's happening 2:00 and onward. but the buildup is not doing it for me.

i know he's being semi-serious and yet there's some truth to it.

I guess for me there is two part of the writing :
any time I feel get a flash of inspiration I try to record it right away and to push the idea to the maximum, to squeeze all the juice of my inspiration.
I greatly fear forgeting the idea (and I often do ...), so I even bring a recoder at work and sometime spent half an hour hidden in the toilet trying to hum the idea as low as possible into my recorder (hahaha).

This is very instant instinctive work, so I move on very fast for this part of the job.

But I never get a finished song from that, so I start working more seriously to finish the composition, arrange it and mix it and for that part I can stay on the same song for a long long time (I want to have some finished work asap so I usualy don't work on more than two songs at the same time).
It might not be the best method though, it might be better to change songs a bit more to freshen your inspiration on a title.

I agree with Dave Hits are very often simple, bases on a good chorus ... After that you also got to enjoy writing this kind of songs and it might not be exactly my thing

dave suggested to make the whole fucking song a chorus :D. like i said, it's semi-serious, but i think there's an interesting message, even though i enjoy music with much more complex structures too.

guess what it means is "make the music captivating from the start" and i personally was may more captivated by the later stages of your song.

but meh, music and opinions. it all comes down to taste, i guess? so i feel like i'm not even remotely helpful here. sorry. nice song anyway.

believe me, I did tried hard on the start also

But no mater what, intensity will make the end more interesting, that being said I am not sure it would feel as intense without the slow build up ?

And thanks for your opinion, I really want to know how people I don't know react to it, this help me a great deal !
