Fundamentally speaking I don't have anything against plastic surgery but this one was a mistake. She looked amazing before the nose job and now it just looks weird.

Plastic surgery is very common in Korea, teenage girls literally study hard in school just so their parents pay for their surgery. The Korean perception of beauty is completely different from that of the western world, it's pretty sad that they feel the need to change their appearance, and because it is culturally accepted it won't be going away anytime soon. I wish they would have stopped at double eyelid surgery T_T

Yeah this doesn't make any sense to me. She looks damn good before and now her new nose is horrible (hair doesn't help either). What i'm wondering is why she would want a nose to stick out more? Usually its a reduction in nose size.

Actually in Asia girls more often go for nose enlargements.. weird I know.
But people have different tastes, maybe she wants to attract Kermit, we all know what he likes..

My mother always said that she wanted her nose to sharp like a Westerner's so much that she pinches her nose and encouraged me to do so when I was young.
Then I went to Italy and saw some real sharp noses pointing up.................................................... Damn that's ugly.
So naturally Koreans may have that mindset like my mother's

I don't know about Korea, but I know in Japan, they consider "higher" noses to be more beautiful if that makes any sense. I'm guessing its the same with Korea. I don't especially agree with that, as she looked fine before.

Btw I'm of course not naive enough to believe this was her first surgery, she probably had a ton of others before and I accept it as an inevitable evil in the modeling world. But I only accept it as long as the girl actually looks better after than before. This case is clearly an example of oversurgery and coming from my ex-favorite model it makes me mad.

I hope you're joking because I'm not being pretentious. I sincerely believe that someone's life which doesn't have any connection with mine should be as enjoyable as possible. Even if I did have dictator-like powers to tell everyone in the world how to present themselves according to my subjective beauty, it wouldn't be worth caring about.

Ack sometimes I hate that my own culture has this fake and obviously ridiculous contempt for people who appreciate beauty. It's fine, some people are superficial - but I wouldn't be happy if my girlfriend got a voldemort-style nose or a tattoo all over her face.
Would I still have righteous people telling me I should like her for what's inside? It's perfectly legitimate to like and value someone's physical appearance.

When I look at Kim In Ae now I can't help but feel that something is deeply wrong. So yeah I'm terrified by the idea that I could eventually feel the same when looking at my gf if she decided to undergo a completely unnecessary surgery. Yes, this Korean model is not my gf, and yes, I extrapolate, same as if you're a parent and the kid next block goes to the hospital for overdosing you can't help but worry a tiny bit about your own kids. I don't think people are taking "offense" to your opinion, but they're dumbfounded by it.
1- His attraction to his girlfriend is not entirely physical, but if she was 300 lbs and hairy, he probably wouldn't like her anymore. Basically: appearance is important.
2- One physical change can be enough to turn a beautiful person into a not-so-beautiful person. This is where you're wrong when you say "the relationship obviously isn't a big deal". My girlfriend is beautiful, but if she got her nose lifted up so that her nostrils would point straight ahead like a pig nose, she'd suddenly stop being attractive. I'm not particularly superficial, but I really really like her and how she looks, and it would be a really big problem to me if she altered her body - especially her face. The nose is the CENTER of your face - changing it is not "just one change", it's a big change.
3- It has nothing to do wanting or thinking he can control what surgery she gets. Again, it has nothing to do with control. Just his personal feeling about it. I can't keep my gf from piercing her nose or tongue (thank god she has no interest in doing so), but I would still be sad if she did.

I despise this cultural trend. Even this successful plastic surgery look I don't find attractive. All these Korean girls look the same. They have no personality and their faces show none. And then we have young girls comparing themselves to those pictures. I personally get pissed when woman sexualize a male. It kind of offends me and hurts my pride. I really don't know how females can bear this.
Personally when I see a female I immediately rate her looks. This must he 100% genetic and pretty much universal. It makes me feel like an animal. I see this on the internet also. Anytime a picture of a female appears somewhere, people will comment on her looks. Be it here on SC, something on youtube, some new politician on some news site, etc.
If you are an ugly female you are basically fucked.

Well you can look at it the other way.
Below-average-looking men can be very charismatic and work hard to be successful and that will offset their looks and make them attractive to women.
Below-average-looking women used to be screwed because no matter how rich or successful they got, men would always think of them first and foremost as below-average-looking women.
Well at least now if they work hard to be successful and rich they can pay for surgery and buy back the attractiveness they didn't have the luck to get on the dice roll at birth.
This or they can be stupid and lazy but have a rich dad that will buy them the complete surgery package anyway so they can marry a rich guy and get by through life being a trophy wife.

More seriously the most bizarre thing about this documentary was the desire to look like a certain star. I figured patients just wanted to fix what they thought looked bad about their face, not look like a particular star. I wouldn't fucking want to look like anyone else that's for sure.
