My request, coming from an employee of Zinemax (ZineMax Media Inc.), is that you kindly piss off and stop downloading Bethesda games, as they are lovely people and don't deserve to be pirated from.
Thanks! \o/
+ Show Spoiler + Yes I know people will always pirate everything forever, but it doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. And I also know it won't stop people from pirating Skyrim. :p
I'll still kindly request that people pirate first, and buy afterwards, if they enjoy the game enough, as if a game doesn't do well in sales, a lot of people in the dev team get unjustly fucked for it and usually have to go find new jobs. Lol. The more you know!

I never understood any of this data piracy stuff... I just doesn't make sense to me.
How can you "own" data, as in own a string of numbers or something? What does that mean? Let's say a song can be reduced to a string of 1's, and 0's. Do they own only that specific set? How many digits would I have to change before they can't claim ownership over the data anymore?
And data can be converted into so many different formats. If I encrypt a movie and let people download it, they aren't downloading the movie. They are downloading a useless string of data. So is "converting" or "adapting" data so that it resembles data that other individuals or companies own also illegal?
I just don't understand any of it. Anyway, that sucks for you OP. My wife and I still pirate like crazy lol... Here's another thing I can't understand: Let's say you argue that you have an unsecured wireless connection, and that it wasn't you who actually pirated the movie? How can they possibly prosecute you then? The whole thing is just so ridiculous to me.

LOL, I didn't know the porn industry has jumped on the RIAA-style-anti-piracy bandwagon.

How can they possibly prosecute you then? The whole thing is just so ridiculous to me. Someone assembled those 1s and 0s into a useful order. That's what your paying for - the order that costs a lot of money to develop. It's not stealing because you haven't taken any property, but it's illegal because people put time and effort into developing that order of 1s and 0s.
Someone invents a new medicine. You can't just take the formula for yourself and go "LOL it's just carbon and hydrogen and oxygen." Bad analogy but you get the point.
The fact that you think it's ridiculous is ridiculous to me. Just admit that you don't think you will get caught so it's nice getting stuff for free. Don't pretend that it's ridiculous and only 1s and 0s so there's no problem pirating.
Anyways, it's a complicated issue so I don't want to get too deep into it.

damn you just got suckered for $3400. best response to those letters is to retain legal advice and ignore that letter.

The fact that you consider stealing in the future once away from people who can actually effectively monitor your actions is concerning, but none of my business, so whatever. Pirating and stealing are different things. Please explain?

Stealing removes the item from the owners possession. Pirating does not.
It doesn't make it less wrong, but they are not the same.

Like every month or whenever I feel like it I show my parents/aunt/uncle random new movies, DVD pirated of course, and when they asked me about it.. I just explained its like jay walking or littering.. illegal but no one really gets caught, and it can be expensive if you do. I guess its what your family is like, I just think if I ever got caught like that, it wouldn't be that terrible. Aside from the 3400, they would freak the fuck out. and Bro Redtube.

Assuming that's a stab at the whole Scrolls lawsuit.
a) that's Bethesda's Lawyers - Notch is a very good friend of Bethesda (They were making jokes back and forth with him, it was hilarious. Plus the Quake match or w/e was agreed on, but the Lawyers didn't want to make fools of themselves and said no)...They lawyers over there are just being a-holes.
b) Zinemax != Bethesda. Zinemax Online Studios is the same "level" in the company as Bethesda, in that they're both owned by Zinemax Media Solutions.
c) LOL. XD

Can't you just get past all that username shit by booting the computer in safe mode and creating yourself a new user account with admin rights? Possibly remove all the control software while you're at it.

Man, getting popped for pirating porn on a family member's internet when you could have streamed... that's rough! Hope it all worked out

Also, what involvement does Zenimax have, exactly?
