Think it was Saturday that I managed to catch you out of the ropes for the first time. My friend actually spammed me with texts about it, as it was his turn off of the seats. I had this weird goal in mind for MLG: before I got any other signature on my mouse pad, I had to get Sheth's. Also, I wanted the 2 to 23 hugs I was promised on stream once, but it didn't work out.  Traded water for an autograph while feeling incredibly nervous, and even got a hug out of it! Tried to keep it short because it felt like I was a big bother while you were hanging around the player's area. I hope I wasn't too much trouble, Sheth. And thank you so much for the second at the signing event. When I get it framed I'll send you a picture. :D -- Since this is probably going to be the only time I'll write about my MLG experience, let me just add: I got to do something amazing. For the first time I managed to really show my mom the game I love. She bought me Starcraft 1 when I was eight years old, and she asked to come along to MLG when I told her about it. She watched every game with me, and cheered even louder than I did sometimes. When we got back to the hotel after the finals on Sunday, she told me a few things. She had an incredible time at MLG, she loved watching Starcraft, she wants to go to more Strarcraft tournaments, and she thinks I should try to be a Starcraft player. It was the strangest thing to hear, but it was so cool to be able to share this game with my mother. Oh man, this was way too long. | ||

I have to agree with Torte on this one. Such a peaceful picture. Very pretty. Good blog, Sheth. I also feel two tournaments shouldn't be running at the same time when players are supposed to play both and there's so much pressure to perform on both... | ||

1.) You can refuse to tell your opponent your race when vetoing maps. Now, this rule seems fair and unfair. If you're a famous well-known player of X race then it is a disadvantage for you. When it comes to certain match-ups, map selection is crucial. Now I know that most people know the good players and what races they are, but there are always those really strong and unknown players at every event that have the potential to take out some big names (like Scarlett at IPL4). Say a similar player made their debut at MLG, and they could just flat out refuse to tell their opponent their race, leaving a severe disadvantage to the bigger name player across the table. I understand the "mystery" aspect to the Open Bracket where it's (usually) 200+ players and you cannot know every single one. However, I feel that this is just a silly and unnecessary rule. 2.) No replay viewing at all. After I had just lost my match and was sent into the loser bracket, I wanted to load up the replay and see what I had done wrong. Upon loading up the replay an admin instantly teleported over to me and said "no replay viewing please exit the replay". I was kind of taken back, I explained how I had already lost the best of 3 and was out, yet apparently it did not matter. What's ironic is that I'd walk down the rows of computers and see players watching replays after their defeats all the time. I don't want to jump on the "big namers get privileged" bandwagon but most of the ones I saw were big names, and they were allowed to watch their replays. I think you should not be able to watch a replay in the middle of a boX, but when you've lost the series and it's over, you should be able to at least watch the replay and see what happened. I can understand if it's for a time-constraint and they need the computer immediately, but that was not the case for my incident at least. | ||
