Hi TL, well as most of you have been seeing mushroom season is in full swing. In my new home I'm literally stumbling across hundreds of mushrooms every single day and I am loving it lol. I try and only post edible mushrooms to hopefully steer people in the right direction but be warned, it is not a safe hobby. (I'm trying to make this somewhat of a legit record of the shroomies I find for myself  )
Also be warned, if you don't like photos then you'll hate me.
Anyway, onto my morning today . . .
I felt good waking up today, good enough that I felt like going on a run, which never happens. With that note in mind, this wasn't a foraging day, just a nice sightseeing adventure. In the mornings before it gets up into the 90s it's actually relatively cool, like in the 60s. I think this attributes to a lot of the new fruitings I see every morning, almost like a refresh button for the world of mushrooms.
So off I went runnin away, and right off bat something unmistakable caught my attention; A fairy ring that is in full swing!

There's actually two different mushrooms in this picture, the orange ones making the ring are the M. Ordeas, typical fairy ring mushrooms and are edible. The white bell shaped one up close I have on idea of the name and will probably make you sick  Onwards!

There were literally field mushrooms everywhere. Almost to the point where i couldn't help but step on them.. Take note, if you're going to go pick field mushrooms the poisonous ones will have their base (and sometimes the cap) bruise an extreme yellow color. The others are fine
That first picture is about 20% apples (the red), the white is all mushies.
But the real prize was what I ran into on this cherry tree in someone's yard.

A beautiful specimen of Chicken of the Woods. I'm definitely planning on going back there later and cutting off the edible outter rim.
I also found the fake truffle / poison look alike. I was so bummed when I cut it open to see it was black.. . I thought I had made $$$$$ for a moment

On my way home I saw on this tree a family of coprinus mushrooms. I don't remember what the exact name is, only that they belong in the coprinus family, which are all edible as long as there's no alcohol being consumed.

Now lastly, I have something that really weirded me out. I found some morels. Yes, morels...
They are only supposed to be fruiting in the spring, other times are practically unheard of. Yet I found some.
I know they're one of the best to eat, but I'm not going to eat these ones. I don't feel comfortable.
They are half-free morels, very good tasting (the ones i've picked in spring). These few I found also smelled pretty bad *shrug*

I think I'm going to try and keep this running thing going too, 3.5 miles every mornin should be better for me than sitting on my ass lol. Maybe the new mushies will keep me motivated.

My father in law has a secret chanterelle picking spot. Got some from them before
But I wouldn't trust myself to pick up mushrooms and know them to be not horribly poisonous.
Got some weird ones growing around the house. One of which is some kind of earthball I think, and another a heavy clump on a tree (seemingly eaten by ants?). Fascinating things.

so if you bruise the mushroom like push it at the base and it doesn't turn yellow it's edible?

How can you tell if it is a field mushroom

Here's how you tell if those white/brown mushrooms you see on the ground are your typical field mushroom (agaricus family).
The mushroom has gills and a stem, your generic mushroom
If the gills do not connect to the stem directly but rather are free
If the spore print is brown, light brown, chocolate brown, purple, or purple/brown
Now you've correctly put it into its family.
Almost every Agaricus mushroom is edible in north america except the ones that bruise yellow. (That is my region, you may have to double check depending on your region if any poisonous agaricus mushrooms exist. .. there aren't many however).
DO NOT EAT one that is ALL WHITE. Gills, stem, cap..

As you can see, if the mushroom you picked has white spores it is in the amanita family and most likely will kill you. Amanitas are the family of mushrooms that produce the infamous deadly toxin that kills. You want the same looking mushrooms but with brown spores.
Spore prints are everything,

I tip my hat your way to help you identify your own so you don't end up sick. It's very easy to see if the mushroom you picked will make you trip or puke just by checking the spore print.

You can grow the same mushroom on grains (or wtvr) and be completely poo free.

Yea. Again the cow manure thing is literally only because cows are fed grain usually. You can collect liberty caps (the mushrooms that grows near poo) and collect spores and regrow them on grain.
Most psilocybin mushrooms grow in really nice grass or landscaped areas with nice barkchips and mulch (cubensis). Stunzii will pop up on dead wood and shit.
Point being, the poo thing is a myth
Granted some shrooms do extremely well in poo, there are just always alternatives. Check out the PF Tek, super easy for beginners and you don't even have to grow illegal mushrooms lol. You can cultivate oysters and say shaggy manes relatively easy.
I wouldn't smoke hydroponic or aeroponic marijuana. It's impossible to use organic fertilizers that are in liquid form so the only way to feed your ladies is through synthetics. People say they flush their weed, but if you know a tad about plant phys you might realize inorganic materials are rather hard to remove from plants... I don't like smoking fertilizers

90% of the weed you buy from a street dude or a shop is going to be hydro or aero for a number of reason. I made up that stat, but based on the information I know about growing it faster and cheaper, I'm pretty sure good salesmen know it too. It's actually funny that you brought that up though, all the hippy resurgence with people talking about GMOs and organic foods. A large percentage of them are potheads, I always make it a point to bring it up when they are sharing nonsense. Most plants are also clones. hahaha

Sort of. It's not the greatest of stories but I do have one. Last year I had a buddy come to me with a handful of shrooms he picked. They looked like normal cyans to me which are really nice because they make you trip but without the stomach pains / nausea. I must have missed something because granted the trip was awesome, I had a serious bout of pain in my belly the entire time and so did my friend. A good handful of psilocyben mushrooms will not kill you and will not make you sick but another good handful of them also carry a toxin that causes stomach pains (hence the stories of ppl puking on shrooms). Figured it must have been a look alike, thankfully one that was still hallucinogenic and didn't kill us.

Most pot in dispensaries is either grown outdoors, or grown hydroponically because your yield just about doubles. And yes if you feed your plant nutrients in its last couple week of flowering it will grow exponentially. But that also goes back to my point of proper flushing and making sure all yo crap is out of your bud. Granted most people don't grow to smoke but grow to make money so this point is irrelevant to them; why would you reduce your yield at all? Fuck whoever smokes it right?
There's no such thing as an organic fertilizer that is a liquid. You can't get around that.
All of my ladies are in soil for that matter, and I'm not like the masses. I grow to smoke lol. My mother is extremely ill and due to this her immune system is completely fuckered. If she smokes any mmj with any kinds of synthetics or leftover ferts it makes a rather large difference in how she feels. I don't really care about making money, or yield, or how fast my weed gets sold, or any of that bullshit. I care that my madre is smoking marijuana that is healthy for her.
Like I said, each person grows for different reasons, and I don't like smoking poison. You should see WSDA's new list they posted for approved pesticides and fertilizers to be used for growing state marijuana. It's fucking horrendous; PGR's, synthetic chemicals, gnarly ass insecticides.... not pot I would want to smoke.
As for clones, most plants are from seed . It's only when you find the phenotype you like that you keep it around and take cuttings off of it. It's a trade off between having the genetics you want or having that sweet taproot (and avoiding diseases).
Hippies are going to be running this world soon enough brotha. The entire generation of youth is practically hippies by older standards. Regardless, you should be concerned with what's going into your body . The government has no fucking idea what's healthy for you and what's not.
