Where I really just wanna get better at this game. I know that sounds stupid. Your probabaly thinking, "Imjorman...everyone wants to get better at this game. That's why were here." Right. But I really want to improve.
For the first time earlier this week I was looking for streams to watch and decided, "I just actually wanna play." And that has been my theme for the past week - playing instead of watching. There is obvious benefit to watching, but I would always watch a stream if it was on and play if there were no other options. For the first time I'm wanting to just improve...and it's really cool.
I just raced switched. I was a platinum terran player, I liked it but I was tired of being that "IMBA" race. So I switched to zerg and have been LOVING it.
I did the stupid thing of deranking myself to silver. I asked for advice about it and completely ignored it, but it has been a good experience learning how to play zerg and not having to worry about winning because I can just on mechanics alone.
But yeah, I just wanted to share that I'm having a great time learning a new race and trying to improve myself into a better player. I'm setting a pretty steep goal of Masters by January. I don't know if I can accomplish that goal, but there it is. Short term, looking to be plat again by the middle of October.
Well, I know most of you don't care, but thank you so much for reading anyway :D

I am kinda in the same position as you!!! alothough i didnt race chage (i did that beginning of S3) i still want to get better. i have the same goal to get masters within a year, and i hope to get plat before december

come on guys, haha you'll be able to get to masters within a couple months have faith !
well, msg me on NA if you guys would like some form of help
mechanics will get a lot better soon if you keep working hard at it, and forcing yourself at times. the streams that you watch showcase that being able to multitask brings a lot of options for you. liquid`hero for example perfects everything early game to the very movement of his probes----it is obvious it's because, aside from control his mechanics and actions early game are perfect and practiced. maybe this is what you could try aiming for straight away now that you have an idea of what it takes.
but have some more faith : D i think confidence goes a long way, and is very positive to learning
1v1 masters in a week NOPROBLEM!

Thanks for the encouragement :D I just don't know if I have the time to practice that much! I have a full class schedule this semester and a couple of other university duties that are weighing me down a bit
So that's why my time frame is a little more expanded.

Be wary of the the sudden new love for the game after race switching. It doesn't last long and is almost certainly independent of any particular affinity for the race itself.
Just as a story, I have a friend who was offered a spot on a lesser known pro gaming team, to get payed to play, but he couldn't do it. Because he couldn't stay with 1 race. He couldn't decide which one he would play, exclusively, and that was part of the contract. He is top 200, he is great, but not as good as he could be with playing only 1 race.
I certainly hope it is still as fun for you after 2 months as Zerg. GL

If you've ever been in silver, you're not going to make masters 99 times out of 100.

That is flat out wrong oO. I started in bronze and stayed there for a loooooooooong time, but when I actually started looking at the game with a mindset on improving it really didn't take all that long for me to climb up and I'm a masters player now. It's not beyond anyone to make it to masters level. Anyone.

Besides me thinking your statement is wrong, let me clarify my placement. I was platinum as a terran deranked myself (losing on purpose) to become in silver so I could work on the mechanics of zerg without having to worry about win/lose.
So I'm not a silver player, but I disagree with the notion that you can't be masters if you started lower.

This statement to me is very VERY untrue. If the person goes into the game with absolutely no knowledge on the game but has the determination to improve his gameplay. Then he will obviously rank up. I started in silver back when sc2 was released and I had very little (hardly even) experience with competitive 1v1's. However, I had the determination to practice more on my mechanics and learn build orders from the pros and I got into diamond in 1 month (no masters league back then)

You're not in my division anymore?! Bummer. Well, at least we're the same race now :D

You might be that 1 in 100, then again you might not.

losing on purpose is actually against the contract u agree to :O
but besides that, if u keep playing ull get better, just like playing piano or something similar, ull know where the keys r without looking and mechanics will start to form adding ur own twist to it

I believe I can translate:
"Hi, I'm zorkmid and I like to rag on people worse than my self-perceived skill level so I can feel better about myself."
I am a horrible player, but I found zerg way more fun (barring zvz) than terran or toss. Good luck with your goal, I hope you carry through with it - I keep thinking to myself I'll do the same, but I never go through with it. Best of luck to you mate.
Also you will learn to hate zvz with a violent, fiery burning passion of a thousand suns.
