I don't really play fighting games too much. I watch more than I play and I don't really feel a connection to them...

However, there is one game that just does it for me. It's like a match made in heaven. That game is Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. I play Ryu, Gouki, Hugo, Q and a little Dudley.

The purpose of this thread is two-fold:
1. I have one friend who plays with me on GGPO or Supercade (Trozz). If you play 3s, high skill or garbage, I would love to play with you. Please PM me anytime to play.
2. I want to introduce some people to this game.

Video 1 - Jiro (Purple Gouki) vs Pierre (Grey Urien)

Why is this dope?
Other than the dope Raging Demon to escape the unblockable Aegis Reflector setup at 00:35, the sickest part of this video is at 1:40. Raging Demon is a super that cannot connect if your opponent is in block stun (the short period after he blocks an attack) or hit stun (the short period after you hit them). This means Jiro started the overhead attack, saw it was getting parried, and then managed to press lp lp → hp lk before the attack finished.

Video 2 - Hayao (Blue Hugo) vs Umezono (Grey Chun Li)

Why is this dope?
01:30. In Street Fighter games, if you block a special attack, you take 'chip damage', which is one pixel of life lost. In Third Strike, if you move from a neutral position, towards the attack, you will 'parry' the attack, taking no damage and taking less time to recover from the attack (less block stun!). In order to parry Chun Li's super, Hugo needed to input ← o ← o ← o ← o ← o ← o ← o ← o nearly perfectly. Then, in the short pause between attacks, he did a 720 to counter with his own super.

Video 3 - Amir (White Ryu) vs Sextaro (White Makoto)

Why is this dope?
Because besides being a good match, this is the Denjin-Videos crew. I've watched their shit so much that I feel like I've been to Denjin Arcade and Family Fun. My opinion is that Seth Killian is the best video game commentator; however Rockefeller (this commentator) is my favourite commentator of all time to listen to.

Hope you learned to enjoy Third Strike! If you have any videos or experiences with Third Strike, please post them here, and again, I'd love to play any time

This looks like a ton of fun. Is it essentially like a tag team, somewhat different version of Street Fighter 3? I'm not well versed in Fighting Games but the vids are cool.

I only recently got into fighting games after my friend introduced me to street fighter a few weeks before AE release but i have found myself getting more and more involved in the genre generally checking out all the different fighting games but i haven't really seen much of this even though its a street fighter title. Watching the videos now always cool to see some sick executions when you realize they are extremely hard to pull off.

It's basically like Street Fighter 3: Legacy of the Void. Street Fighter 3 was broken, so they made Street Fighter 3: Second Impact which was less broken, and finally Street Fighter 3: Third Strike which is still broken but not too badly.

It's not a tag game, just 1v1. There are 19 characters and they each have 3 supers they can pick from.

I've played some Street Fighter 4 on my iPhone, played Tekken 2 and 3 as a kid. Would love to play more but I'm just so bad at fighting games... TT

Gouki is the Japanese name, Akuma is the western name. All of the videos in set 1 and 2 are Japanese. Japanese in fighting games = Koreans in Starcraft... basically the best of the best.

I bought AE last week. I never really got into fighting games until like 2 month ago, because I only really played with my brothers / friends, we were all mashers and apparently I was the better masher so they'd always rage when they lost.

I love it, bought MVC3 a month and a half ago because my friend is like "pick it up we can play it online", so I was like... Okay. I got raped, but I'm not a quitter and there happened to be a lot of tournaments being stream in preparation for EVO11, so I watched those, learned a bunch of stuff and got a lot better. I'm loving AE right now, though I suck (Big difference from MVC3...) Also bought a stick, getting used to it, but I think it's more enjoyable, kind of feels more "authentic". (My skill level did drop significantly, but I've been able to do some moves I wasn't able to do before, Fei Long's "chicken wing" as people call it is what used to give me trouble but I can do it pretty regularly now.)

My stick happens to be PC compatible so I downloaded GGPO (Kind of funny that I downloaded it and then checked TL and saw this thread) to play with my friend that got me into MVC3, going to play SF3S, I'd be glad to play with you later Chill if you want. ^^;

My GGPO is always ready to go anytime. I'm just playing the computer right now actually haha. PM me whenever or ping me on IRC.

And yes, I will be buying Online Edition immediately! Super excited!

Ahh, fighting games, my biggest passion before SC2 (weird, considering I was fairly unfamiliar with RTS before SC2, outside of playing AoE when i was like 6 >,<, I was instantly swallowed by SC2). I basically only have fighting games for my 'ol PS2 and my 360. I never played 3S though, which is a shame, it looks pretty damn good, and produced what has been called the greatest moment in all of eSports Daigo, such a baller man.

My brother's raiding in WoW, so I can reset my router yet to open the ports, otherwise I probably would play you now. Also need to figure out how the online works, but I'll probably have that sorted out by the time I can play online.

PS: Well... Apparently playing online is really easy..

Would be nice to get some TL tourneys going on online edition once it comes out

The 3rd Strike Online Edition exhibition tourney they did at EVO was pretty sweet and definitely made me decide to buy it once it comes out.

I cannot wait for a 3s Chill meme. It'll be a way to unite my SCII brethren with my fighting game brethren.

That is generally the case for street fighter games, although the skill gap is closing in light of daigo's recent losses in evo2k11. one from poongko in the top 8, and another from latif in the top 3. the korean player poongko is tearing shit up right now with seth in sf4AE.

Koreans are generally the best in the tekken games. knee (top bryan), nin (top steve), qudans (top devil jin) are known as the 3 tekken gods of korea

US players tend to dominate the MvC games for some reason. that shit is so crazy to watch lol.
