Lately ive been struggling to balance real life (work , girlfriend, socializing , etc) with starcraft.
Starcraft is important to me. I make friends on starcraft, it tests my mental sharpness, its fun, and i just love it. being good at it and practicing are important to me. Ive been trying to get my gf more involved, trying to make her understand how cool it is, because i think it would be great if we could interact in a meaningful ay, to some extent THROUGH this game i love. No luck tho....she only plays wow. and shes an ally! i know. i tried to talk her out of it.
anyways...
How can i get everything i want to get done DONE, still spend time with my girlfriend and not have my social life decay?!

i should also note that soon (september) ill be moving to a diff city with my two friends ( who also play sc) so i should have alot more time to play then. the tradeoff is that i need to get a new job and my GF isnt coming with

I would dump her. If she cant appreciate starcraft she isnt worth your time. Now youll have more time for starcraft. problem solved.

Its hard balacing those things, between work and my gf i barely have time to play. I tried cutting of sleep hours a couple of months ago but it didnt go that well, i spent most of my days tired. If SC is so important to you you could try to mix the activities, you could explain the game to your gf and who knows, maybe she'll like it and you could expend quality time with her watching games or teaching her how to play

that would be the ideal situation, i tried that and she isnt really interested. the worst part is, i know she feels the same way about me and wow. she always wants me to come do dungeons but 1)shes an ally and 2) i dont play wow any more

at least we can talk over battle net...

I had the same problem.

What I did was playing SC more efficiently. I would go on the computer and say, ok, ladder for 1 hour. Then stop. No more today. Eventually things got better but I didn't get much better at Starcraft.

The problem is the time spent on the computer, not on Starcraft. You should allow you some 4 or 5 daily hours of cpu MAX, through the whole day. 2 or 3 hours tops if it's after work or school.

The point of this is being efficient. No more useless hanging out on Facebook. No more hours-long lurking on TL. You want to ladder? You ladder and then leave.
This also makes you more competitive. Discipline is a good thing to have...
