hi I dont know where to put this but when i looked at other topics regardig this, i saw that they were all in this area. so lets give it a shot.

i am a platinum protoss player and ever since i started playing 1v1 over a year ago, i have had this giant nervousity while playing. of course i get it before i start playing 1v1 (ladder anxiety) but whenever i am attacked in-game or i am attacking someone or i feel like winning, then my heart starts pounding like it is attempting to break trough my chest and fly off to narnia. my hands start shaking really bad which cause me to make micro mistakes. one game for instance i was going to attack and i killed one of my own collosi due to the handshaking. now i have heard alot of people on other threads say that it will go away over time. but is there any way i can reduce the amount of nervousity right now instead of playing games and waiting until i have done about 100. because it is kinda impacting my results. now the reason i made a new thread instead of posting in another one is because the ones i found are quite old and i dont want to bump them for a reason like this while i can make my own.
i hope some of you are able to help me out with this.
(btw i dont think that it is adrenaline because the reaction my body has is so heavy that i doubt adrenaline can give me such a hard time.)

This may sound weird but I think you need to start caring less about the game. If you don't care whether you win or loose, you probably won't see such a reaction.

Try not to bother thinking about winning and especially get out of the MUST IMPROVE MUST MACRO bullshit mindset that so many people have. Play to have fun, and focus on that. Cheese some, go tempest/ht, dt rush, whatever. Just try to enjoy the game.

With that kind of mindset improving comes naturally with time. If you play to have fun you end up playing lots, and therefore you will get better in a "healthier" way.
ModeratorProtoss all-ins are like a wok. You can throw whatever you want in there and it will turn out alright.

I can't think of any other reason than adrenaline being shot through your body by false fight or flight signals from the brain. By that I mean I think you convinced your brain that playing a SC2 game is a matter of physical impact. In that sense, I wouldn't say things such as change your mindset, because it's not that easy. There's of course massive exposure that helps, but anxiety can come to play parts in anything you do in your later life. Often times parts where you can't have constant exposure. Because, let's face it, someone becoming anxious about a game, can just as easily become anxious for many other things. Much rather I would advise you to seek other ways to get rid of anxiety, for example meditation. This will help you through your entire life.

You just need to play enough until you are not.

that is very easy to say in my opinion. i would like to no longer have my hands shuddering and killing my own units because of it. but i would like to accomplish that goal without having to play. because that makes playing not fun anymore. its an awful feeling but because i want to play 1v1 and get better i do play now and then. its just that i would play waay more if i no longer had that anxiety.

Then accept the fact that the ladder isn't actually important.

I don't play SC2 much anymore, but I get over anxiety once I've finished my 1-2 games. Ohh and it also helps that I don't take the ladder seriously, I basically got an account to diamond on NA by only making reapers, banshees and ravens. Most of the games were exclussively reapers.

Dick around don't take it seriously and then you'll see that it doesn't really matter, if you want to improve you'll improve.

Unless you take some sort of pills or something there is no way to just get over being nervous without playing and getting used to it.

I remember when I used to get nervous and have an adrenaline rush whenever I was going to win. After playing you get used to it eventually and you won't get that adrenaline rush when you are about to win.

Then for me next came everytime I played a known player I would get nervous and adrenaline would be pumping, especially when I was about to win then I got over excited and would lose due to it. Eventually I got used to this as well due to playing known players so many times that now it's just another player to me.

It only goes away in time, if you play a lot it'll go away faster, if you play very little it may never go away.
When I think of something else, something will go here

Don't know if you ever get over it. Many of the best pro gamers have to deal with their nerves too. Like anything else you fear, the more you expose yourself to it the last difficult it becomes.

Play unranked matches and use gimmicky / stupid strategies. Embrace losing. You'll still be nervous, but maybe it won't be as bad as during your normal ladder sessions.
I got rid of my anxiety with this trick, now I can easily play 10 games in a row without being too nervous.
first we make expand, then we defense it.
