I haven't showered all day and I feel disgusted with myself. But now this pretty strong thunderstorm is going on and I can't make up my mind about showering because of the fear of getting shocked.

I realize that the chance of that is incredibly small, but why tempt fate?

Yeah, it's possible to get electrocuted while you're taking a shower - of course, it's a small chance, but then chance is greater than not showering

No, my shower is on the second story of my house. I have no idea why you would ask me if I take showers in the rain.
I'm well aware you don't have to shower every day. I just prefer feeling hygienic over slobby, you know?

Sometimes I go several days without showering (disgusting lol). I don't do anything physical to get sweaty or anything though.

I'd dare to take a shower with a storm outside though. You wanna live forever?

I showered outside in the rain yesterday in my swimming pants for 20minutes and no lightning hit me! Was thundering every half a minute as well!

I know several people who have had lightning strike very close to them. One person lost their brother when they were just kids by a lightning strike, and she had been afraid of it ever since.

My manager at work was in Costa Rica (I believe, something tropic/exotic) and was doing a Zipline (metal cord across a gorge or something, etc) and right after she landed, lightning struck near her and her husband and sent them flying back several feet and said it was very bright and extremely loud like an explosion next to you

This weekend before last, my friends and I were at a festival to camp for the weekend and it rained on the first night. I had went home that night to come back in the morning and they said during the night it stormed bad and lightning struck within 20 feet of their tents and totally split a tree in half and caught another one on fire. They said it sounded like a chain of explosions going off next to them and it woke everyone up.

However, with the way today's houses are made.. with lightning rods and insulation, its very unlikely that you will be struck inside your house.

My biggest worry would just be losing power, and being in the dark in the shower lol ^_^

The 4th of July this year our town did a firework presentation and right as it started a storm front moved in and I saw some of the craziest lightning ever. It seemed like every few seconds u could see lightning striking in the sky. However, none of us got struck by lightning, or any of the other thousands of people who were across the river downtown (caught in the rain, poor folks!)

You guys do realize this showering every day thing is a entirely unneeded and hasn't been going on for long at all.

100 years ago did people shower every day? Whats the actual point of showering every day?

I take a shower when I don't feel clean, but if I can feel clean just washing my face/hands and whatnot then why waste a fuckload of water?

(I haven't taken a shower in a week and I don't smell like anything but clean clothes and deodorant, and my hair isn't disgusting at all)

There are much more plausible / likely scenarios that could hurt you >_> I mean you could have a sudden brain aneurysm, or you could trip in the shower and hit your head, among a thousand other things that are more likely to happen. But if you prefer to feel safer just wait, it's an almost irrelevant decision any way.

I have to be honest here, I was only being somewhat serious. I wrote this blog mostly out of boredom lol. But I was also curious what other TLers had to say. The odds of actually getting struck also amazes me

I hadn't taken a shower the day before and I was starting to feel grimy and sticky. I guess it's just me but I absolutely hate sleeping in my bed if I'm dirty.
I wanted to take a shower but there was a huge thunderstorm going on at the time, so I googled whether or not you could actually get shocked while showering during a thunderstorm. Most people were saying that it holds the same risk as getting electrocuted outside, extremely low but still possible.

And then I read someone's comment that said, "The chances are low, but why tempt fate?" And he was completely right. Getting shocked was unlikely but there was no point in risking it, so I waited until morning.

But yeah, those are some pretty interesting stories.

TL;DR I waited until morning, and I'm going to start showering less often lol.
