the Dagon Knight4002 Posts
Hi all,
I’m not sure if you guys know who I am, but I’m kind of hoping that within the next few months you’ll come to recognise my name and associate it with some really high quality posting. For now though, I really need your help TL, the big question is: How do I break it to my parents that I’m planning on becoming a proposter?
I’ve been spending a lot of time on TL, getting a feel for the way other people post and making a real effort to up my WPM (it’s not just spam either, I like to think I’ve been building my effective WPM rather than just sitting here typing away and deleting things without posting them). I think I’ve finally got it all figured out now. I’ve been laddering pretty hard, and I’m starting to see some results on the Blog Ladder.
I know what you’re going to say when you read this:
SirJolt, there’s a lot of good reasons you’re not a pro already; you haven’t put in the time. You just can’t match the output of other long-term posters. You’re a Bronze Poster at best.
You’ve got me dead to rights on all counts, but what you don’t understand is that I’m already theorycrafting at a high Masters level. The problem is that I keep getting undercut by all this Bronze-level cheesecraft (mostly sarcasm rushes and I sometimes don’t scout an early one-star rating). If it weren’t for the jerks in my Bronze-League cheesing me with accusations of plagiarism, allegations that I’m lying about my solid adjective micro, my intense preposition control and my totally sick syntax build-orders, I’d be Masters already.
I’ve uploaded a first person VOD/hype video of me playing on the Blog Ladder:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiycnioAFQk
I’m pretty sure I’ve got it all figured out now though; I’ve dropped out of college and quit my job so that I can finally dedicate all of my time to honing my skills. I feel like I’m on the verge of something huge, like I’m about to figure out a new way to write. We’re looking at a total upset here, a big shift in the metapost.
This is where I need your help though TL; my parents aren’t happy with the idea of my being a proposter. They’re convinced that I can’t make enough money off it to sustain myself. I tried to explain to them that I’d be streaming myself posting on TL for upwards of eight hours a day, and that I’d be able to get sponsorship or join a team fairly soon [seriously guys, if you’re looking to fill a spot on your team, just PM me], but they’re just so closed-minded about it all
So TL, this is your chance to make a difference in the life of one aspiring proposter: watch my stream*, PM me and add me to your buddies list. I’m always up for a bit of a 1v1 PM session to keep myself sharp for the ladder (big thanks to my man LemonWalrus for schooling me via PM when I needed the practice most). If anyone wants to see some shots of me in action, I’ve recorded a replay of me typing this blog as a .DOCX so you can see how my overall strategy works and maybe provide some feedback on my blog-order.
Thanks in advance,
SirJolt
*+ Show Spoiler +And if you really like it, buy me some things from my Amazon wishlist, if you can find it, teehee.

Watched the VOD you need to work on your macro. Only 1 in like 10, 000 people become professional posters. Do you think you have what it takes?
Good start quitting your job and dropping out of school. Put in the hours and anything is possible. Maybe you should go to Korea to learn how they train to post there. I believe in you SirJolt Ive enjoyed your posts so far.

My hero... good luck on your adventure.

You should consider looking into lessons from proffesional posters.

I think you need to get your head out of your ass and face facts. There have been people writing far longer than you. They have more experience, more speed and more dictionary knowledge. Unless you bust your ass practicing (sitting all day) you shall never even come close to the likes of Haji. Don't let this post get you down, you can still make it but it's a long shot. Just switch to the greeting card business, you'll still be writing and chasing your dreams on a smaller scale. Good luck!

Great blog. To show my appreciation I have given you one star to help you on your quest to save the princess.

This is an awesome post and debute in your proposters carreer. We can see a lot of your potential. But remember to constantly make "e"s and "a"s during the entire blog posting.

It took me far too long to actually read what you're saying while I scratched my head and thought, I didn't think SirJolt was in bronze league...?
Oh wait.. reading. Yes, one of my better traits after being awake 36 hours. Then it was hilarious

The video is great though.

I've just come to the realization that the majority of TL people hate me.
:/
For all of the callous I've built up against trolling and haters, I'm actually oddly hurt and depressed...

