Thanks everyone for your support.
My dog died this morning. I think it was a seizure. I'm not sure of the specifics (my mom told me), but I don't even really want to find out why.
I found her on the floor after coming back from a 5 day vacation. She wasn't in her normal resting spot, but I thought she was just doing her usual silliness and just decided to rest in an awkward position. But she was breathing heavily. My pettings only made her more uncomfortable I think.
We took her to the vet, I thought she was getting better. That's what they said, her tempature was back to normal, and she was responding. I guess it wasn't enough. She's an old dog, we don't even know her age(got her when she was abandoned by another owner.) But she was the most beautiful dog in the world. I'm honestly not sure what I'll do without her.
My life has been defined by I guess two things, Elle and starcraft. I'd play a game of starcraft, then rest on the floor next to her for a while. I can't do that anymore. I'm honestly not sure even why I'm writing this. Pity? I don't know.
She let me pet her even when I knew she didn't want it. She let me sleep next to her, and even though she always got up shortly after, she was always there when I woke up. I've thought about this moment but I never thought it would be so soon. I never even got to say goodbye. So I guess this will have to do.
Goodbye Elle. While you may be gone from our world, I know somewhere your still there. I know you can't think up there, but I do know you have the most beautiful love in the world, and it will always stay with us. Even on this day the world lays beautiful outside. My tears will stop, but my memory of you will shine forever.

sorry man , my dogs are a huge part of my life and i cant even begin to imagine how much pain it would cause me to lose them

my pet died last year and i used to do the same things as you
time on the computer, then late ni the night when everyones asleep and quiet, pet her
i really feel where ur coming from and nothing you can do will help as much as time (at least for me)

I have a black cat, a lovely, cute, sexy and awesome black cat. I got him when he walked into my garden one day. We found the owner, but she said I could keep him. Every day I am grateful for finally having a pet, and a wonderful one. I am on a long trip, an I terribly miss him. This blog makes me dread the day when my cat, who is almost four years old, will die. I am sincerely and terribly sorry for you, as losing a pet in your shoes must be like losing a family member. I wish you the best of luck in your future with your loss.
Also, do you plan on getting another pet? I plan on getting a dog and a cat when my current cat dies.

Lost pets too. It's ridiculous how much one can love a pet, really... And how much they love you back.
At the very least you can be happy that she had the best life a dog could wish for, with a friend who was always there for her.

Some of my best friends have been dogs. The only way I've found to mitigate it is being happy in the knowledge that they're just built to last less time than us and, while that's a sad fact, it means that Elle was able to enjoy your company for pretty much her whole life.
I know it's small consolation to you, but it seems maybe fairer that she didn't have to outlive you. Humans, after all, are better at rationalising these things.
I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm happy you had her to begin with. Many dogs are not so fortunate; you gave her something special, and it was something that lasted the best part of her life. It's something sadly few people seem to understand.
Despite my deepest sympathy, I'm happy for you both.

One of the worst feelings in the world is having that come out of nowhere. The same thing happened with my dog. One day she was fine then literally the same time the next day she was laying on the operating table getting ready to be put to sleep because there was a tumor the size of a cantaloupe in her abdomen. No warning whatsoever.
It's not easy losing a pet like that but like SirJolt said, you have to remember that Elle wasn't designed to live even 20 years. What you also need to remember though is that throughout her entire life she was fortunate enough to have you there to love her. What more could a dog want?

damn....I couldn't imagine being that intimate with a dog. My dad told me when he was in China, he had a dog as a kid and the neighbors ate it so we didn't grow up with pets. But I feel for ya dawg.
