So I've been in gold league A while as I die a lot to 1 base play (most people one base for a long time in low leagues), and just couldn't win in ZvP if he didn't 4 gate. I felt I had a lot better mechanics than almost everyone I was playing, but just would lose a lot of game to one base play before my mechanics could come into play.

As a result, I was reworking my ZvP, and I kind of just stumbled upon being OK with early aggression. I don't know what it was, but something just clicked in my head. I started winning a TON of ZvT and ZvZ, and upon further work I was winning a lot of the time in ZvP as well. I was moving up in MMR and was constantly faced against platinum players and winning most of the games and even some diamond players for a few days. Then I got matched against some masters league smurf who just did a brutal 6 gate on me, and I just BARELY lost.

Something after that game just clicked, and I started losing almost every game. I think out of my last two days playing since that game I've went from winning the majority of my games versus platinum/diamond league players to losing about half my games versus silver players (something like 10-50 in the last couple days)

I have no idea what to do. I have tried taking a shower, doing other stuff, etc, but whenever I come back, I'm just not able to make good decisions in game or execute anywhere NEAR the level I have been showing before this losing streak.

I is a sad panda, if I get demoted after being essentially a game or two from being promoted I think I'll be so on tilt it will be unreal.

Any advice TL?

I think you should probably take a few days off, re-evaluate your game, and take your ranking less seriously.

I would take a few days off. I was just on tilt for a few days then I decided to just 2v2 with some friends. Just do something where you won't try hard. 2v2 is good IMO cause you can still use SOME mechanics like hotkeying army control and whatnot so you wont lose anything as if you totally took some time out but you don't need to worry about your rating
If you think its underpowered then you're doing it wrong

That's a good sign. What's happening is as follows (IMO and my experience):

1. You gain an understanding in the game. You are so focused on it that your games have a theme (in your case, aggression).

2. Now that you completely understand your new finding, you incorporate it in your original play. Overall you got better, however your play loses the theme. You have become half aggressive than fully aggressive.

This happens even if you are the best player in the world. The difference is whether you get discouraged by it or understand that you are WAY better than you used to be.

In conclusion: you are on the right track. It is way better than being consistent (if you are looking to get better).

Taking a break for a few days can really work wonders. I've been playing like shit a week or so ago. Didn't play at all for 2 days, then on my return I somehow got a million times better and jumped in rating a lot (up to 1500 masters). Right now I start playing like crap again, but I can't play the next two days anyways, and I'm looking forward to my return home!

It's really weird and hard to explain. It's as if once you start getting on a downswing due to unlucky losses, your judgement will be clouded and you can't win games anymore no matter what you do. The few days break give you clarity - literally. You will feel a difference when playing. It's like your mind is more "open".

Essentially, you are afraid of losing. Play a lot of Custom games. You will probably run into higher level players and lose a lot. If not, you will run into lower level players who one-base all-in you and win. Do ridiculous all-ins/cheese like proxy Hatcheries. After a few days, you will be 'hardened' from your losses and will take losing less seriously.

If you play more than 1 base play every game, and your opponents 1 base play almost every game, find out how to hold it off (take into account the the average time you lose), even it means cutting some things. Don't make big changes, just little changes that you can fit into your build to make you a little safer. Once you hold off their big push, you win (even if you completely trade armies, you come out ahead because you will likely have 2 Mains and more workers).