Even though you're focused entirely on working on your posting, you'll never get anywhere without the correct practice schedule. As soon as you can, try to get on a team, so you can practice in a focused environment with other proposters. Having a coach who can recognize small faults in your posting and who can give you information about your future opponents and matches is simply integral to your success. While you could go through their posts and replays on your own, having someone who can give you a general idea of their strategy is just a huge advantage that can't be overlooked.
Do you feel like you'll be ready to compete in time for MLP Anaheim?
|
As long as you keep posting straight up and keep learning from your mistakes you can do this, trolling might get you some easy fame, but once you get up there you'll hit a wall and it'll stop working altogether.
|
I've got one thing to say to you, SirJolt. 3-0.

I'm pretty sure Hot_Bid has talked about opening a proposter house, get in contact with him.
Also, I was extremely disappointed to see that you aren't streaming at the moment

Give it up bro. Even if you get to grandmaster the Koreans are still genetically better at posting. They'll just come over here and take all the readers.
This is why we need a North American-exclusive forum where Koreans AREN'T allowed. Obviously if someone like Select is here living in North America that's ok, but we can't have Koreans just post cross-server and steal all our hard-earned readers.

TL Blog Grandmaster here.

I just wish we had some good Post Casters, all the noobs right now are always mispronouncing big words, and not pausing in the right places for punctuation. Their voices all suck, and the analysis is terrible. The community will never get anywhere as long as the Post Casters are this terrible.
And the female posters shouldn't get their own leagues. They should have to compete with us, it's discrimination that the female posters can tell people they're female and get more views than males.
|
You have to realize there are a lot of people out there who want to became proposters, do you really think you have what it takes?
My advice is that you should enter some tourneys first and if you get some results, go talk to your parents.

You should make a blog about it.

I'm glad to see that people are still interested in joining the proposting scene. With the introduction of posting 2 sites like twitter, the foreign posting scene has slowly been dying. I'm glad to see that there is still new blood with the appreciation and determination to step in and fill in the gaps. BLOGGING4LIFE.

SirJolt is already climbing the ranks. You're like mid-masters rank right now, but I think Fuddx is sitting comfortably at the Rank 1 Grandmaster ProBlogger.
Your training is obviously going well, but you need to push yourself even harder. Maybe set up a prohouse and get some of the worlds top pros together and have 14 hour practice sessions. Only then will you break into Grandmasters.

Good luck SirJolt I believe in you! I watched you in the SC2 Assistant thread and beasting through the girl blogs and loved your variety of play. You can go far :D!

I actually heard a rumour from some Korean pro-bloggers on Twitter that Glider is opening up a completely new style this season.
They call it "sketchblogging" - essentially, he just freehand draws an image of your blog, but perfect in every possible way. It's a pencil sketch that shows off features other people might not have even noticed your blog even had. The only difference is that where it once said "SirJolt" it now says "Glider." I'm not sure how to even approach it yet.
+ Show Spoiler +I only really need to worry if other players emulate it. I wouldn't put it past FuDDx to make an entire blog out of balloons... What hope is there left for me then?

A few things:
a.) Your multitask is a little weak. I'd recommend opening several more browsers while working in Word - and if you can't juggle multiple documents simultaneously, you're not going to do very well in the face of early Flame War aggression. Most low Silver and Gold players like to come out the gate with quick flames and if you aren't able to have multiple responses developing at once you're going to get run over around the 2-page mark.
b.) It looks like you are trying to develop your own gameplan - you are very focused on shifting the metapost. The truth of the matter is that proposting is going on 12 years now and the meta has been largely developed; there are set openings with intricate grammar windows that you really need to learn first. From there it is more a function of refining the message and developing unique headers, instead of trying to build a post from scratch when the reality is you really can't compete with the established templates.
c.) You're spending a bit too much time on risky, one-dimensional all-in posts. You commit everything to the page in the opening post and if the other posters deflect or flame it, you're basically done. While you can rack up a lot of cred posting rapid-fire in short threads, you're also not going to learn a lot and when you find yourself in a 10 or 20-page postwar, you're going to be outclassed time and again.

You're using Cambria? If you ever plan on going pro you're gonna need to switch to a much more standard font. I would suggest Times New Roman or Calibri. If you really wanna change it up then a Comic Sans maybe once for a bo5 but Cambria is just a bad strat.
Also there were like 15 to 20 seconds at the end of your video of you doing nothing. 0 WPM. It's not over until you hit post my friend, and even though you think you may have it you gotta keep going til the very end.
I'm not gonna lie, with the fierce competition and the Koreans your chances are slim, but good luck to you nonetheless.

