It was one hell of a road, I played on iCCup for like a year or so, didn't play that much since the ladder was really scary ;_; but I managed to get C- (I think its something like high diamond/masters in terms of skill).
I switched to SC2 on October last year, got placed in gold but I got into diamond fairly quickly, then when masters was released all I did was mass games for pretty much 3-4 days straight and I got promoted (something like 40 ladder games + lots of practice games with friends ^^).
I always dreamed with the day I would get that one next promotion, I have no school atm because of a lot of stuff going on in my country, students are protesting for better and free education ;;, I'm 15 and in high school so I've been off school for around 4 months because of this, lots of time to play ^^. Hopefully, things go back to normal soon because otherwise I will have to give some sort of giant test by the end of the year which will decide if I get promoted or if I have to do this year again and I don't think thats the best way to do it ;;.
I put a lot of time and efforts trying to get better, when I reached 3.4k points in season 1 I realized that there were just many really good players out there and that If I wanted to be one of them I had to give my best. I didn't (and still don't) really know anyone that plays starcraft here in my city (I live in Chile, ESPORTS isn't that big here) so it was really lonely until a fellow named nuCLEAR found a thread I wrote about trying to find practice partners and he sent me a message on B-net (nuCLEAR I love you btw <3 no homo tho).
Just wanted to make this blog (to brag obviously...) so that other people know that you don't need to be a pro, or have 10 years of BW experience, to get Grandmasters, all it takes is practice, a good mindset, lots of efforts and of course never giving up! (and coca cola, lots of coca-cola, no I don't wanna call it coke >_>).
gl hf guys!, btw I'm still looking for a high masters/GM team or practice partners so I can get better and start playing on tourneys ^^.

lol that screenshot was taken when there were only like 50 players (there are like 100 now and i'm 20 something ;; ) and yeah I'm hoping to enter into some tournaments but I don't really know many of them besides the TL opens T.T.

Rank doesn't mean much right now. If you spent all your bonus pool, you start out with 163 pts. If you ladder after you got promoted, you're top 15 GM.

... starcraft 2 ladder makes no sense both my accounts i didnt play more than 10 games on either of my accounts S3 and i get GM on both S4... either a lot of better players stopped playing on NA ladder or the system makes no sense

my tip, don't wait anylonger, start playing in tours today. You should have done that some time ago actually if you haven't yet.
It needs experience, people might play different there, also depending if it's bo1 or bo3 and all that nice stuff, you might also become nervous, so play alot of tours to get used to it first, and gl.

wow I'm looking at GM right now and there are so many baddies in there...wtf it seems like the standards have been set lower or everyones collective MMR is just higher or something...

there are a bunch of mid masters from last season, I mean downright AWFUL players I'm seeing on the list right now.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but the GM selection is very screwed up this season. There are people like DDE/Tod/Idra etc. who have MMRs well beyond what 95% of the current GM players will ever reach. They should have had spots reserved for them like in previous seasons. Hopefully Blizzard realizes the issue and remakes the grandmaster division. I personally don't feel that I deserved to get in, and there are other people who are significantly worse than me but still made it somehow.

Yah it was pretty weird, I think its because GM only counts active ppl from the first week (hence why they say that the first week is decided to determine the top 200 active MMRs), so ppl that didn't play didn't count (most ppl with the mmr high enough played one game after GM was released and they got in ez so thats all they needed to do ;; ).

Take DDE as an example. He was #1 NA GM last season with a very impressive win percentage. In previous seasons, GM would reserve spots for the players with MMRs in the top 200 on the server. Their reservation could only be revoked if either:
A) They accumulated too many bonus points at the start of the season, or
B) Other people play before they have a chance, and their MMR gets surpassed
A) is not an issue because DDE has played some games this season. B) might be a problem for someone on the cusp of the top 200, but DDE is quite clearly one of the 10 best players on the server. It's incomprehensible that 200 people, some of them not even top masters last season, could have surpassed his MMR. Clearly, the system has malfunctioned.
I really hope Blizzard realizes the problem and remakes the division. If that means I get the boot from GM, then so be it. I'd rather be excluded from a fair system than be included in this mess if I don't have a top 200 MMR.

i didnt play until today. i lost my placement match and got put into GM. the GM ladder is just fucked up lol
