As for good places to eat, i am somewhat at a loss, because i was mostly eating on a student's budget, but i did enjoy going to Centimeter every so often. It is a restaurant chain in Vienna with 7 or so different locations, and it features a selection of good Austrian food. You should be able to find it on google maps, i'd think.
The Centimeter has 5 frachises in Vienna but rumor have it, that they are considered sloppy with the hygene. Depending on how much you want to spend per evening/person, here are some of my recommendations:
-)
Artner auf der WiednVERY fine food with eastern Austrian focus. Good wines too.
Expect to pay 25-50€ per person and evening
-)
Stiegl AmbulanzServing what most view as traditional Austrian food. Stiegl is a famous local beer from Salzburg.
Expect to pay 10-20€ per person and evening
-)
Oriku Running SushiGood place to go for non-standard running sushi. Nothing special, but interesting food.
Expect to pay 10-20€ per person and evening
-)
Donauturm RestaurantStandard fancy food. Located on a rotating platform overlooking almost all of vienna.
Expect to pay 20-40€ per person and evening (elevator is an extra 2€ fee per person iirc)
-)
Zum Martin SeppFancy traditional farmers food. Very good wine selection.
Expect to pay 20-40€ per person and evening
-)
Strandcafe an der alten DonauGrilled food. No special wine. GREAT view at dusk. Sun sets in the uni city from there which makes for awesome vistas.
Expect to pay 10-20€ per person and evening
If you can tell me your budget or interests, i maybe can try to come up with more recommendations.

As for things to visit:
-)
DonauturmTypical look-out tower. Elevator is a 2€ fee iirc. See Donauturm Restaurant
-)
SchönbrunnResidence of the monarchs of the Habsburg dynasty. Go through the back to enter the Gardens. Also houses the first European zoo to breed panda bears. The 2nd little panda should be around 1 year in the summer. Admission to the zoo is ~12€.
-) Stroll through the 1st district. Visit the
Stephansdoom, go through the
Graben and the
Kärntner Straße to do some fancy shopping. Don't forget the
Hofburg and the nearby
Burggarten-) Sit down in a cafe. Vienna is/was famous for it's cafe-house culture. I would recommend cafes in the vicinity of the
university for the most effect.
-) The
Museumsquartier has both restaurants and a outdoor chillout area where you can do your own picknick right in the middle of the city. They frequently have events there.
-) If you wanna see events, the
Rathausplatz has one virtually every evening. Outdoor cinema, outdoor orchestra, outdoor ice skating, sport events and markets. It truly represents Viennese spirit.
-) If you enjoy parks,
der Parter is ideal. It has meadows to play ball on, as well as forest like sections. Stays cool when the city heats up in the summer.
-) You can go for a swim in the Donau itself either from anywhere of the
Donauinsels north-east shore. It's a semi-closed section of the river that doesn't have much current, so you can actually swim across. See
New Danube for more details.
-) If you want to get good ice, definitly check out
Tichy. They actually have a patent on their
Eismarillenknödel (ice apricot dumplings ... don't worry, it's just the name and the looks)
Like the others, i can provide more things if i know your preferences.

Things to consider:
USE THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATIONYou can buy a monday-monday all inclusive ticket for 14€ per person. This includes all form of publicpublic transportation in Vienna, be it busses, the tram, s-trains or the u-bahn.
If you have to use a taxi, they are reasonably priced as long as you stay within city limits.