I'm brand new to the blogging ladder, and I'm wondering if I could get any advice for holding off one sentence run-on all-ins? I'm an art-blogger but have been thinking of switching to Starcraft since Webster refuses to nerf verbs and I just don't know what to do. I know you're supposed to wall-in with commas and semi-colons, but no matter what I try, they always manage to find a hole, and once they're in, it's just a matter of time before they follow up with expletives.
Am I doing something wrong or do I really just need to switch subjects?
|
good luck in your endeavours, but truth be told whats your plan on beating the boxer-flash-jaedong-bisu-iloove-MC-all in one personification that is know as the "Fuddx"

fucking retards in this blog, all of you. proposting doesn't exist because it isn't a sport, it's a hobby. the only way to even break even off of it is to go to korea and get on a real team.

Need more pictures. Pictures = 1000 words, so with that you can boost overall WPM and effective WPM together. What a noob mistake.

I am just in bronze and didn't watch the video but that is because blogs have been nerfed so bad I didn't need to see your flawed method. You are better off posting in general where more people see it and then having mods move it to blogs l8r after it already has exposure. SC2 General is so OP.

Sentence run-on all-ins are actually not that hard to hold with some good punctuation micro. The idea is to hold back the sentences with semicolons and commas while stalling until you have period tech out. Once you have period tech its easy to target-slice large clusters of words. The tricky part is holding out waiting for periods, you'll have to work hard on you comma-splitting micro. If one good run-on sentence splices a large group of commas its gg.
Just my two cents.

You can finally see that the Koreans are imbalanced; their language makes it easier for them to have such a high WPM average.
|
Don't quit school man. If you keep working hard at your posting, it will just all come along together. GM at life > GM at sc2 > GM at posting, don't forget.
If you do want to improve though, study pro's BOs and always look at your post, see what you could have done/worded better, edit the post to perfection, and do it constantly until you can perfectly refine your posts without submitting.
PS you need to study from this guy http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=136804 ...maybe one day you can have your own fanclub too!
|
You definiately need some pro post partners if you really want to increase you WPM and postmechanics. Also you can develop some really good OP and grammar builds together. This is what all the Koreans do and it's why their posts way outclass any foreign poster.
|

As someone who averages 5 stars per blog, but seldomly blogs, I can tell you that the only way you're gonna make it is if you move to New York and live close to TLHQ.
You simply can't make a living off of proposting outside of NY. I tried it once and nearly beat courage to get my proposter license, but I couldn't live like the other proposters in NY. You really have to be the kind of person that can spend up to 12 hours a day doing 1v1 PMs.
Best of luck to you, I hope you're up to the task.

It's not comparable! Things were different back in the day, you can't compare strategies from the old blogosphere to today. There have been so many patches that changed blogging since. Can you really compare the geocities and livejournal days to the TL of today? Plus, there are so many more foreigners going for it that the gap between the Koreans and the foreigners is much smaller now. I think SirJolt has a shot.

Either I'm having a huge deja vu or I've read this before. Anyways, don't even bother. Posters on PlayXP or fomos have long formed blogging houses training 10-12 hours/day. Think you can match that? You can't really be considered a pro imo if you don't hack it in BSL.

Great to see that someone aspires for the high leagues of posting. I used to want to do it myself but I've been reluctant after the patch. I feel that early caps, especially when paired with BM, are highly imbalanced at the moment. They void any build order variant in the argumentative post, the reflective post or just about any damn post.
Like in my last post matchup, I was advocating the ice fisher build. I had a post plan in which I wanted to start off with a quick exposition of some of the drawbacks of current "standard" Zerg build, move into the thesis statement game, trade pro/con-arguments while denying any rhetorics, and then finish off with refuting tech to take out my opponent's main counterargument by proving it irrelevant. But halfway through even the exposition, my opponent hard-countered me with caps.
Replay:
Me: "While the current meta-game favors the 14 pool 14 gas opening, a delayed gas could well serve the-" Opponent: "YEAH WELL YOU SUCK LOL" Me: "I don't thinks thats a valid point really eh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,," Opponent: "HAHAH OMG GG APOLOGIZE FOR DOING THAT POST"
As you can see my posting really fell apart after that. My contraction apostrophes slipped, my verb-person agreement micro was sub par... my post just got generally flawed. In desperation I tried mass commas but got crushed.
I seriously see no way to deal with caps early post. Any suggestions?
|
I'm a mediocre blogger, but I'm bm as fuck so I still get attention. Either way, nouns are fucking op and relying solely on superlatives is a useful skill toi have.
|
Theoretical Anaheim LR posting champ here. You're going about it all wrong. You don't become a proposter by posting. You should be watching streams of other posters, finding ways the current proposters are doing it wrong, and reading reddit/r/ESPORTS-POSTERS (I was the first person to comment about the guy that made that anagram.)
You're new to this, so I'll let it pass, but I didn't come up with the "Sheth you should have made Hydras" argument overnight.
|
How do you guys see the blog ladder? That's pretty hilarious rofl.
|
This blog is proposterous.
|
I think if we as a foreign community want to step up and compete with the Koreans in posting, we are going to have to start taking it seriously. No more whining about them taking our spotlights, we need to get it together. The better posters win.
Look at the posters who have gone to Korea and improved simply by being there. It's not a genetics thing, it's a work ethic thing.

