Update February 15: The track got signed, and it came out on Monday on Beatport! My first "official" release. Thanks to everyone who gave it a listen!

I've posted several blogs about my dubstep / electro house production. Hopefully the one AFTER this one will be about the big success I had in subjecting my music to professional critique.
This track is a collaboration between me and a guy from California (Electrode, I linked his FB page on SoundCloud if you want to check him out - he does sweet electro house).
The song is pretty much exactly what I try to go for. At least, it represents one of the many feelings I try to capture in my music. It's melodic with "epic" chords and an electro feel (it is not traditional old school U.K. dubstep, no, but I respect and enjoy that style very much). I'd love to hear what you guys think, Electrode and I have worked really hard on this one!
For my other songs I SoundCloud I have downloads enabled. Since I sent this one to labels I don't want "unsolicited" copies out there. But, I don't really care about that, except I suppose I should in a professional capacity. If you like the song, PM me for a download link for the full version (this preview is half the song).

I use:
Ableton Live for arranging / writing / editing / effects
Native Instruments Massive for creating sounds
Izotope Ozone for mastering (record labels tend to master their own songs, so this is just for a "good enough" job to get it out there

Thanks. Neither am I actually, so much of it is people arguing what dubstep actually is... I played guitar in melodic death metal bands for 6 years (you can see a video in one of my older blogs), and started producing 15 months ago. I just write notes that please my ear! And basslines that I hope will make people move.

I feel that you should work more on ironing out the transitions. After 1:58 and 2:38 I was pretty surprised to find myself where I was.

Obviously I was going for the "oh this is so pretty and majestic now what just happened." But it's definitely hard to know how much "sense" a transition is going to make by the time you've heard it (literally) 100 times and changed it over and over again.
I think it often occurs with the genre, there are plenty of times I've been dancing in clubs and been like "...what?" I'll keep it in mind, thanks for giving it a thorough listen!

Your track is solid, I like the extra melodicness, which I always look for in dubstep.
Your bass is pretty uninteresting though, with dubstep being the hot genre it is now, every talented producer is pumping this stuff out. You really have to do something memorable to make any impression at all. Right now your bass isn't doing that, its low end is a bit weak and mostly it just doesn't sound unique or cool compared to 9million other bedroom dubstep projects. Really sit down with Massive and an effects chain and see if you can get a sound thats even a bit different and recognizable from what you've been hearing in other tracks, it is possible. Most of the real recent dubstep breakout artists have a signature bass sound that is instantly recognizable (at least until everyone else copies it). Hell you even have guys getting minor acclaim and signed like Dubsidia who literally can only do one unique bass apparently and just suck balls at actual track composition...lol
The only other thing is that I think you are abusing the stereo panning a bit, it sounds ok in headphones but its always better to use stereo with restraint. Otherwise it start sounding very funky when you play the track on, for instance, a set of widely spaced PA's at a show.

Good tune over all, though, I would have liked to see your lead cut out at the last part of the breakdown, just before the drop, that would have the drop so much bigger. Also I miss some hats or something airy in the background, but then again im using shit headphones atm ^^
