...for my friends that don't watch SC2.
My apartmentmates always are asking about "that game I play endlessly in my room" so I figured this weekend I would show them.
I'm thinking about having the party from the lower bracket finals all the way through the grand finals. I think the fact that someone will be winning $50,000 will be interesting enough to catch there attention, but then the game, like it did with so many of us, will draw them in for life :D
I plan on inviting the guys I live with and then inviting their girlfriends and a couple of other people. It should be fun! Have some pizza, soda, etc. etc. At any rate it would be good to hang with people.
I plan on giving everyone a couple of sheets of paper. A "viewing guide": http://i.imgur.com/n8hAq.jpg and then a compilation of the tournament structure and payout for MLG in particular. As far as player profiles go, I think I can handle them as it comes up. After all, we'll only be watching two matches.
But what do you guys think? Should I give this a go? Anything I should add or subtract? I'm really excited and think this could be awesome. Let me know!

Sounds like a good idea! Wish I had people to watch with.

You should find someone that also likes SC, and bring them. It validates ESPORTS even more.

Unfortunately, this school doesn't have many people that like it. I'm making an FAQ right now that explains the massive amounts of viewers. Just breaking the ice of "here's what they're doing" is gonna be tough. After that though, I think it's game on.

Best of luck maybe you will get a couple of converts.

GL man, all my friends know I'm a huge nerd, i should try to invite them over for a viewing sometime like yourself.
Keep the updates flowing

They won't understand, they will think its more like a movie, I tried this with my RL friends and they really didn't like it (watching streams/tourneys) until they played the games themselves.
But hey, maybe they tried bw

Hey man! Love the "viewing guide!" Let us know how this turns out!!

Good luck, I'm planning something similar actually.

I get a lot of people who say "Oh starcraft 2? I played the first one's campaign...it was hard, I never beat it." So some people know about it, but that doesn't really help sometimes L:
Here's the pastebin. If anyone wants the actual mediafire for their own use, I'll upload: http://pastebin.com/DRB2MqQB

I'll make edits as people think they need it. Keep in mind, I'm trying to keep it simple.
Also note, the image on the document isn't mine. Credits to reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/lp2wp/my_take_on_how_to_watch_starcraft/

Good luck!
Another suggestion that I have is (if you're old enough) is to take them to a Barcraft.

But this event is gonna be rocking, I have a feeling...

This reminds me Ted from HIMYM. The episod of Ted trying to show how awesome architecture is. Actually it went really good. GL.