TBH you should start out by streaming your post practice in your time off work, etc., and see where that goes. I've never seen you streaming so maybe if you built up a bit of an audience they would help you get a feel for whether you could really go pro?
If you commentated your TL posting it would help drum up a larger audience, btw.

Good luck to you sir! I'd compete but i have blog ladder anxiety =[
you should stream!!

DUDE, I feel you man, I've been dreaming to become pro and having the perfect topic ideas, so many in my head. I don't have the skills to go trough with it... My macro and micro is failing so hard. I have given up becoming a pro, it consumes time, planning the post, thinking about it all day, then finally spending hours on setup, what words to use, pictures, edits, photoshops etc etc. It's way to much work, and I figured I'd lend it over to younglings that have more drive and energy becoming the best. I've grown old and slow, and my micro has capped. My 70wpm is slow, and sometimes I peak at 90wpm, and then I'm so psyched. Then I watch people like you writing 100+wpm without typos, I give up, I will never reach that pro level you are going for. My generations time is over... SirJolt! As a forum veteran, slacker and idealist, GO FOR IT! YOU CAN DO IT! Finish the dream, so many of us low posting veterans have had. I will cheer for you. Foreigners Fighting ~~ SirJolt Fighting ~~

If you're really going to become a proposter, you have to move to Korea and become Korean. It's a cultural thing: Koreans always try to do their best and focus on their blogging, but I've seen so many foreigners who have such a sloppy style, using abbreviations like "idk" or "afaik" and so on and quite frankly, if you practice with those guys it's just going to drag you down. I mean, how can you get the most out of your practice if every other blog you post is responded with "in b4 joke about starcraft" or something like that. It will totally ruin your threadsense.
And sure, you may be thinking that there are lots of other opportunities to blog outside Korea, but don't kid yourself: Foreigners are shite, as simple as that. Whenever Koreans come blogging outside Korea, they totally own all the foreign bloggers. In fact, the only times a Korean blogger loses is if 1) he competes against another Korean blogger, or 2) some foreigner has a lucky joke or unexpected grammar that throws the Korean off. More often than not, however, the Korean will figure it out pretty quickly and own the foreigner with ease afterwards. Sure we have a couple of good foreign bloggers as well, but they simply grack under the pressure, leaving out parts of their posts because they expect that the Korean poster is posting perfectly and countering it, basically giving away the blog to the other guys. And besides, they've been to Korea for prolonged periods of time, so that's why they're so good.

WHAT?! This is like, for real stuff? There are professional posters?! This is crazy! I have never heard anything about this before. I don't ever plan on being anything of the sort, but goodness, I better look into it anyway so I actually know what's going on here.
I can't offer any advice than to just work hard for it and don't let people scare you away from what you love and want to do. Best of luck to ya!

