Hey fellow Teamliquidians,
I just borrowed all James Bond Movies from a friend and started to watch them in chronological order. In my opinion are the old movies much better than the new ones since the old ones have much more of this secret agend flair that made the movies so magical when I watched them for the first time when I was kid.
This leads me to the question I'm curious about and why I actually started this blog post:
Poll: Who is James Bond for you?Sean Connery (71) 41% Pierce Brosnan (66) 38% Roger Moore (16) 9% Daniel Craig (16) 9% Timothy Dalton (4) 2% George Lazenby (1) 1% 174 total votes Your vote: Who is James Bond for you? (Vote): Sean Connery (Vote): George Lazenby (Vote): Roger Moore (Vote): Timothy Dalton (Vote): Pierce Brosnan (Vote): Daniel Craig
For me it's Roger Moore. I guess the main reason for this is the fact that Live and let die is my favorite 007-movie and first the few James Bond movies I watched were starred by Roger Moore. By that time I wasn't aware of the fact, that the actors change over time :D Second best for me is Sean Connery, no doubt about that. I think Pierce Brosnan was a pretty decent James Bond too, even though I didn't like the plots of his movies so much.
I don't really like Daniel Craig acting this role... I don't know but somehow I don't think it fits.

For me, I grew up with Pierce Brosnan as James bond for me especially due to that 007 game for the N64, so for most of my life, Pierce Brosnan was my image of bond. I have yet to watch the other films before I reconsider, though.
|
Wow really? No Sean Connery votes? You must all be trolling.
|
While Daniel Craig doesn't fit the visual image of Bond in my opinion, I really think the personality he has brought back to Bond compared to Brosnan is a breath of fresh air. I would say it is a tie between Craig and Roger Moore for me.
I absolutely hated Pierce Brosnan as Bond. As much of a fan I am, I can barely watch his movies.
|
Not really a huge bond guy... But my image in my head has always been Brosnan because it was in my 'era' of growing up, and because of the videogame, of course.
|
Who would choose Dalton or Lazenby? They were in a total of what, 3 movies all together? It is Connery first, then Brosnan to me. Roger Moore is a distant 3rd, then Craig fourth.
|
I, too, grew up with Pierce Brosnan as Mr. Bond. If someone says "James Bond", Goldeneye is the first thing that pops up in my mind. I do really enjoy Sean Connery's and Roger Moore's movies and think they do exellent James Bond. I just grew up with Brosnan :3.
Is anyone gonna vote on Dalton or Lazenby? lol

Dont make me choose between Connery and Moore...

Sean Connery for sure; used to watch Saturday re-runs of the old movies.
|
Sean Connery for me, actually Roger Moore wasn't bad either and his movies had a special something and were often in 2nd degree, he made James Bond films a comedy and not a spy movie. Special mention to Timothy Dalton, he made a good Bond too. (the music of his only (I think ?) Bond movie is perhaps for something in this.) Brosman and Craig, bleh, especially Craig. Brosman was ok. The thing that doesn't fit for Craig is he's blond. James Bond can't be blond.
|
It changes between Brosnan and Connery for me, I voted Pierce Brosnan because Sean Connery is high :D

Pierce Brosnan is the biggest baller

Connery movies are just the best. Roger Moore always came across as more slapstick than anything. I've not watched any of the Daniel Craig ones so I can't comment on the newest but Sean Connery was the best.

This is prefect, Summary who James Bond is to me. + N64 007 Best game evar!

Brosnan is the defining Bond for me. Craig is pretty good but right now he doesn't stack up to Connery or Brosnan or Moore.
Dalton was really good in License to Kill.
And Lazenby......who voted him???
|
I tend to picture Pierce Brosnan as, like others in this thread, he's the Bond I grew up with.
I also agree that Daniel Craig just doesn't seem to look quite right as Bond but his films have been good.
Sean Connery is definitely among the best but they were all quite entertaining.
Fun fact: I went to the same primary school that Sean Connery went to.
|
Roger Moore, because whenever I think of James Bond I think of him slapping around his Bond girls.
And moon lasers.
|
divided between Brosnan and Sean Connery. I think that growing up, I've seen more Brosnan on TV but Connery is such a bad ass.

