A good coach isn't "a great player". imo its all about understanding of the game and matchups.

I figured it was okay to post as I am just looking for people to help me get better at coaching. I did not claim prestige or anything. I have a lesson plan for my first lesson to new students, and I've been giving this a bit of thought. I'm not trying to waste TL space and time I'm sorry you feel that I am. Just trying to "get my foot in the door" of the TL community if you will.

Just be aware of your own shortcomings as a diamond player while coaching and avoid areas you may not be fully confident in while playing and you should be fine to teaching any bronze/silver/gold players.

Let me tell you that. I am in gold league and I don't play many games, but I watch some streams and I have a good understanding about the game. In late February my bro started SC2 and he was placed in bronze. Now he is in mid-higth masters (6-20 position) and I coached and keep coaching him. The division that you are in doesn't make you a good or bad coach.
And just to let you know I have helped (coached) many friends in very dificult lessons in my university, and thats why I am a good coach. So good player != good coach. (!= means not equal)

This is a testimony: I was coached by Sargon and I really did enjoy the coaching. He is a very pleasant person to play with and he has a great style of coaching as he pays great attention to detail. He allows you to tell him what you want to focus on for the lesson and this and this really means that you do what you want to do in the lesson. His attitude to the game and lower league players is great and not condescending. I highly recommend Sargon as a coach to anyone.

2 1-post members al recommending Sargon all of a sudden. Hmmm... seems a bit sketch... But still, best of luck!

I'd love to get some training from you, if you're interested in training a writer for GameReplays.Org, my ID is TriggerSappy.923, add me in-game and I'll send you an email with replays. I might even write about the experience and make a spotlight on training SC2 on the website
Of course if you don't want that, I'd be more than willing to forgo that

Hey whiteshadow and Trigger, I added you guys on Bnet. Waiting until we see each other online might take longer than desired, so feel free to email me or pm me here at TL (my email is in the OP) to set up a time and date for lesson. Trigger I don't think I've gotten an email from you, but it might just be stuck in the web :-P. Your work with gamereplays.org is intriguing, tell me all about it . BTW I'm about to do season 4 placements so I'll edit the OP if I get masters!!!

Space between the paragraphs, makes up for indentations

I would love some coaching as well if you have time, I'm a high gold Zerg. I am really interested in getting a more solid style of gaming against all three races, I have noticed my style is completely different than most pro's. I think it is holding me back, not doing timing pushes etc.

Anyway let me if you have time.

I have pretty much the same issue hughie describes. New to Platinum in Top 8 currently. I often play really good games which I follow with really bad ones. I am still a bit struggling with when to move from econ to army etc. If you had any time to help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Peace.

Had an awesome session with Sargon. I was doing pretty poorly before and something clicked during that session and I was doing Masters/GM level SQ play afterwards for a bunch of games. Thanks a bunch!

Actually you do need to be a great player, to coach well. Yes you are right on the understanding of the game and matchups and I 100% agree with you there. The thing I don't agree with is that you don't need to be a "great player".
For Example: Day 9 has an amazing understanding of this game and every single matchup as well as JP, Artosis, Tateless etc.

Day 9 just recently and is currently in Grandmasters league play "random" as his race selection. (NA Server)
JP is also high masters, top 20 with "random" as his selection.(NA Server)
Artosis is Protoss, top 5 in Masters League.(Korean Server)
Tasteless also top 20 Masters league.(Korean Server)

You do in fact need to be a "Great Player" to understand all of the games and matchups. You can't just be a crappy player and know what you are talking about trying to teach someone. This was not directed at you "Fusionz" it is just my overall opinion on what you had to say.
