Hi guys
This is my first post on this website so I will keep this brief.
I am on the EU servers and I live in South Africa .
At the moment I am not ranked yet, mainly due to me being new to the game and wanting to make sure I am as good as I can be before moving into the competitive world.
I am looking for the following
1] Mentor to help me improve my play overall and do the yoda thing
2] Players to test against in non-ranked friendly games that we can share videos and help each
other improve .
I do a lot of reading and follow day9 as well so the above will be just be improvement not a complete how to play the game .

The best advice I can give is just play ladder games. All the knowledge in the world of high level timings and strategies isn't going to help you if you don't have the basic fundamentals and experience to back it up. There's a huge difference between knowing how something works in theory, and actually knowing how to execute it... Starcraft is a scary and uncertain game with the fog of war on.
It's good that you now know the basic ideas and the right mindset to follow for improvement. Now my advice would be stop watching Day[9], stop watching streams, and just ladder.

So your basic recommendation is just play the game.And I should get better as I go along
But I am not sure why you are recommending I dont watch streams.Might it be that I might try and copy build I have seen to much. In stead of playing the situasion as it is.
But all in all thanks for taking the time to post a response.

Yeah the best thing to do is just grind out ladder games. The most important thing to do is to get your basic mechanics and macro down, and really the only way to do it is to play a lot.
Yes, watch pro games, but don't try to emulate their higher level decisions. Do more simple stuff. For example, you may watch White-Ra and say "Wow, that Warp Prism harass is awesome! I totally want to do that!" But you should watch and see like, okay, how does he expand early and make it safe? At what time does he take a third? How many cannons do you need to keep it safe? How many Gateways does he have per base? Basic things that will help your basic macro play, instead of trying to learn their own pro tricks.
Watch the pros, but instead of trying to learn high level play, watch their basics and try to emulate that.
