Ah i guess I didn't clarify, probably since I was pretty tired at the time, but the problem is not waking up during sleep while still atonic, but going into paralysis from an awakened state i.e. lying down in bed, and then being unable to move, control breathing, etc. while still being conscious.

Somewhat unsettling.

You guys are lucky. Whenever I get sleep paralysis, a little girl comes into my room and asks me why I'm here, FUCK.

Sounds different from my experience. Though mine happened in the middle of the night while I was sleeping.

I once had sleep paralysis and it was the most fucked up experience I ever had. I woke up to this incredibly loud buzzing sound only to find out that I couldn't move my body. It actually felt like my body was being pressed down from all angles. Then I saw silhouettes of giant bees flying around the room, which is when I decided to get the fuck out of the room asap. I tried to move my arm as much as I could and eventually it budged a little bit and at that moment everything stopped.

I think I had a few episodes of this during the last few weeks of my last semester when I was really low on sleep. But when my mind would wake up I just knew that it wasn't time to wake up yet so my mind would sort of wander around. I didn't really pay any attention to it but now after reading about SP I realized that's what I was experiencing because I had absolutely no control over my body except for the fact that my mind was awake. So when I wanted to roll over or stretch a bit I couldn't, but as my usual routine went I just thought "fuck it" and lay there until my mind doze off again lol.

I'm pretty sure if I had seriously attempted to wake up I'd be frightened. I still remember this one time when I was a little kid when I "woke up" supposedly and everything in my room was lit up with a blue light as if a UFO had just dropped me off from an abduction. I tried to get up from bed to see what was going on but I couldn't move. It was scary as hell, and I woke up in the morning thinking "wtf wtf wtf".
