Senior Ball So yeah. I learned a lot about senior ball. I learned I dislike most of the popular music among my age group and demographic. They said the DJ sucked. I agree. But I’m not sure we agree in the same way. Ended up learning a lot of positive things, but unfortunately learned my mom really can’t deal with losing control, and may have contributed to my burgeoning lack of knowledge of fashion. I detailed the run up to the ball a bit in earlier blogs. Ridiculous awkwardness cumulated in failure. I asked a friend as a friend, which turned out to be sort of strange considering their awkwardness. And the fact they were a bit straightforward with the fact that they didn’t really want to do anything at ball. Day of ball….. Anyways. Looking back, it was just sort of to be socially acceptable. Woohoo. Went with a group of people. Was fairly fun. Being minority white guy is fun. Woohoo. Cut to ball. It’s fun, I guess. Didn’t get any of music. Friend was entirely uh, uninterested in doing anything. Which was somewhat expected. I don’t think they had been to a dance as of yet. This is why you plan ahead folks. Still, probably was a good thing I asked them, so I went. Dance started, about 1/3 of way through, ended up asking a single female to dance. We kept it reasonable (wtf, dancing is either convulsing or grinding nowadays) but it really showed me that heck, a lot of it is more of my negative self-assessment and unwillingness to take action than any real flaw. It was a lot of fun, and showed that if I am assertive and not self doubting I can do a lot better than I previously thought. Was constrained by parents to come home right after. Which was either a good or bad thing. Hard to say. Good news: I got sleep. Bad news: didn’t do a whole lot. Speaking of which, when I had my clothes for ball my mom had a fit about the shade of the tie. And owuldn’t let go, saying I would be humiliated. Nothing such happened. But she did get very angry, and sort of has been for the last couple days. She couldn’t stand to lose control of a tie I was wearing. I’m sure going away to college will be easy for her @.@
BBC radio six is awesome.
These are my thoughts on ball in abstract form. Lol people spend too much, wtf limo, why?, music is weird, I only know three songs, lol that’s not dancing that’s grinding, woohoo, I can ask somebody to dance and not have head bitten off.

Shame that you didn't end up having more fun, but at least you can say that you did in fact go to senior ball :D
Sleep is good, wish I could get more of it sometimes but yeah sacrificing freedom for sleep, bit iffy. Have fun in college~
After the first two woohoos I was hoping for a lot but the final woohoo count stands at 3

WTF!
Are you a mummy's boy or something? Why would your mum go into a fit about the colour of your tie...

Uh well scanning down his list of considerable entries, a lot of them have "rage", and more often and not, "rage" is paired with "parent", and skimming some of the entries it seems like his mom is pretty overbearing etc :x

Pretty much every high school dance nowadays involves grinding, my senior ball was the same even though the tickets you bought clearly said in the bold no grinding, glad you found some guts to ask a girl to dance(which isn't too hard if you don't think too much). Sucks you were forced to go home early though, its usually the after-prom activities were the real fun happens *wink*

My HS eventually had to modify their "no grinding" rule to a "no grinding with the girl bent over" rule because nobody followed it. Grinding is, for better or worse, par for the course in modern HS dances.

I'm glad you have enoug self confidence and identity to be satisfied with 'what you do' as opposed to 'what everyone does', it's not necessairy to go completely crazy and do inappropriate things (with people, substances etc) to have a good time. I would however suggest you practice a bit of dance, not to "impress the girls" cause that never really happens, but just to be well on your feet and confident you won't make a fool of yourself . Basic Rock'n'Roll ( + - swing) and Salsa should be fine, buy a "Teach Yourself 'X' Dance" dvd and learn it with your sister or something, that's what I did (: As long as you're responsible, don't be to limited to try new things, but never suppress your actual opinion of the activity as opposed to how everyone else values it.

If you look at it purely as in how she treats it, then probably yes. I've given in a bit just to avoid the ridiculous confrontation that happens any time I deviate from ZE PLAN. If you look at what I want to do, then heck no.
