So... I've been here for about 2,5 years I think, before that I lurked for 2 years (mostly so I know about any upcoming games/tournaments) thanks to diggity keeping on mentioning the site in his old bw casts. And... well, I keep on seeing people who are here for like 6 months and already have 3 times the postcount of mine, which effectively means that my e-penis is shorter than the one of people who wouldn't even recognize the epic jaw of the mantoss. Now, I could try to crank up my postcount, but that's just not my style, I write or want to write posts very often, but then I usually see somebody who already stated my opinion, close the window because I don't want to get a warning or realize that posting would be useless. I guess I'm just a lazy poster, which kinda means that I'm not too known in the community of the forum, but I don't really mind that. There is no conclusion to this blog, I don't seek for ways to post more (although I did think about joining the TL mafia for a while ) and I don't need any pats on my back and people who tell me that it's alright, this is literally just an observation I made about my life in an awesome community. Feel free to talk about your feelings about this topic, your own experiences and how you take talking to people who think of Neo from the matrix instead of the Maestro of the Zerg when they read Savior.
Yours truly, a guy who's actual penis is longer than his e-dick (I swear ; _ ; !!!).

By Jove, you've discovered the secret! Keep writing blogs like this and your post count will swell to the size of your IRL big swingin' weiner!

I just post because I enjoy posting. The number, as you say, is arbitrary and I am comfortable with my post count being 0, 1 to 9999999.
Doesn't matter to me and I highly doubt it matters to as many people as we think. I've been doing internet forums for over 10 years now and I just enjoy the concept of leaving a message, coming back and seeing a bunch of reply to it.

If I read something and it invokes a feel or opinion of mine I would post it. Just because someone else has said similar things as I would or have said, does not make my opinion redundant, it just strengthens the view or sentiment.

I'll remember that and will try to do that, then again I sometimes see way people think and express their opinion, like in the gunownerthread and immedeatly lose all interest to discuss with them.
EDIT: +1!

I avoid general discussion topics unless youre unserious about the conversation and want to play devil's advocate.

I think too low of other people so that's why I don't post much.
Kinda like, don't throw pearls before swine?
ya, I'm an ego maniac in that way

I actually have the same problem lol. Although my thoughtpattern usually curses the low IQ of others instead of my own greatness ^^.

postcount is terrible, don't worry about it. i dread getting into the 5-digit postcounts because there are so many other terrible, terrible posters up there that i don't wish to get confused with =(

quality >>> quantity. If you make few, but quality posts, people will remember your name just as well. Better to be known for the content of one's posts rather than the count of it.
That's also a good way to avoid warnings and bans btw. I think as a rule of thumb, if you find yourself posting just for the sake of posting, you're on a good way to get warned/banned. This is because the more you post the less you think about what you post. Of course there are very mature people who have no problems with posting a lot, but the average person will slip up sooner or later.

Yeah idc either.

Sometimes you just have to witness for the truth.

I understand your feelings completely; I'm the same exact way when it comes to posting, albeit much more pronounced. Made this account over a year ago and nowhere near triple-digits at all.
And a lot of the times, I just don't post because I feel that whatever I write just looks elementary compared to everyone else (I'm quite silly to say the least).
|
Average posts per day 0.37 =D! I barely write half a post each day and yet I still can't seem to post anything of substance T.T
|
I've spotted quite a few people who joined 2010-2011 and already have like more than 10k posts, quite insane...
I can remember at least 2 great low post count users: moktira and marcoso from the Small Vod Thread (the best thread ever on TL). So yea, post count doesn't really matter.
|
One of the most legendary users in TL history, My_Digital_Toss, only has 267 posts, and he's been a member since 2004. Unfortunately, he hasn't posted anything new in quite a while.
|
Other's post counts and rep aren't even worth caring about unless your the sort of individual who cannot conjure his own thoughts and perspectives. I always lol when some mod or known player submits a one line post that is neither funny nor insightful and a ton of people respond to it by sucking up to the poster.
If you want to be known just vs somebody in a grudgematch, or write a thread claiming that rush[pain] = Bibiane.
If you care at all about your reputation on TL then the best way to actually become a worthwhile member of the scene is to contribute by creating interesting or valuable threads. In my opinion 1 good thread > 1000 generic posts.

Join date matters far more than post count. Maybe someone can come up with a formula to turn it all into e-inches.

If you want postcount, LR threads are a huge boost. Other than that, if you actually have conversations in threads then you will have more posts. I just recently became proficient with the subscribed threads feature, which allows me to jump to the first unread post in a thread making conversations possible rather than trying to remember which page your post was on.
|
yeah i used to post a lot, mostly because of the old dota thread. but i've recently realized that people don't really care what i have to say on most things and i don't really have anything insightful to say, so i pretty much only lurk now. post count isn't really a big deal. i actually tend to see someone with like a 10k post count in 6 months as a shitty poster (most of the time).

I actually wanted to try that with a dota LR thread, but whenever I watch a dotagame that I would deem worthy of talking about I usually just want to watch it in peace lol.