You shouldn't aim to be a proposter on TL, PlayXP is where the real competition is at. They have proposting houses set up there and TL is behind and only going to get further behind. Also the PlayXP proposters are realising that they can come to TL and out post all the proposters here, as you can see by this post. You need to aim to go to PlayXP or in a few years you won't be able to compete with the proposters on PlayXP when the TL proposting scene dies out.
That said I'm interested in setting up a British and Irish proposting house. My parents have a house in Ireland we can use, and then we'll get maybe 7 or 8 guys, who seriously want to become proposters on PlayXP, and we'll practice posting for 12+ hours per day. Remember that posting on TL will only give you a certain amount of improvement, you need to practice with the PlayXPers or do some 1v1 PM practice with other people who want to become proposters. Jolt if you ever want to practice some 1v1 hit me up.
Finally a tip to the bronze-league posters who feel they're better than the other bronze league posters around them, and want to improve. A lot of bronze league posters make nonsensical posts that don't make sense. They will not pay attention to your post or try and counter it, instead they will just keep trying the same post strategy again and again, which may or may not be cheesy. Just remember that their posting mechanics aren't very good, so if you improve your mechanics enough and rely on them, they will not be able to beat you if you do. Staying away from topics such as religion and race is also a good idea.
|
Never give up, never give in, never surrender. I believe in your cause. You will succeed. Eventually... one day...
edit: holy shit i'm in masters!
|
Your WPM and writing mechanics are too low of a level but if you work hard at it, you can be a problogger.
|
I pray for your success... and that your lash scar heal from when your parents beat some sense into you ;_;
|
You should be able to do it if you post in the SC2 forum.
The skill ceiling there is so much lower... pretty much anyone can go pro.
|
|
Absolutely outrageous. This should never be allowed.
How dare he mock everything we hold so dearly?
|
I'd seriously recommend against taking a cheesy posting strat such as ad hominem attacks or similar quick burns. Likewise, you don't want to post image macros time after time - while it's important for a pro to mix in image macros and iceburns during a long thread series (in order to keep readers guessing from post to post and force them to scout your username instead of jumping to conclusions based on content) for a rookie it's much better to start out by quoting established posters who have shown solid replies over the years and work off that proven base.
By starting with an established, successful quotation, you're really just concerned with the mechanics of your language and line breaks - you've already got the content, as long as you don't fuck up the supporting message. You can even work in some cheeky play, like a G-Chizzle reference or a Grack joke, as long as it's backed by a proven big-name poster's prior work ironing out any kinks in the word order.
I'd recommend having one primary quotation prepared and practiced for each of the 3 major thread matchups: blog posts, live reports, and balance discussions. Knowing how to transition into the late thread is more a matter of practice and constant repetition than anything else - it's impossible to have a prepared quotation carry over into the later pages, but you can transition into a general post strategy. For example, in a balance thread you should be prepared to transition into late-thread options like QQ, Post VODs, or Quote Pros.
Start with the fundamentals and practice in single player - I recommend notepad or similar training programs. Good luck!

I think that you might need to adopt the Korean training method of becoming a proposter. I suggest going over to Korean forums to learn their ways, as well as adopting their language. Bring that back here and use them for your advantage.

As a former A- ranked philosoposter I suggest to you: work on your fundamentals. Effective WPM is something nice to look at, but it's not something you should be focusing on as a Bronze level poster. Rather, you should work on your understanding of the posts and of the metapost itself; I recommend to you to find some reposts of Arthur Schopenhauer and Leon Tolstoi--many of today's great posters studied their reposts carefully and spent long hours exercising their posting skills. Just take some time to look at: TheDeadHaji, Konadora (on hiatus), Saracen, and the up and coming Ilovekittens. I also suggest to you to get the Iphone app 'vocabology', as it's designed to increase your vocabulary and accelerate the process of becoming a proposter. I will be following your posts closely and hope to see you as the next great writer of a TL Final Edit.

