I wanted to thank the wonderful staff, players, and casters (especially Day[9]) at the NASL finals, for making my sons birthday present amazing. I hope you guys enjoy these photos as much as he does.

I thought I would take the time to answer some of the questions in this thread seeing how kind you all have been.
1)Does he/do we play starcraft?
-This one is an easy answer, of course we all play! If it wasn't for my borderline obsession there is no chance that he would be as interested as he is. Last November we set up a second computer in the computer room and we play together quite often.
2) How exactly does a 5 year old even get exposed to starcraft; so much that he has favorite players?
-Well I think honestly it was the exact right mix of technology, community and timing for something like this to occur. We are very young parents (mid-twenties), just so happened to stumble on this amazing community, got sucked in, and had the technological know how to make everything just work. You aren't going to find many households where the main tv is hooked up to the internet 24/7 with every major tournament streamed as if you found it on cable. Add to the fact that I pretty much switched from watching hockey two years ago to screaming for SC2 players like any other sport, and you can understand how it was just kinda natural . The same way you have kids that have a love for football or what ever other sport Daddy happens to be interested in.
3) Did he really know all of those people?
-You better believe it! The only reason we got to meet Day[9] was because as my wife took him to the restroom he kept yelling "WHEN AM I GOING TO GET TO SEE DAY[9]!"...... Day[9] is perfect for kids his energy level is just amazing and my son likes nothing better than to watch him play skyrim, or to hear him go on a rant about his day. While he did want to meet the players, Day[9] was what he really wanted to see. MC did make an impression though, as while we were watching MC vs Ret he said "I want MC to win, he picked me up".
4) Are you really the best father in the world?
-Yes....just kidding. To be honest I almost made us miss the event. His mother (who is the best mom) wanted to buy tickets as soon as the event was announced. I wasn't so sure however; as I didn't know who would make it out of the brackets or how good of an event it would turn out to be and it was a pretty far drive. She was the one who realised how close it would be to his birthday and pushed for us to go even before the casters and final players were decided. It didn't hurt when her favourite player Idra was announced as a caster though.
All in all, what an event! NASL has definitely won over another e-sports customer/family.

love the pic with MC. your kid is a lucky guy, not many people get picked up my MC, nor be able to meet IdrA, iNcontroL, and Day[9] in an intimate environment. great birthday present, sir. +1.
The people in e-sports are amazing and I think these types of people that are willing to make a little boy's birthday perfect can and will bring e-sports to the main stream.
I am a 22 year old guy from sweden, psychology student and i love starcraft. Ì enjoy walks along the beach in the moonlight and cozy movie nights. I think i would fit really well into your family, can you please adopt me?
On a serious note, it is really lovely to see a Sc2 fan with a family do stuff together as a family event. Makes me love esports even more.
Totally made my day some really awesome pictures and seeing all of this reminded me of why I love the esports community so much hope you guys had a great time
So THAT'S how you make IdrA smile! Have a 5-year-old ask him for an autograph! Jokes aside, this is what makes eSPORTS awesome. We aren't big enough to where there is a significant divide between stars and fans. Sure, there is a divide, but it isn't like many of the mainstream sports.
<3 this is so good. The guys @ NASL are awesome. They allowed me backstage at the season 1 finals to hangout with all the players. They also took me on stage to check out the booths and where all the production happens.
I really like the photos! Your son is honestly the cutest kid ever and I am really glad that he enjoys StarCraft! Thanks for introducing this to him! Made my evening.

Unfortunately I was not responsible for all of the babies at this event, as that was not what he was wearing :/
So cute and fun, I love pictures like this that show the whole aspect of this wonderful sport that we are all fans of and some are members.
Its great seeing the shot of the trophy being kissed or the funny .gif of casters giving high fives but its also really neat and uplifting to just see the joy and happiness it brings to families, kids, and the kids inside all of us.
Thank you for sharing a small part of your world with all of us, it brought a smile to my face
This thread is really heart warming. It's even more so with the first picture, not because it's something that's really awesome to do, but just recently MC posted on twitter asking his fans not to touch him when they meet as it makes him a bit uncomfortable. This really shows how much of a personality MC is though. Always energetic during matches, fun stuff afterwords, and always picks the best time to be playful. On top of it all, he's really good. These are the ideal kinds of players we need I feel, it's just great to see. From the looks of it though everything went as perfect as it could have even the Idra smiling picture is incredibly cute ^_^
Great pictures!!! I was smiling and laughing the whole time I read this thread! Happy belated birthday to your son and hopefully we'll see him COMPETING in NASL soon!! <3
Hey man thanks for sharing. Its great to see another gaming family. I also have a son who plays and is now 5 and a daughter about to turn 1. Its great seeing a new generation of family coming up with non traditional forms of family fun.
Final img of the kid with the signature on his forehead looks shopped. Slightly un-focused img with a perfect solid black signature with no distortion from the shape of the kids head and a lack of blur or fade in the ink which would be apparent on skin. Just saying
