Someone once said that bad guys always win.
Sometimes the bad guy is a jerk boyfriend, or sometimes the bad guy is someone youve been fighting with for years.
And sometimes it's a desease you didn't have a chance against.
I guess all you can do is be yourself and hope that being a good guy pays off.

This is an ez question.

Think of anakin skywalker from star wars where he says from his point of the view the jedi are evil. This guy is obviously a good guy (supposedly!).

Now the facts for that are simple. Is he a dick? Does he want to kill/hurt innocent poor people? If he says yes to any of those he's not a good guy from our point of view! From an enemy/assholes point of view good guys are evil!

Bad guys don't always win. Assuming two entities are equal, the entity that is willing to go farther than the other will win. The ability to go farther than the other guy can come from many sources, from lack of empathy to extreme willpower. So, the entity than wins does not have to be inherently evil.
Of course, situations like these were a LOT more common when we were all just animals, running around in the muck with nothing but air in our heads and sticks in our hands. Now, we have all kinds of entities that are impossibly stronger than their opposition, such as armies and police forces, so going farther than the other guy is no longer consistently necessary in the first world.
It's still ridiculously common in nature, though. Animals are just scary mean. A lot of them don't give the smallest fuck about anything bad that happens to anyone but them. They will kill painfully, slowly and gruesomely. They will perforate, strangle, swallow alive and slowly digest or fill their prey with acid. They will do all that and more, if they believe it is practical. That, and nothing more, justifies the most wanton atrocities.
I'm glad we aren't animals.
