Am I the only one who's sick of people on ladder BMing you after the game and putting your on ignore first so you can't respond? Now, I have no problem with people BMing after the game. It's a part of Starcraft. But if you're one of those people who BMs with ignore on, then you're a fucking coward who can't take any BM back.
It's understandable though because there are many cowards in this world. But how in the world did Blizzard think it's a good idea to make "Block Communication" a one way block. If you don't want messages from the other player, you should not be able to send any messages back. I can't see how it's fair for one person to write some shit about you but you're not able to respond back.
Second problem. The "Can't message player because you're not on his friend's list". Blizzard should make a exception to people who the player recently messaged because otherwise it's the same problem as above. But this blocks most players even without you clicking on anything.
That is a special kind of sad, but I always put it them on ignore anyway. Give em a GG and a fat ignore. I figure they will see the ignore and be a lot more pissed than I am about seeing theirs that way.
Yup, this is pretty much SC2, i'm so tired of this after every game I just block communication with whoever I just played, so annoying when they message you either to gloat about how they won or complain about how OP your race is and how non-skilled you are. On top of that, while bming me they usually have me already on block so I can't do anything about it, might as well just block everyone. :3, not perfect but it's working out.

Being in high masters, whenever that happens to me, I just queue up quickly and often Ill get the same person again xD. There was this one time where it was even funnier cause I won the 2nd match by cheesing him and he couldn't even respond to me due to me blocking him back.
I can see how it would be annoying, but does it really matter ? I try to respond and if it doesnt work I just shrug and forget about it. And usually my response is something like "Ok" or "yea" to most kinds of BM, as cliche as it sounds Im pretty sure it 's pretty effective.
The purpose of post-game BM is to infuriate the other person. When you do it then block them, you do it under the assumption that it will piss them off even more than just saying it and letting them reply.
It's not about not being able to take the heat and being a coward. It's about pissing you off as much as possible.
I love receiving BM! It just means that I've really pissed the guy off and it makes me laugh that he's so angry that he has to write a tonne of shit to me, but is so afraid that he ignores first. Always gives me a good chuckle
It's intended to piss the person off even more that they can't respond. If it's done to me I'll log on a smurf and do it back. It's an absolute waste of time but it makes me feel better about a loss. Also, if you're patient and wait for him to finish his rant and don't ignore him back immediately, you can probably queue at the same time. I do it all the time.
I agree. I try not to let that stuff bother me, but in certain circumstances it's just infuriates me. Your idea for being able to message someone back who's messaged you recently would be nice, so I could point-out a few choice things in response to my aggressor.
I agree with you 100%z It's the lamest thing a person can do because what's the point of insulting if you can't handle an insult yourself. Just says a lot about your character. I often bm in games to the extreme, and people end up ignoring me then bming me back. I've had people message me for like 30 mins after a game. I never ignore, I never have and never will. Bring on the beef!

I find the BM amusing, because they typically got their butts kicked by me and go on a massive losing streak. As for the chat issues you have, it is a problem and an odd decision on Blizzard's part but it is pretty negligible.
I agree on both points. I'm not exactly sure why Blizzard enabled the "Can't message player because you're not on his friend's list" option for everyone. If you're so frustrated in losing that you feel the need to lash out verbally you should in fact be immediately berated by someone to make you feel even worse. In fact blizzard should set up a system where if they detect BM a giant popup appears in the middle of your screen that says "OH SHIT SON, SHIT JUST GOT REAL" and you have a rap battle to settle your grievances. Only way to be fair about BM imo.
As others have said before, there is nothing more infuriating than not being able to respond back to bm after the other person messages you first. Therefore, if ever I play a game during which the other player bmed, I just immediately block communications with him. Then if I'm winning I might just happen to accidentally throw an offensive GG at him. Of course, he won't be able to respond back after the match as I will have blocked him already. But let me make clear that I only do this when the other player started with the bm.
I guess I'm the only person who's anti-social enough to block the shit out of everyone in-game as soon as they say something that's not glhf or friendly banter.
It can be fun sometimes. I had a guy who was apparently pissed about being bad and losing a lot so he started calling my race imbaimba right at the start. I blocked him right away but kept saying things like "Tell me more" and "Oh is that right?" whenever I had time. Watched the replay after to see the chat and he had quite the conversation going. ^_^

I too view Blizzard's decision to make the ignore function not bar you from messaging them as a strange one. Reasoning is identical for yours.
I refuse to be upset by the cowards, because I do not give cowards the power to affect my mood. They are exposed by their actions and deserve nothing more than disregard. I mean you can sense this stuff coming from the BM present within the game, or the rage-quit at the game's termination. So when that whisper box pops up, just minimize and go on with your laddering.
The point of BM is to make the other person angry, not to draw out a conversation.
That's the whole point of the BM + ignore combo. It ticks off the other person with standard level BM but since the other person can't respond, that little bit of anger is bottled up with no outlets. So the anger and frustration keeps boiling and getting worse.
I'm not sure where cowardice comes into play. Honor and bravery have nothing to do with wanting to BM. It's simply there to make the other person feel bad to make the BM-er feel better.

Great thing about this is that it isnt social environment so you can ignore what he is saying or ignore him back after that first line "your mother sux dic". ok ok.. I admit that its always funny to throw water to stove when person is BMing in spirit which I said before but BMers are becoming very smart nowadays so you sometime have to have actually have effort to have good comeback if you start showing your verbal Jackie Chan. And sometime you might even lose which is more frustrating then losing to cannon rush in situation where you saw the first second the pylon was being built and decided to be Chuck Norris and have with couple of drones 2 good nibble and snipe the probe and kill the pylon with 1 drone to gain mental advantage when going to early game, also maybe 2 snaps with your map control zerglings to give the cannon rusher that message that hes pylon is being killed and he sees the lings but u still kill it with the 1 drone.

I like to think of myself as being good mannered 99% of the time but when people bm me like this I feed on it. I play macro games. always expand. upgrade my units. and then get full out rage for 10 minutes from somebody? Oh man it makes my day. Just bask in it and enjoy Sometimes it'll make you a little bit mad but smile knowing you've made their day much worse ^^
When I went back to play some SC2, it happened a lot to me.
The thing is though that the only thing I wanted to type if they BMed me was "lol you're bad" or "lol you're garbage" or something like that.
But I guess they don't need me to spell that out for them, so whatever.

As the people here who do it have mentioned, they BM and then ignore to enhance their trolling(and because they are bitches.) If that is their reason, I'll play their game and try the off chance of getting them suspended for a few days. It only takes 2 seconds so I might as well.

it was actually because i saw a kid doing this IRL that i pretty much stopped any BM altogether. Not that i did the little block/msg trick, but i realized how much of a tool in general it makes you.

One of the most annoying things to me, especially when their criticisms are dumb. That being said most of the BM then block comes when you win, so you do feel good beating that guy anyway.
i think the real issue here is being able to cheese and beat better players tehn you in sc2. if a kid BMs me who 111 and tells me "its the only way terran can beat toss" and thinks hes good and then continues to msg me calling me bad THAT sort of bm i find the most frustrating.

man this shit just happened to me yesterday funny that theres a blog about it =p not surprising though! usually I dont get angry but the guy kept saying that terran was OP and trying to get me off my game but I think he fucked himself up more just typing profanity, I finally lost it at the end and was bm back after his failed attempts T_T tough times. After the game he messages me again and says all this shit and I have been ignored T_T
