How much bandwidth do you use?

So I was paying my internet bill and just for shits and giggles looked at the usage period, now this is a fairly new service so it only goes back to Jan 01st 2013. However from Jan 01st 2013 to today, I've used 491 gigs of bandwidth(this will go up as I am currently downloading a 12.4 gig stream game and it should finish by midnight ).

During Jan our service was a bit spotty and would constantly go out for a few hours to a few days at a time, so we only used 157 gigs that month. However I've used over 330 gigs this month(not including the pending download). I have no idea how I could use so much...and am even more glad that at least I don't have an ISP that throttles me or caps my bandwidth.

But even saying that, I don't really torrent anything anymore(I did download Tiny Toons and Freakazoid but that was a measly 8gigs). I do watch twitch/netflix/hulu a ton but I never imagined that would suck up so much bandwidth. I mean it seems like an average viewing of 3 shows is roughly 2-4 gigs of bandwidth depending on your quality(I can check this because the new usage service allows me to break it down hour by hour).

Even streaming netflix to your android phone apparently uses a ton of bandwidth. I guess I'm just shocked considering I only use the internet ~8 hours a day but its mostly playing a game which I know doesn't take up that much bandwidth comparatively to streaming services.

So, to cap it all off, can anyone else check their bandwidth usage and if so what have you used this month?

I can use a maximum of 8.5GB a month. 28k dialup T.T Only downloads at 11MB an hour. I'm going to have to go to my brothers to update SC2 to its newest patch.

I wish I knew how much data Diablo 3 uses, as if it was playable on dialup I would buy it in an instant.

Verizon says I use ~3-6gb a month on my iphone. Clearly I should do more work at work.

According to my provider (whose data I question because hey, they count differently in many ways), my usage this month was 26.50 GB (probably because they start counting about a week and a half into the month).

Last month it was about 100gb. It looks like, using eye-estimation of a line across the usage history bar graph, that my usage averages around 75GB. Despite watching many streams - I guess I need to watch more netflix, download more programs, and maybe set up a random continuous large packet ping system. I've got a 250GB "cap". (Insert rant about "Unlimited*", when the asterisk came after the service was ordered.)

As far as my phone goes, it looks like around 1 - 1.5GB of data.

Hmm. Almost makes me want to go set up my other two computers, get them on network, and start doing something bandwidth intensive.

Yes, I email sponsors... to thank them. Don't post drunk, kids. My king, what has become of you?

So I see you mean network throughput, not really bandwidth (common mistake...) I use on my data plan (shared between three lines) about 1gig a month, but on my internet I don't even begin to know...I would estimate something on par with 30gig.

Maybe it's just me, but besides weekends, using the Internet for 8 hours a day isn't something I would say "only".

I have a 500GB monthly cap I think, but the most I've used is like 200. Average is somewhere between 75-150GB.

About 1.5gb a day so thats 10.5gb a week which is 42gb a month. Lets add on unexpected large game patches / large downloads and make it 50gb.

Network Throughput is how fast you can move data(IE downloading/uploading) bandwidth is what I meant to say, or the amount of data you have consumed period -.-, if you're gonna correct me at least be right.

Reasons for measuring throughput in networks People are often concerned about measuring the maximum data throughput in bits per second of a communications link or network access. A typical method of performing a measurement is to transfer a 'large' file from one system to another system and measure the time required to complete the transfer or copy of the file. The throughput is then calculated by dividing the file size by the time to get the throughput in megabits, kilobits, or bits per second.

In computer networking and computer science, the words bandwidth,[1] network bandwidth,[2] data bandwidth,[3] or digital bandwidth[4][5] are terms used to refer to various bit-rate measures, representing the available or consumed data communication resources expressed in bits per second or multiples of it (bit/s, kbit/s, Mbit/s, Gbit/s, etc.).

That said, I had assumed I was in the average user list, but apparently based on this thread I average in the top 10-15% for data consumption per month >.> Not that it's a contest or anything, just surprising is all since i assumed most people watched a ton of streams like me.

Hm last time I checked at my house we used 150 gigs in 2 weeks so I would imagine the average is 300 gigs. I know people on here that have throttles and caps and all that, I just want to say I am so glad I don't have to deal with that xD
When I think of something else, something will go here

I have a cap of 100 gigs. But a few months ago my provider messed up and didnt cap me and i would have downloaded atleast 200 gigs easy. If i didnt have a cap i would probably use 500+ gigs per month easy enough. At the moment i dont watch anything over 480P because it takes to much data and i try not to torrent to much.

I still live with my family but we have a 500GB cap and usually find ourselves going to around 450.

During December we went to like 800GB. It's pretty unfair with netflix, steam, streams, and internet music :D
