Sup y'all, so I moved into my new unit. It is pretty schweet. Fast wireless internet, if I have any problems accessing sites (for example, Twitch streams don't load), I can just get on my VPN.

My room mates are all fellow gamers, and they like Starcraft. It makes talking to them so much easier, knowing they share similar interests as you. We're all planning to go the Barcraft in the city in the start of March, so it's such a relief that I can at least go there with them instead of by myself.
Besides that, my food diet is 'okay'. Regular eating pattern of cereal for breakfast, soup for lunch and pasta + meat for dinner. Will figure out how to get vegetables in later on.
Only thing I'm devastated about is that I didn't bring my second monitor. Honestly, I thought it wouldn't fit on the desk, but as you can see, plenty of room. I'll bring it when I come back home for Easter, I guess.
Anyway I have a few days to just bum out until orientation week, but it's a good experience!

Pretty impressive living in a dorm and going to uni at the age of 15
|
Where do you go? And sick setup
|
How come you decided to start uni in the second semester of the year? Or does the school year run differently in Australia? The dorm looks pretty sweet, levels above the cramp heatbox that was my freshmen dorm.

I'm incredibly jealous.

just out of curiousity, what university do you go to?

Nice, sick room!
Also, please say you have a chair like the one in this comic!

Wow.. sick as shit O_o and ... you already knew a bunch of gamer kids to room with at 15 and going to university? and damn that dorm looks nice... and if that desk was already in the dorm, I'm jealous. Freaking dorms here at Virginia Tech are some trash.... I wish I could have like IU/T-ara/SNSD shit up everywhere lol.. but ... I'm in a white ass school.. so... kinda alone here on the kpop LOL

Whoa that's a lot of space! I am hoping to barcraft as well in March so maybe see you there!
If you need anything please don't hesitate to PM me it sounds like your roommates know what's going on though so that's pretty helpful.
Cheers

Glad to see it working out man!! Happy about your roommates, not everyone is so lucky : )

woah nice setup so clean haha

Looks good to me. However, I think my computer setup is miles more awesome. I have my desktop up where my bed used to be, my desk below, and my bed 3 feet behind me on the floor. Makes for some awesome 2AM "fuck this I'm going to sleep" moments.

Hm damn thats not too bad at all.. my room is a little bigger I think... and one minor problem.. not really "friends" with my roommate rofl.. its just like mutual living..

Two guys who live in the same room. I spend more time talking with my near neighbors than roomate, and he has his friends from other places. The most recent conversation? + Show Spoiler + me: Oh, Nick, you were talking in your sleep last night. him: Oh. Did I, reveal any secrets or something? heh Nah, you just told someone to "get the fuck out". Oh, alright.
. One of the longer conversations we've had. It was also more than 18 hours ago.

Um... last time I talked to my roommate was.. um.. right after winterbreak? that's like what... Jan. .... 16? rofl

On February 15 2012 13:44 Disregard wrote:Im always jealous of students getting the to experience the dorm life Damn you CUNY!! Around here, dorm experience is 80% freshmen. After the first year, almost everyone moves into local apartments, myself included. I'm going to be holed up at one of the pricier apartments, and it's still cheaper than dorms along with a meal plan, with pretty much all of the same benefits. edit: as it turns out, my college is a private ISP. woo!

I may have just had many bad experiences, but I don't think I could be happy with wireless, no matter how fancy it seems at first. If something is pertinent enough to be sent quickly and consistently (IU torrents), its worth doing it through a wire. But if your university is anything like most of the colleges I have been to, you have little choice in the transmission of your internets.
I hope you enjoy your first year of school!

Yep
Actually, my friends dorm ran a wired connection and he got, and I kid you not, 750 down and 300 upload, and he says he's gotten better before. I'll message him to run a speedtest and send me the .jpg of it another day. My school is deep in a major city so servers are close by and ping nearly nothing to local servers.
Heres what he got right now, but he says he can get higher later: ![[image loading]](http://www.speedtest.net/result/1774149879.png)

My room is about 14x11 feet apparently, don't know what that is in meters or what it is compared to yours, and a completely square room, no odd dimensions, then right outside that space is a mini "hallway" which basically just has my closet and the full bathroom, which is shared with a suitemate who has an identical room, and also his closet in the hallway.

I envy your desk space T_T...

I don't see how GTR can be 15 if he's at uni. He should be at least 17 unless he's skipped 2 grades in primary/secondary school.

Hopefully GTR doesn't get ruined and turned cynical and jaded. Though, it could be too late for that

It's a new dorm (1 year old) and almost everyone there uses wireless due to the hassle of setting up ethernet connection, so the few people that do plug in get some retardedly fast speeds. My dorm which is a much MUCH older building would be lucky to get 1/10th that.
