Finally, after all my time in debate I have found the race that I’m going to main for the rest of my long climb. I had some indecision even in the final moments but I am dead set on this endeavor and have decided to play the race of Protoss. It was a hard choice, I love all the races to be quite honest but Protoss seems to be my best and also the one I strongly feel that is best suited for me.
Last night in the wee hours of the morning I decided to take 100 of my past games while playing random. A little were from this new season but most of them came from about a month ago to current. No matter how long the game was I counted all of the wins and losses for each race and then calculated the Win Loss ratio to see which race I have had the most success with. Then numbers explain the entire story.
Terran:
Total Games Played: 31
Wins-Losses: 16-15
Ratio: 1.06
Zerg:
Total Games Played: 26
Wins-Losses: 8-18
Ratio: .44
Protoss:
Total Games Played: 43
Wins-Losses: 29-14
Ratio: 2.07
(Ratio is calculated by dividing wins over losses)
That win loss ratio for protoss............. it is sooooo sexy. And mind you a lot of those wins were actually PvZ wins (for me I have always struggled vZ just in general. I think the way that their mechanics work really fuck me over.) I did say that until the end I had been indecisive and well I was. I think it just was the fact that I won my MLG match in Orlando as Terran that I feel like I won’t be able to compete as Protoss at a high level. But to be honest Protoss has always been that race that has grabbed me from the get go. When I originally bought the game I was immediately drawn to how the Protoss looked and their units. I also enjoy the morals/story behind the race. They seem to fit this black and white idealism and are a culture who demand justice and peace. Although when I did buy the game, my friend who got me into it told me to play the campaign first so then I decided hey since I have been playing terran lets go with that. When I first started playing Terran it was for me like work but I still felt good about it. But when I play Protoss it is so different. It is like I am drawn to the race itself and to be honest I think their play style fits mine so perfectly. I like to think of them as a race that if you are patient and tech up, get 3-4 bases you will be unstoppable. I like the strategy behind it; to be the one defending, sitting there patiently until your unstoppable force comes into play. I don’t have the best micro but when I defend properly and macro up, I sometimes even surprise myself.

I think that is all I have for today, I’m gonna have to start laddering as Protoss for real and see how it fares. Hope I can brush up on my PvX since I have been playing random for so long. To all my Protoss people out there, you have a new pupil in your fold. I will learn your ways and become the most unstoppable Protoss you have/will ever see in the game.
