This game is amazing.
As I sit here under my blanket, watching Sen vs Ret, sipping my NOS energy drink and enjoying some nice trail mix I figured I would reflect on why I love this game so much and post it in my blog.
I just screamed in a room by myself in my apartment over Ret losing some drones to two banelings in his mineral line. It was amazing. This game appeals to my emotions. It's a game of emotions, split second decisions, and discipline.
I felt like I was roaring along with the blizzcon crowd. My apartmentmates look at me like I'm ridiculous, but I don't care. I love this game. I love the way it makes me feel, think, and act.
Why do you love it?
Hasn't this game taught you things like discipline, humility, and critical thinking skills?
This game means a lot to me. It represents the uprising of my generation. Remember when we were kids, people told us video games would rot our brains? Now it enhances them. Now people make money playing games and guess what, I'm apart of it. I am a member of the ESPORTS community; perhaps I don't have a large role, but I have a role. I can tell my friends and family about the amazingness that is Starcraft 2. This game livens me up. Is there anything else you get up at 4 in the morning for? Absolutely not. I get up at 4 to watch starcraft and cheer along with fans from around the world.
How great is our game.
This game means so much more to me. I really wanna just go and tell everyone about it. I plan on watching the GSL finals tonight and screaming my heart out like I was right there in the crowd as our two terran titans battle it out.
I'm a member of the 99% and I'm proud.

I was totally screaming and flapping my arms every time Sen's banelings got close to Ret's zergling pack. Some really impressive (albeit short) games.

Playing SC2 makes me sad. Losing is frustrating and winning isn't satisfying.

Yeah man although there are some times when this game hurts its always still great.
Like the thrills I receive when watching and playing are unparalleled

I wouldn't say I love this game per se, that wouldn't be honest. But it certainly helped me sharpen my perspective on certain things like the importance of hard work, the right competitive mentality and the power of will.

A member of the 99%? Where did that come from . Maybe trying to share some of the pride from occupy wall street?

Couldn't agree more Most bestest game!
I think it's the come-backs and amazing storylines that keeps me on the edge of my seat through all tournaments. Seriously, how amazing isn't it to see your favorite player just flip the odds and demolish his opponent?
Big love!

I think that this illustrates that you only get out of SC what you give in. If you put in patience and discipline you get the love of the game that OP has. If you play to win and only when you feel it can really mess with you.

This. It truly is a give take relationship with this game and the community. Irresponsible dickhead? Yeah you'll hate the game and the community that is enthralled with it. Pay your dues and love it for what it is? You'll have a lifetime friend.
I used to play World of Warcraft and while I would still consider that my "favorite game of all time" (I didn't play broodwar, so I've played WoW for about 10 years), I have this deep love for Starcraft that I never had for WoW. Not better, just different. Like Blizzard, for as much crap as I give them, really has crafted special games that have captivated my heart. I do plan on crying a bit when WoW is officially dead because of their newer MMORPG that is gonna come out. It's a part of my life and I am willing to let SC2 have that part of my life as well.
Don't hear me wrong, video games aren't the only thing I live for. I have a beautiful girlfriend that I want to spend the rest of my life with. She understands my love for this game and community despite it only being slightly older than a year old. I also live for theology. I'm a theology major and want to become a "faith" based scholar.
But this game has a certain part of me. it entices my competitive side that hasn't ever went away since I started playing physical sports. It creates a feeling of unity within me. "You mean I'm watching this with how many other people? and they love it as much as I do???"
Dude, it's fascinating. Starcraft isn't for everyone, but the feeling of being passionate about something it. Starcraft 2 definitely makes me feel this passion.
