So i just finished a track progressive trance song, probably the best track i've made thus far....
I usually do improve myself every song i make, but this is several steps ahead of my previous productions in terms of quality, probably my breakthrough as a producer (i hope).

So I've been thinking of sending the demo to some label and see if i get any positive feedback.
I'd be interested in your honest opinion as well (If you are a person who likes trance).
I'm always taking note to what people say/think, it makes me better.

Any suggestions on labels would be cool too, i don't know too many

Link: http://soundcloud.com/altitude08/global-deception-maitreya

Hope you enjoy it!

PS.
I mastered the song on a pair of shitty headphones so the mix may not be perfect.
DS.

Listening to it now, sounds really good so far (about halfway through). I love this kind of music, wish I had the musical ability/inclination to produce tracks myself.

definitely needs some mastering work, it feels like some elements are fighting each other... but I like the general track, I'd play it in a set.

I'd just look at some of the smaller trance labels on beatport, and see where your track might fit in.

Definitely what i think. It sounded a lot like a big mess at times to be honest, but could easily be really good tune after some rework.

I think that the vocals may be a little off key, but that might just be me. Other than that, I actually thought that the song was pretty damn good. I listen to pretty much all electronic music though, so if some elements clash it doesn't bother me. Anyways, I really liked it

Okay nice, are you mixing your sets at ? And yeah, absolutely, ill master the song later when i get my proper headphones back it may sound bad on that end, if those are the elements that are fighting eachother.

Yeah i don't like vocals really though in general i prefer dub versions, so I'm gonna release that one too, but im gonna wait until i got my proper headphones back so i can master it properly as well, Thanks!

Hey mate, nice friggin job!

I agree with the above that there are some parts where there is maybe just a little bit too much going on, but otherwise this track has some serious potential! Keep working on it :D

I think you made a cool track. the arrangement is a bit unorthodox to make any mainstream labels pick it up, but the sounds are cool. There isnt really any problem with the mastering as such, it sounds nice. But you could separate some sounds in the mix first. The kick gets drowned on occasions by the imense soundscapes on top, and thats not a mastering issuse, but something that you should work with in the mix before the mastering stage.

The details are awesome. I rarelly find the ambition to create something like this. But what i like the most is that it still sounds like your style, just more refined everytime.

Thanks for the kind words :p I always try to improve my style, and about the arrangement, it can probably get fixed, ill try to change it later maybe, and yeah i didnt make a good mixdown but it's not too shabby considering i worked with a pair of in-ear pieces by sony lol :D

About it being unorthodox is something i like, i got my own style and i don't try to copy others too much, i want to be creative and have fun while making music. Then if it's mainstream or not is not as much of my concerns, either it's bad or its good music which is pretty relative i guess .

i didnt mean the music itself was unorthodox, but the arrangement. these genres usually follows some general guidelines for arrangement cause of dj mixing and whatnot. And the mixdown is great for the pads and stabs, but its drowning the kick. if you want to make it a clubby track, mabye sidechain a bit more to make room for the kick. But another approach is to tone the kick down and make it loungier/more chilled out aswell.

I think it sounds good as it is, but if you were thinking of sending demos around, its possibly feedback like this you will get, granted you find a label that isnt consisting of assholes who cant spend 3 minutes replying to an email

Edit: also dont discard those ear plugs so easily. Many modern pop producers use ipod ear plugs for mastering since their music will generally mostly be played in ipods

Okay yeah i gave it another mastering session compressed some more and changed the levels on the instruments, the kick is more clear now and gives a better drive in it's whole, also sidechained a pad to help out with that. Maybe it sounds better now, gonna re-upload it when i've fixed the vocals.

sounds very good buddy

edit: some labels care less than others, but consider taking the demo down from public when you are sending it around. Also, most labels 'want 2 weeks' time to listen to your track, but if they dont like it you wont hear a word from them. When i send a demo to a new label i give them 2 working days before i will pass it on to someone else. If they cant muster time to listen to a new track within 48 hours and get back to the artist if they like what they hear, then their establishment feels pretty unserious in my eyes.

You are the producer, they are just the middle hand to the customer. Dont let a demo process bend your perception of who the more important part is (you).
