THIS DOESNT WORK it just attracts more squirrels and they will give birth faster and in larger quantities and take up residence nearby and they will eat, forever and ever

Is this legal?

I don't think so... Why not invite a few cars over? They always seem to take care of squirrels, at least the ones around here.

by "cars", I take it you meant "cats"

No, he means cars, running over squirrels, a few tons of metal running into something is probably get rid of it.

Killing squirrels. American style.

We Aussies prefer to use our cars to ram kangaroos.

Where I live there are wild squirrels and turkeys galore (well, a flock of like 8 turkeys that live in the trees), nobody here kills them because they are eating our flower beds. We accept that we live in an environment that is home to them, and allow them to live here. There are feeders all over and coincidentally not once have any of the gardens on my street been destroyed by squirrels.

Why would you admit to this? This is terrible and you shouldn't be proud. A squirrel is still a living breathing creature and doesn't know any better to go into your flowers.
Pathetic.

These squirrels are more than a nuisance, they are a swarm of rodents that destroy entire crops. They are miniature terrorists seeking nothing but death and destruction.

These vicious beasts have undone countless hours of labor and care, all for a brief moment of lulz and gluttonous devouring of my babies.

Whether you're being sarcastic or not, I think you've been spending too much time playing video games and on the internet if this is how you think of it.

It's actually better than the alternative where he lets it starve to death from the original wound.

Why does he have to shoot them?

Well, it's legal, they are considered pest animals in many locations, and it's eating his food items/possessions. Unless he claims to be vegan this is perfectly within his moral grounds to do. I wouldn't personally want to kill squirrels, but it's not much different than spraying pesticide on the fruits you buy from the grocery store.

Do you ONLY eat organic food? If not, you're killing living, breathing things to have more convenient meals. Even then, you're eating the food they could eat to live; you are killing things by eating.

Your argument is so illogical, he's not killing these squirrels to eat them, he's killing them because they're eating his flowers. They're eating his flowers because the flowers are in their habitat and are an available food source.

As well as, he's not growing the sunflowers because he's dependent on them for food, he's either growing them to snack on the seeds or for the visual appeal. Now, if you're trying to imply it's right to kill the squirrels because they eat his flowers, would you kill your neighbor's dog if it trampled your flowers?

I WAS growing the sunflowers for food. As a side benefit they were also beautiful.
I wouldn't shoot a neighbor's dog because it is a pet. The squirrels have no owner and harbor intense hatred for anything that isn't a squirrel.

Grats on the BB gun shot to the squirrel, did you miss the first time? How hard was it to aim at that tiny little monster?

Regardless, squirrels are heartless monsters bent on various types of destruction. It is no different than killing an insect. A large insect determined to destroy your stuff.
There is but one truth.

I can't believe there are so many people here defending those fucking tree rats. I wonder if people would get mad if you talked about killing rats with a rat-trap? Squirrels exist to screw with people in the South. Anyone who says they don't have squirrel problems and live in an area infested with the vermin are either fooling themselves, or ignorant. From messing with your trees, to ruining your flower gardens, to turning your bird feeder into a squirrel feeder, they mess with stuff. My parents used to trap them, and then drive them to a park to get rid of them. Except they didn't take them far enough away, and they just came back. Should have killed the little bastards.

But actually, squirrels are just rats with bushy tails...would you say the same if it were the life of a rat?

2 things to point out, OP is well withing his right to do so on his private property, (if the squirrel was the neighbor's pet, he wouldnt be)

The most common indicator of potential serial killers is violence to small fur bearing animals in youth...think about it.

Yeah, I would actually. I think it's stupid that things like rats and things have to be killed to be removed of.

Seriously, everyone defending the squirrels is probably just doing so because they are somewhat cute. The same people probably get home from work and eat a nice juicy hamburger, and if they have rat traps they check 'em hoping they killed some of the fuckers. Animal life really is not sacred (NOTE: I am not saying that animals are worthless, I love animals. I've volunteered at animal shelters. I have two dogs both adopted from animal shelters who otherwise would have been killed. It's just that a human life is sacred, while animal life is not). And no, I wouldn't shoot a dog who messed up my flowers because there is a 99.99999% chance that the dog belongs to someone who would not be happy if I killed their dog. Also squirrels are pests.
Imagine if i had a REAL weapon

You (and half the other posters in here) are completely ignorant of the economic damage that these vermin cause. Not only that, they carry many parasites and diseases. Perhaps before you accuse someone of spending too much time on the internet, you should get out and learn a little more about the world you are commenting on.

There are entire industries devoted to the eradication of ground squirrels for farmers, hell I know USDA employees that go out of their way to run them over when they're spotted in the street. Though, you may not mind the price of crops (eg corn, wheat, alfalfa) skyrocketing (and then increasing the cost of meat as well) because people decided you shouldn't exterminate harmful vermin if they happen to be cute. Man if mosquito and fleas were cute we'd be fucked.

Nasty vicious squirrels ravaged my sunflowers.

They climbed up, piercing the stems with their sharp claws and infecting the plants with all manner of parasites and recklessly breaking off leaves.

Then they gnawed the flower heads a bit before decapitating the plants in a flurry of bites fueled by hateful rage.

The squirrels ate every seed and mortally wounded all of my beautiful sunflower plants. I had to pull them out.

WAR

My dog killed two of them by biting and shaking them. I shot one with a BB gun, which incapacitated it, then followed it up with an axe to the neck. One of the eyes popped out. But ultimately it's like 2 marines versus 10000 zerglings. There's just too many squirrels.

I hope you get killed very soon...
