Hey guys. I have been playing sc2 since it came out, and have had a lot of BW experience on iccup, but never gotten past C-, C+. I took a two year break since I moved and my computer broke, and had a lack of funds to get another PC. So Im back in the game, started fresh this season, and Im garbage. 2 years ago I managed to place in diamond but this season I got put into bronze.
So I guess my question is, what should I be doing to improve my game?? I have been doing the same 2-3 build orders that I have stuck in my brain for my Terran team, but they haven't helped me too much. I try to watch my replays but I just don't know what I should be looking for in terms of what I need to improve on. Do I need to download pro games or master level Terran players and copy builds? do I need to go to gosucoaching? What in your opinion is a good way to get back into the higher ranks? I hear that just mass gaming isn't going to make me better, and it never really did before.
Thanks

In my opinion, you should get some training buddies. That way, you can practise some specific builds, as well as ask friends to perform certain builds against you that you have trouble with.
Watching replays is a very good option as well, but it is important to keep track of what your player is doing, and then trying to copy it in one of your practise games or even ladder games. The main thing to work on would be mechanics and macroing. Micro management comes with time, and you will win most of your games based on macro, so that is something to work on.
View some videos from Day[9], he is a genius when it comes to explaining the fundamentals of the game. You can find his videos on Youtube.
Also take a look at SC2strat.net and read through the guides, some of those things might help.

Go to day9.tv and watch the newbie Tuesdays and regular start dailies, possibly the single best resource for getting betters:D

Would you mind defining garbage as you see it? C-/+ translated to SC2 has the potential to be pretty good.
|
Yeah, Day9 is a good source, you could also show us some replays so we could tell you where you could improve.
|
how do I upload a replay? Edit: how should I go about of finding builds though? liquipedia terran builds don't help too much and my old ones aren't great so im pretty much just building whatever

You were C+ and diamond, how the hell is it even possible for you to be in bronze? Get your APM back to 200+ and you should be able to get to diamond off mechanics alone.
|
build orders arent as strict in sc2 as bw, but you can always get em from replays and the strat section here

if i were you and would really just want to learn and get the hell outta bronze i would just 1 rax cc everygame, prolly best way to learn

Watching Day[9] is a really good for getting an idea of what you really need to improve. Newbie Tuesday is a great source for finding material that helps you improve and identify potential areas for improvement. Looking at some really basic build orders (more than 1 base) really helped me identify where I should be at economically at which point of time. With all the watching of Day[9] and build order study, make sure you don't forget to actually play the game to polish your mechanics.
If I was you, I wouldn't go for coaching lessons.

well I mean its definatly possible...I took a two year break and just really fell off
ive just been 2 racks expanding or going racks fact port expand and now am top gold but still bad. Are all the newbie Tuesdays on his youtube account? and maybe I could find a training partner on the site too? also one last question and I think I got a lot of good info, where do I find peoples replays, just pick one from the bottom left corner box with a certain matchup?
thx a lot guys/girls
EDIT: newbie Tuesday, episode #1 so far very cool, but youtube is ridiculous now with all these advertisements!!!!!!!!
