Maybe the Isle of Man? lol It's a real place and I'm sure it has a minority on it... like 1 person. Maybe not. Trying to make light of it but it really is kind of sad =/ NOPE lol not even CLOSE. You have Irish, Welsh Scottish and Brits ALL hating each other and people from the isle hating everyone

Edit: But I think racism exists in some form everywhere no matter what.

There will be racism, yes even in Canada, and it will vary greatly from a city to another one, from a neighborhood to another one. Different origins often means different cultures with different values which more often then not means disagreements, see where I'm going.

Of course, then those people are labelled 'fake asian (banana)', 'traitors' or conversely have 'yellow fever'. (I know I'm massively generalising). I think it has to start at the grass-roots level and with the young, and they've got to be actively encouraged. I don't think that keeping 'homeland' identity and adopting the culture of a new place especially growing up is mutually exclusive, but it's hard to strike a good balance. That said, I don't feel a shred of sympathy for those that travel abroad for University and avoid using the native language of that country as much as possible. That's just asking to be ostracised and creating a bad image for a particular cultural group. [For background I'm Thai, grew up in Malaysia (in an international school) and I'm doing University in Australia]

Anyways, basically expect racism as the norm rather than the exception

Was getting a really familiar vibe I couldn't put my hand on, esp with the "fake asian" part haha. On topic: From everything I've seen/heard: pretty sure that discrimination /subcategorizing happens everywhere. Might be differences in attitudes though, such as how much people find it offensive or acceptable.

My own personal experiences alone are enough to attest. If you even read the paper or hear the news you'll know that there are racist activities here and there. There is even a Canada subforum on Stormfront. That being said, Canada is much better than America, Korea, Japan, China, Australia, the UK, France, and many many other countries. Canada is one of the best at this, but there is still a quite noticeable racist undertone here as well.