Kind Sir,
I'm terribly sorry but I just cannot let this be. There are still quite a few absolutely key elements missing in becoming a pro-blogger, and there's just no way the TL community can help you unless we receive more information.
First of all, replays. Any request for progress must have an appropriate replay background. You've submitted one (!) replay. This means you can request help for one specific match-off, perhaps even only one specific build order. There is no way you can receive help to get up to the pro level if you only choose de perfect one very specific match-up.
Also I have no idea as to what race you post! As we all very well know, there are very different posting races with different mechanics and posting styles. Let me just name a few:
The e-peen poster Perhaps, and sadly so, one of the more famous posters we find here on TL. The e-peen profile is typically a multimillionnaire docter/lawyer/economist/progamer who's dating a supermodel, with 46-inch masculinity, the body of a professionnel boxer and the sense of logic of a chess grandmaster. This poster is always right, whatever he says, no contradiction is acceptable. Behind the scenes, these posters run the world in disguise. Did you know that Deezer is actually president of a small eastern European republic?
The weakness of these posters is what makes their strength, their ego. I'd suggest walling off with one rax of simply ignoring him and two depots of sarcasm. Humour and wit are quite imba against the e-peen, still hoping TL will nerf that to make the MU more interesting.
The troll A very solid aggressive race. The troll is the swarm of TL. They bombard with useless, sometimes witty, ofter times unpleasant posting. They live by trying to provoque you to leave your base and engage in the open, so that they can out-mass you. They have no typical profite, as they have no personnality. A troll feeds off of his opponent.
The easiest way to beat a troll is, as Day9 would say, to simply not engage. Play defensive, make him come to you. The troll will starve on ressources and his production capacity will ultimately go down for the win. The troll will then ragequit without a "gg" and move on to his next game.
The Holy Lord of Emo This is a very particular sort of very cheesy player. The emo will wait for you to attack, always, and then will try to counter with the splash damage of profound depression. He will kill your posts by repeated fungal growth of the uselessness of life and suicidal ideology. The typical emo is a teenager, pretty wealthy and privileged by global standards but who will make himself miserable, who goes up to girls saying "hey, wanna see me cut my veins?" and the writes songs about how he got turned down.
The best way to counter the splash damage of emo is by a good spread on your happiness. Make sure you don't cluster your joy. Emo usually have decent sacrasm detection, so I would suggest a quick sarcasm rush. If you can outmacro the Emo and overwhelm him with joy of leaving, the emo will leave the game "because anyway it's all pointless, nobody understands how everything is just misery".
The witty poster This is perhaps one of the more annoying races, because of their versatility. The witty poster can do many things. He can try to steal your resources by out-macroing you in your own base, he can go for a fast sarcasm rush, he can go for a straight-up deathpost push, etc. The profile of this poster is generally a student, rather geeky, pretty smart but has no friends to demonstrate just how witty he is to. So this person will compensate with excrutiatingly long games.
The way to deal with this race depends very much on your scouting information. If you see a big deathpost push, the easiest way is to not engage. Use the lack of mobility to harass. However a good witty poster will be able to counter with good army spread. It can then turn into a legitimate macrogame which requires a lot of multitasking. This race is pretty OP in my opinion, and usually gets top ladder seats.
Just your regular guy This is a tricky race to play against. Just your regular guy will use weapons other races don't have, such as flattery and gratitude for making the SC2 community better. Do not be duped! If you go for a smart deathball push, they'll splash you with "great write-up, want sum more!" and other such. This will neural parasite your main army, so you no longer have control over it. You then tend to overcompensate by macroing up another decently sized post, just to get NPd again. This person has no defined profile. It's just your regular guy.
It's hard to play out against this race. I would suggest just waiting for the Neural Parasite to end. It has a pretty short cooldown, but "just your regular guy" has complicated mechanics and few of them really micro to their greatest potential. I've seen countless players of this race just leave the game after the end of their Neural Parasite, and try it again against a different poster. Their macro is extremely pityful, so they only rely on this one deadly weapon to make you pretty much kill yourself with hours and hours of endless posting. "Just your regular guy" is perhaps the most malicious opponent, and yet the most common, of those you will face.
So what race do you play? Which matchups do you have trouble with? Basic build orders should vary quite a bit from one MU to the next. I personnaly only play custom games, so I'm not ranked. But I have excellent mechanics and theorycrafting if you never need it.
Best of luck in all your endeavours.

At the moment, I'm afraid that there are no teams. As such, I am playing Charles Xavier to TL and assembling my own team of highly trained probloggers. Once the team has been assembled, I'll make an announcement.

Can you keep up with the Romanian contingent? They are very famous as proposters.

Loved the post, especially the video. Pronoun micro rofl.

Did not read the op....Just got back bragging to Eve (sc2 female pro ya know) about how high I am in the bloggosphere here. When one of my practice partners (wont name this person though high GM blogger) told me about some noob trying to get to the top.
Ever here of Nextel vs Hovz? well just imagine me as a Hovz+ Idra that is all.
I really do not want to beat you in front of your mom but I will if this goes any further.....How can you blog with broken fingers sir???? How?
Good day

I've registered gosuposting.com. If you are interested in buying it from me, I require $1000 (USD) in advance to my paypal (gosuposting@gmail.com)--which you can buy from me too for another $500.
In all seriousness though, I think your effort is hurting ePosts.

... There's no way.
I spend countless hours on Blog Ladder, and I'm so far from GM. You're quite close to me, but I think you need a something special. Some call it Starred-sense.

you only have hope if you go to korea. the foreign posting scene is all shit talking and no game

You PPM is too low. Get out.

