Since release, I've played sc2 exclusively... I finally reached a masters level of play with multiple races and was excited to get my promotion and play the game more often.
Then patch 1.5 came out.
I haven't played it for weeks or months because the closest thing I can do to fixing it is play, a 9 minute replay (that takes 20 mins to finish because of stutters) EVERY TIME at the BEGGINING of when I load up sc2 before I can play a game.
I don't know what to do.... I don't expect blizzard to fix this so, since I've already probably dropped to plat level of play from inactivity, do I simply uninstall sc2 and spend a lot more time being bored or do I try to find posessions to sell for an SSD so I can play the new version of the game and slowly regain my old speed and game sense?

Doubt SSD will fix it.
Theres a custom preloader map that helped with those issues and a number of "fixes" out there that may or may not work. (Theres some preloader mode or something out there, type it in on TL, its where ive seen all this stuff)
Of course, you could carry on acting a big girl, or you could go fix it :D

Ugh, having to spend 20 mins at the start of opening the game is really disruptive to how I like to play the game

As far as i know the preloader map takes a couple of minutes.
You said you want to find possessions to sell to gain an SSD, yet you act like a spoilt brat (no offence) Is it really that hard to make a small sacrifice while the issue is being fixed? Clearly your not used to having everything in life when you want it.
And if nothing works, well, sorry bro. It will be fixed eventually im sure

I run SC2 from an SSD and have had no problems with 1.5. Not sure if it's because of the SSD, but if it's preloading of units that causes the problem, then it might be.

Ive run 1.5 on a dying hardrive that gave me so much shit (constant crashes, massive screeching / grinding noises, under 10mb/s transfer from it) and it ran fine... apart from the crashes xD (Also fuck that thing for its 48 hour transfer of 150gb.)
I dont know what causes it but i dont think harddrives have much to do with it.
Also run it off my new HDD which is only a 500gb 6gb/s 7200 RPM HDD and it runs fine too.

Why? Diablo 3 has the same problem and it hasn't been attempted to be fixed. Why do you think blizzard will fix it?
And there is no preloader map on the Europe server, not last time I checked anyway.

This is probably a stupid question, but have you tried a fresh installation of SC2? Have you tried reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling your OS?

well..I cant even patch the game to 1.5 because I cant really clear out 5 gb worth of stuff from my c drive....wish they could patch to the directly to the drive where sc2 is installed.

An SSD worked for me.
