Greetings fellow teamliquidians
I have recently been engaged in a prolonged discussion about the sensation of soy. It appears that we cannot reach a consensus on how to describe the sensation of soy to a person who has never experienced it him- or herself. I would like to get some fresh input from the people who frequent these forums.
How would you describe the sensation of soy to a perfect stranger?
Thank you.

Sensation is like eating a bean.
Has the person ate a bean before? The sensation is just like that.
|
Some other descriptions:
Mushed soy: eg. Tofu Sensation is like a jello that melts instead of springs back. Kinda like solidified pigs blood
Liquid: eg. Soy milk Sensation is like water
Liquid eg. Soy sauce Sensation is like water with salt
|
Oh yes forgot:
Solid: eg. Frozen block of soy Sensation is like of cold ice.
|
Also evaporated soy tastes like air.
|
Take the flavor of tofu, make it milder and more distinct.

Thank you for the answers so far.
If you need more inspiration, what's the first thing you think about when the soy hits your tongue? Are you reminded of the cultural diversity and how people can learn from each other across all nationalities and races? How does soy affect your very soul, do you feel peaceful or energized? Tell me!
It's not just the taste of it, it's the whole experience I am looking to describe.

To be serious, when I think of soy, the first thing i think is: soy milk.
As an asian born in canada, I have been haunted by all the stories that have been told of how greedy chinese food manufactures have put chemicals in their drinks/food. Babies have been born as mutants as a result. And therefore I think of sheer horror as I think of soy.

Why I taste soy, I feel a weird crawling in my throat-not an urge to throw up, but rather just a feeling of my mouth bending around the soy. Unfortunately, I don't get epiphanies of thought and philosophy, but that's just me.

I honestly don't know if it's a big "sensation," it tastes how it tastes.

Usually how it tastes inferior to what I want it to be imitating >:
Soy milk, soy pudding, never as good as the original

When soy sauce touches my tongue the first sensation is to wonder if i just licked a block of salt.

Although I'm asian, I generally hate soy product (except soy sauce, though). I think one can define its sensation as a more fermented almond...

I do enjoy soy sauce though .. maybe because my preferred taste in food is somewhat more on the salty and savory side