Sean Connery hands down. No-nonsense, yet still smooth. He also had the perfect build/looks for the role.
|
Blonde Bond can go to hell!
|
Seen all the Bond-films and i prefered Pierce Brosnan over Sean Connery. Pierce suits the role more IMO, though Sean Connery is a great actor aswell.
|
In terms of looks alone, I think Pierce Brosnan fits the role perfectly (then Lazenby), but in terms of Bond style and total suave Alpha-ness, Sean Connery is it, which is why I think Connery is the best Bond overall.
Roger Moore adds a lot of humour to his Bond films, and you can see they kind of wrote more humour into his films as a result, and that is great when you don't take Bond too seriously. Like this, I prefer Bond movies where the plot is secondary to the general atmosphere of being a awesome pimp spy. This is why I especially don't like Brosnan and Craig films. I don't like the Dalton ones either, for similar reasons.
Connery and Moore are on top, Lazenby is good in his one film, I don't like the others much.

Almost all my favorite Bond films star Roger Moore. Done deal!

#1 Sean Connery #2 Roger Moore #3 Pierce Brosnan
Easy rankings as a huge 007 fan. Nothing makes me happier than when I see a "007 days of ________ (insert holiday)" marathon running on TV. Even though I have seen all of the movie countless times, they are still great to watch.
|
Sean Connery just had it all. There weren't special effects galore either which was nice for me. :D
|
I prefer the Sean Connery movies. They are the most realistic and suspenseful. Plus, he is the only Bond who is believable as a man's man who gets all the ladies. Roger Moore was decent too. He doesn't really ooze masculinity like Connery, but Moore's Bond is more charming and cultured, and he's pretty convincing in that role. Plus, I think the Moore movies were quite well made as a whole. They had the best villains and great humour.
Brosnan is completely undeserving of the amount of votes he's gotten. He only made 1 good movie, Golden Eye, and he's also the most illusive of all Bond characters. But most ppl here, including me are from the Brosnan generation, so it's only natural I guess.
|
Connery, then Moore. Craig is a quite a different Bond, so I wouldn't compare him to the others.
|
I grew up with Pierce Brosnan, so yeah. I haven't watched that many Bond movies, only a couple of them.
|
Pierce got me into Bond, but Connery is the Bond. Dude had that role down pat
however, I agree with the dude a few above that Goldeneye was really the only truly good bond Pierce was in. The others were pretty meh.

This shouldn't even be a contest. Piece Brosnan is James Bond until a movie better than Goldeneye comes out.

Chose Moore though

I'm gonna have to break the tie and say Pierce Brosnan even though I think the movies with Sean Connery and Moore were better(Goldeneye is up there at the top but the next few weren't up to Connery and Moore). And when I'm reading the books by Ian Flemming I can't help picture Pierce as Bond sometimes. Has anyone else actually read the books from way way back? They're much more based on suspense and intrigue, along with some nice sex scenes(that one's probably not different from today).
|
Sean Connery. I can say nothing more than this.
It's fucking Sean Connery.
That said, Daniel Craig deserves an honorable mention. While he's very different, it's really nice seeing the "young" James Bond and Craig plays him very well.
|
I'm glad to throw the vote to bring Sean Connery to the tie. My best friend and I grew up watching Bond movies and it would be sinful to say James Bond is anyone but Connery to us.
But Roger Moore is definitely a recognized answer. Just don't say Timothy Dalton
|
Craig is a unreal bond, so I voted a for him, a very accurate version of the bond potrayed in the books. I grew up with Brosnan and loved his films, they're a nostalgic part of my childhood. But when i look at them now they're a bit over the top. Craig's are much more relistic IMO. Some of Brosnan's one liners are great though.
|
Rodger more is probably #3 or #4 on my list with Craig. I really did not care for him that much at all, especially when stacked up against Pierce and Connery

Sean Connery is the best traditional Bond. Daniel Craig does a good job portraying the darker, edgier Bond.
Roger Moore is a close second for the traditional Bond, simply becuase of how funny he was in his stint as Bond.
|
Roger Moore or Sean Connery. Daniel Craig is too muscular for my taste. He looks like a brute or bodyguard type of guy instead of the cunning and charismatic secret agent with lots of finesse that 007 is supposed to be.

Sean Connery with Roger Moore a very close second. Dalton was pretty good too, I guess. Brosnan is okay. The rest are crap.

Fun fact: I went to the same primary school that Sean Connery went to. I feel the exact same way as the guys I quoted above. My mind can never accept anybody as Bond besides Brosnon or Connery. Golden Eye was the first bond I actually ever really watched. I also played a fuckton of its video game counterpart, the multiplayer only though.
When Brosnon was out so was my interest in the series.
