Driving or doing other risky activities when you're under the influence of the video game
I often think I'm driving an SCV while I'm actually driving my car after laddering, does that count?

Feeling that you have to visit Teamliquid regularly — this can be daily or even several times a day
Failing in your attempts to stop visiting Teamliquid
Making certain that you maintain a constant presence on Teamliquid
Spending time on Teamliquid even though you can't possibly afford to
Doing things to access Teamliquid that you normally wouldn't do, such as stealing a friend's computer to access it at their place.
Feeling that you need Teamliquid to deal with your problems (Sketchy, i would define my problems as not being able to access TL, so yes)
Driving or doing other risky activities when you're under the influence of the video game (N/A)
Focusing more and more time and energy on Accessing and mindlessly browsing TL
Well, I fit all the relevant criteria for sure. At 131 page visits a day for the last 160something days according to my computers web browser, I should probably see someone about my problem.

The only games I ever felt was addicting was WoW when I played that a lot a couple of years back, and BW.
SC2 never got me addicted, I get tired of it after only a few 100 games... -.-
I do feel I'm addicted to the internet tho lol

I feel like I am addicted to SC2, Counter Strike, and TL.

According to this I'm addicted to the internet. Can't say I'm disturbed by this at all, as not having internet is a terrible, terrible thing.

Doesn't the Western World have an Internet addiction in general?

I think your mom is confusing addiction with "this is how I choose to spend my time". However, many gamers tend to put so much time into gaming they let real life opportunities pass them by, but that's just making poor decisions, not necessarily addiction.

I think MMOs are full of addicts, as well as people who play any kind of game purely to "rank up". Their enjoyment comes from the in game rewards and not the actual playing of the game itself.
I have felt like I was addicted when I used to play Dofus, and now I'm like a reformed junkie in that I can't stand to play anything if I'm not enjoying the actual game playing. This is why I hate MMOs now.
I have a theory that people produce positive feedback hormones when they are engaged in social activity, and that games (even single player ones) cause these hormones to be produced. You can definately become addicted to hormones that your own body produces, and this is how people become addicted to an activity (like people who get addicted to endorphines produced through exercise).
I really think this is a big and serious issue, because I think games which provide you with some kind of in game reward for killing 100,000 of the same monster, or collecting 99999999999 gold, are some kind of evil.

I get the same thing
Addiction =/= nothing else to do on a rainy day and too shat out of my mind to study.

WINNER.
It's pretty obvious who is "addicted" and who's just making poor decisions as you get older.
I would say that I wasn't addicted to gaming, not to the point where I couldn't be without it, but I would just blow off EVERYTHING to play whatever...as I got older I do this a LOT less - I can get up and leave mid-game and not bug me if I'm doing something with friends, if I need to make dinner, and so on.
It's not like I stopped playing or "broke" my addiction, I never was addicted in the first place - I was just a stupid teenager haha.
