What the hell, man? What is wrong with this city? And how have I been fortunate enough to avoid two gun-related incidents so close to each other?

edit: sorry, not trying to be callous. That's terrifying. My cousin works at a different lone star campus and I was pretty worried for a minute edit: but the point is, this is one of those things that is hard to judge using your brain's normal danger heuristics.

I know that it wasnt dangerous, I mean I avoided both situations entirely. I am not afraid to go out or anything, it is just hard to believe that I wouldve been in the same room if I had stayed, on top of the thing that happened on Thursday. And how have I been fortunate enough to avoid two gun-related incidents so close to each other? Well I'd say you've been more unfortunate to be so close to two gun-related incidents. It's pretty unlikely and apparently it's freaking you out. You're quite unlucky!

You're quite unlucky! The chance of one of these things happening to you is still poor. Be alarmed that they happened because they're major events, but don't be alarmed that something weird like these events are going to happen to you. I hate to be an ass, but statistically speaking, since it already happened twice and the probability of those events would therefore be one, the probability of this next event happening which is about the same as the first (or very, very small).

I seem to be surrounded by a magnetic field which attracts only cars. Staplers and tinfoil don't seem to go for me, but cars, they can't get enough of me. I seem to narrowly avoid a collision on a weekly basis. It would be at this opportunity that I would back up my driving skills...but I am a pedestrian! I do know how to drive, and what the highway code is. Somehow the drivers I meet don't know what a pedestrian crossing is, or what their indicators mean. If you are handing out car avoidance tips, I am all ears

This last Thursday night a co-worker was held at gunpoint in our parking lot and had his car stolen, I worked the next night. Today, there is a shooting at my college campus and I would have been in the immediate area of the shooting had I not decided to ditch my 2nd class because I wanted to eat food. I mean like the exact immediate area. I am usually in the library between my first and second class because I have about a 40 minute break between classes, and around the time the shooting happened I wouldve been leaving the library to head to class. The shooting had happened around the library. What the hell, man? What is wrong with this city? And how have I been fortunate enough to avoid two gun-related incidents so close to each other? Look on the bright side, maybe someone is looking over you (if you believe in that sort of thing). Or maybe you are actually very lucky, hence why you are avoiding such horrible events. Either way, try not to worry yourself, you have no idea what is around the corner.
