I've been dating a girl long distance and recently i had been thinking the relationship needed to end.. So today i finally went ahead and told her and she said she was going to kill herself, and i didn't believe it then she sent me a picture of blood and i don't know what to do i can't get ahold of her family or any of her friends ( she's from a different country) i'm ffreaking out and terrified i'm crying and i don't know what to do or think now......

Don't take it that seriously. Might be fake or a cut arm. Only a fool would kill themselves over a breakup (Or at least I like to think)

Well if she sent you a picture then she likely wasn't dead at that point. If you have her number, I'd call her and try and talk to her, see if you could talk her down. Have you attempted to see if she has any family linked on facebook? You don't know any of her friend's names? Just grab a name off her wall that looks like they interacted and reach out.

I can't say I condone not doing anything about it which is why I'm even posting this in the first place. Hopefully you tried contacting her before you came here. I can't tell you how long you should spend attempting to find out what happened because that's your decision. I don't know what your situation was with so take this for what it's worth; you'll be alright.

don't take it seriously. Its obvious that she's looking for attention. If she was really going to kill herself she wouldn't send you pictures. She looking to get the exact reaction you are giving her now. If she really does then you can't blame yourself, she was unstable.

I really doubt she did though

This story is most likley not true at all. The last thing I would do if I was in this situation is posting on TL.
If you really think that she might be in danger, the most logical course of action would be to inform the authorities (aka call the police). Even if she was just faking it, you cant be blamed if you have a reasonable explanation for your suspicion.
If you had a "relation" you for sure know her name and address.
And even if the story is right, she is most likely dead by now or she faked it and there is no reason to contact her again, because that would just give her what she wanted in the first place.

Well 30 minutes later she responded saying she went to the hospital so she didn't die.. but she cut herself somewhat badly...
she's from a different country i didn't know how to contact the authorities there, and yes i was freaking out so i posted here instead of telling my personal friends -_- yes Cloud it was legit

You were probably right by reacting to her i'm giving her the attention she is wanting but its hard to ignore when someone is threatening that, i don't take death lightly as both of my parents have died, as well as a friend of mine got shot at a gun range at school when i was a freshman( military school)

I wanted some help from others and i don't have a reddit account and i didn't really know where else to post so.. i came here..

Well, you could have contacted your authorities, they would have the means to inform the authorities in her country if you'd provide them with the address. You should stopp all contact with this individual and put her on an ignore list if possible. You are not responsible for her actions.

Somewhat cold people over here, a lot of heroes here would just let someone be alone in a sick state of mind. Just call the authorities or ambulance is the best you can ever do, isn't that obvious?

Yea i got a hold of her friends finally she said she's in the hospital.. i've calmed down i just can't let someone do that whether or not its herdecision.. thanks though Cecil

If she sent a pic of blood, she wants attention. Sadly people do harm themselves thinking it will somehow force their ex to date them again, or something along those lines...even if subconsciously they never really intend to take their own life... psychotic reactions are hard to understand sometimes.
The sad thing is that sometimes when attempting to hurt themselves they really do go all the way and leave everyone around them bereft, over this temporary and relatively insignificant problem (relative to the scope of ones life)
Sad.
Glad that she is in the hospital and alive!

If I may ask did you at least break it to her gently, her reaction seems a little extreme

Was it even her blood? Because there are tons of pictures of bloody arms and stuff on google images... She's just trying to stress you out. IMO, chill the heck out.

Man sucks for you, I had a friend undergo a similar situation. Just one tip, don't get guilt tripped into talking to her anymore. At all. No more contact. Trust me, it'll make things a loooot smoother.

People who are suicidal have a variety of mental instabilities that have developed overtime and need the help of a professional; to think that "you" might have caused it doesn't match with how mental illnesses work. Encourage her to seek a professional, though if she did go to a hospital it is likely the hospital will encourage her to seek help (hopefully).

PleasepleasepleasepleasePLEASE ignore her! By paying ANY attention to her you're only encouraging her bad habit. Just leave her behind forever, block her if possible. Even if you don't have the spine to leave, this "relationship" will only get way worse over a period of time and force you to leave anyways.
