I paid about 110 euro for a core2duo which is slighly better than this one (3 Ghz), i think it's worth it.. and you will be able to stream brood war so I say go for it.

Without a graphics card, this computer would be pretty much only useful for emails, writing, browsing the web and watching videos (and playing BW). If you only need a computer for that, I feel you should search for something even cheaper than $170.

This computer is good for basic tasks like internet, email, light office work, etc. If this is what you need that's probably not bad depending on the LCD you get. It would be a good computer for an elderly relative.

This would be good if your intentions only are to play games like Broodwar and perhaps sc2 on lowest settings, but it probably won't be able to perform more than that, so if you ever want to play new games then don't waste 170$ :p
For what you get it's definately worth the 170$ but as I said, you don't really get anything

For another hundred dollars you could get a net book with far more modern components that could do way more than anything this hunk of junk could. If you absolutely need a 6 year old computer sitting around your house, then sure, grab it. Otherwise, you'd be better off getting an Asus netbook for a little more money.

from personally having owned a netbook, i disagree. the atom processor that they use is absolute junk, ie i had trouble doing menial tasks like surfing the web, the keyboard is squished so it is hard as hell to type on (i have really dmall hands, can only reach ctrl+6), the screen is miniscule and there is no way in hell u can play any games on it (bw will run, but i would not wanna play w/ that screen+keyboard). hands down the worst 280 bucks i spent in my recent years.

Well, it depends what you're using it for. I personally haven't had your issues with web browsing, and the keyboard on mine is close to 90% the size of a normal keyboard. It's great for taking notes, has a stupidly long battery life, and is super portable. I just don't see how a desktop computer with inferior specs to most of the netbooks out there would be worth even considering. I can't play 3d games on mine, but lots of indie stuff (Terrarria, Binding of Isaac, MeatBoy) works fine, and older games (Civ III, Railroad Tycoon 2, X-Com) have no issues.

I think it really depends what model you get, and what you're expecting out of it. It won't surpass a $1300 desktop in anything besides portability, but then again it costs $1000 less.

Just based on the parts I think $170 is too much. It's more like $100 imo.

Oh there's no graphics card in it... That pretty much guarantees that you won't be able to do anything other than browsing the internet with this comp :p

I worked in a computer and tech place for two years and theres no chance I would buy this. You can't do much with it and what you can do with it, it wont do very well. As said above about the netbooks, they are a huge waste of money... the things just crap out at all times and seriously I dont know why anyone buys them anymore. (unless you buy a super high end version of it that costs $$$$$$$). From a customer service side.. those netbooks are #1 pretty much for returns so avoid.

I needed a portable computer and the netbook only fulfilled the first part. Even at that, it wasn't that portable: you can't whip out a netbook and look for directions or check your email on the fly. I'm an apple hater (I hate apple - added for emphasis) and buying a netbook promptly made me sell it back on amazon marketplace and go out and drop $500 on an iPad. That's how much the netbook sucked.

we talking 6800 or like a 6200? sc2 is more processor dependent so u can probs run sc2 on medium, but even if it's the 6800, it's a really old card. I used to have a 6800 and played games like oblivion on it years ago, prolly cant keep up with any of the newer titles. If it's like a 6600 or 6200, forget about games lol