What you fail to understand is that pro posters didn't ONLY get that good through practice. In order to really post at the top level -- I mean the top level -- you have to be born with a certain amount of talent. You're either born with it or you're not.
And if you're not already pro, you don't have the blogging talent.
|
Did you consider switching police ? Yours is quite hard to master, and if you want to meet quick success, another one should be better. Don't forget to polish your timing and typing by massing custom documents. I can email you some High Master Posters account if you want.

I am generally good with posting but poll-cheese always defeats me

Read this while drunk and took it seriously.... Read it again while sober and got a good laugh awesome post

What? Posting full-time? That's proposterous.
Nah, but good luck to you

And can he make a living from posting? I don't think that this guy is serius? Is he gona be paid for posting? Come on, don't be too hard on him. A lot of people try and fail at this, but it's not like they can't just go back to college the next year. If he makes a name for himself, he can make enough from post coaching, streaming, and maybe a small sponsorship to at least pay the rent and travel to a couple of LAN posting competitions.
Even if he doesn't make it as a pro poster, he can always look back on the experience and say that he gave it his best shot.
|
I don't get this. Is it supposed to be some sort of comedy? Just write what you feel in proper English and I'd assume you would become a better 'poster'... not that there is any monthly pay or anything to it.
|
I believe in you. Don't listen to the doubters. You can do it.

Such blind optimism. Without the established Big Leagues (TM) such as those established in Korea, no proposter is ever going to be able to make enough money in prizes to live better than getting a typical 9 to 5. Anyone who thinks proposting can make its way to mainstream recognition and big TV deals is delusional.
I mean, how are you going to convince millions of rabid Nascar fans to even take a shot at watching a proposting tournament? And with the wildly unpredictable length of proposting matches, how can TV networks tailor traditional advertising models to suit? (Tailor & suit pun totally intended, though also totally not that funny).
Still, good luck in your endeavours, but I'll just be there to say "I told you so" when you win your $500 at Major League Posting which won't even cover your ticket from Ireland.
|
Just remember, for every successful pro poster who quit his job to try to make it, there are thousands that haven't. Now they're all stuck on reddit. If you can live with yourself if that happens, then best of luck to you.

It's not about the money man, it's about doing what you love if he can make enough money in the pro posting scene to make a living even if its not better then a "9 to 5" then good for him... SirJolt is one of the best up and comming posters and I see success in his future!!!

Well after watching your skills for 4min and 44sec all i can say is; maybe your dad was right?
Hehe jokes :p but seriously if you want to make it in the world it is all about "Big League" experience. Where are the paragraphs of intellectual thought and decision proving religion does not exist? Or the cunning explanation of why SC2 may just be almost but not quite close to but really near the awesomeness of BW?
I look forward to watching your improvement SirJolt :p

This works out great. I was just about to announce the first high-stakes live event for Proposters: The Global TeamLiquid.net Posters League (GTPL). The winner... well, the winner doesn't get any cash, nobody would actually sponsor this kind of thing... but the winner can get a hug from me!
... well you'd actually have to fly out to Columbus because I don't want to come find whoever wins this thing... also we couldn't find any money to afford any plane tickets, but the winner will receive the best virtual hug we can give!

for a moment there I thought we would have irelands first pro gamer...
haha

is this guy and everyone in this thread trollin?
|
I don't understand the use of sc2 analogy for proposting, like microing on documents? Masters league? Trolls and cheeses being a strategy to prevent your build?
|
Easily one of the best blogs ever posted ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Pro TL Posters Hwaiting!
|
I think your mid-post is your weakest point, i've observed a lot of your posts (as you were writing them. Don't look out your window) and your WPM (words per minute, for the newbies) usually falls at this point. You do a lot of good spamming early to get people interested and warm up, but you have to continue in the mid-post to make it continously interesting and attract long-time fans.
Sincerely, your stalker- Err, fan.

Proposters are those 1 in 100,000 who don't just post for fun or recreationally. They breath it, eat it, dream it, and most importantly, they live it. They take posting to a whole new level, a cut above everyone else, to entertain, prove to themselves, or just facilitate ePosting itself. I think as a proposter you don't just rehash the same old stuffs over and over and hope to make a name for yourself, you deliberately and diligently create new stuff, bring something amazing and unexpected, a wow factor some would say. And the rest is history.
