*** UPDATE *** I'm sure many TL.netters have the burning desire to know what happened with all of this. I didn't utilize any strange peacock costumes or give her any unusual gifts. But I was persistent and acted not a total fool.
In any case currently we've gone out a couple times and things seem to look pretty good. Maybe next blog will be about my happy marriage (kidding, a little).
So I suppose the advice in all girl threads should really be "be yourself and try to talk and if you fail that's it," but luckily like I said in the op I'm hot and intelligent (and interesting) so I had somewhat reasonable hopes (she's pretty great so it was worth making a blog and stressing over, even if only to organize my thoughts).
So I want to have sex with and or marry my teacher. It's the end of the quarter so soon she won't be my teacher anymore.
I skipped class for the first half of the quarter and then came every day and talked to her in her office after class all the time (mostly about the subject, but I tried to make it personal). So hopefully she thinks I'm an ambitious and intelligent student who just happens to be a little too cool for school.
But anyway, besides some email correspondence and intense intellectual discussions, I don't really have much of a foot in the door. I'm working on an essay for a scholarship competition in her subject and fortunately that's an excuse to talk to her after the quarter.
She's into birds and has a parrot. I have a complex offensive prepared that obviously I need to keep utterly transparent but I think slyly giving her a gift as I hand in the final with a shit-eating grin might at least make it clear (though it's already quite obvious) that I'm into her so she can contemplate the decision when I inevitably ask her to meet me at some hoity toity coffee shop so I can discuss the essay and the finer aspects of her life as a graduate student and the struggles she has faced because she is deeply interesting and it might have some bearing on my own future.
I'm pretty hot and articulate so I'm not worried about the actual interaction, I'll do what I can and what happens happens.
But regarding the gift to slyly give her, what could be something that could be conveniently carried to class (perhaps wrapped), handed off in a subtle and composed fashion, would be endearing, funny, perhaps slightly raunchy if I am feeling bold but in no way gauche, could be delivered by Tuesday night or bought locally (I live in Columbus OH), and is preferably not more than $100, and obviously expensive would some desperate.
Personally, I am an economics major, I like electronic music and am in the genesis of my production of electronic dance music and the DJing thereof. Obviously I like StarCraft but she doesn't know that and it may not be to her benefit.
I'm 23 and she's 28 if it matters. Her subject is anthropology. I hope she doesn't read TL.net. Or I hope she does if she's already into me and is looking for an excuse to attack.

ONLY peacock feathers
edit: And I demand pics of this. Should be hilarious

That's actually not that bad. The peacock feathers might do the trick because we talked about peacocks and sexual selection earlier in the year.

Think you've met my brother.
Anyways why don't you just ask her out without these weird gifts? I'm sorta confused about this complex plan and why this is better.
I'm not asking her out with weird gifts. I just want to do it because I think it would be cute. I'll ask her out after the fact, probably after grades are posted. I am somewhat conscious of academic etiquette.
On June 06 2011 11:30 FlopTurnReaver wrote: You said you were good looking, Shouldn't that do the trick?
That does some of the trick. There are lots of attractive guys though and she's attractive so I'm sure she has had suitors in the past. Perhaps her work is all consuming but when I arrive all mighty and congenial perhaps I shall persuade her the married life is very livable between to academics. Might as well do anything I can.

This wouldn't be so bad if I made a complex and well colored origami parrot right in front of her in a reasonable amount of time, proving I had mastered the material well enough to leave enough time for complex origami. I bet it takes a while to learn though. I'll look into it.
I wish I traveled the world killing birds because while showering I thought lots of bird skulls mounted from all around with notes explaining the species and the characteristics of the skulls would be cool.
Being an anthropologist, that might interest her because she researches human and ape bodies and knows a lot of things about skulls and anatomy. Unfortunately, I have not been travelling the world killing birds.

I can't really see you not getting her. Also you should definitly suggest marriage right away.
You jest but I can guarantee she'd think that's cool with proper packaging and delivery. It's not feasible though so I am not worried about it.
I pretty much never fail but was interested if anyone had any neat ideas. My personality, intelligence, and athletic build will do the trick but she deserves to be wooed sweetly, in either comical or romantic ways.
Are you a carbon sample? Cause I want to date you.
BAM
I dunno, that's all I got. I don't know many good Anthropologist-related pick up lines. I'm one of those guys that can pull off cheesy pick up lines (by some grace of god) so I have a lot of em stored up.

Oh man, this would be great if you actually went with this one. At first I like XD when I saw Dalgno's response, but then I saw yours and was like O.O. Definitely update us if you carry out this method and let us know if it worked or not.
This last thing I have to say is purely my opinion that should be taken with a lump of salt given my lack of experience etc.... If you really are good looking and she already likes you I am betting on this working, but if nothing else it will give you both a good laugh.
I like the origami crane idea. She likes birds. Cranes are birds. I make them all the time and they look impressive! Plus you can write on it, things like your phone number and "I'd like to get to know you better"....whatever your heart desires.
Either way it all boils down to how she feels about it. Some teachers would never fraternize with students, some are banned from it, and others are just flirty by nature. Regardless, there's a good chance you could have misread everything and get shut down entirely. You mentioned she's a grad student, and as a grad student myself things like dates don't come around as often as they used to. There wouldn't seem to be much harm in trying something since it may work, so stay safe and have fun!
To me, it appears you behave like an idiot xD Just ask her and don't plan like the biggest conspiracy on earth to try and trick her into dating you? i mean sure that can be fun to do, but i guess it would be better to save this for some later point. Just be straight in the beginning, and get out the "good stuff" once you can be somewhat sure that it's worth it. Sounds more sane to me. But idk, never tried any of this.

Everyone is misunderstanding. This is somewhat facetious, but if I actually do anything it SHOULD be funny.
Anyway anthropology and evolutionary psychology would tell us we're SUPPOSED to try to trick women into dating us. We've evolved for millions of years with that goal in mind. Maybe not trick, but at least convince that we are extremely worthy.
BUT ... I do work hard for girls anyway when I like one, but I don't do it in a creepy visible way. I just like to have my shit together.

That's actually really sweet if I could pull it off, or something related. Once on a test there was some description of a fossil and the question was "how do you date it?" And I wrote "start with coffee LOL!" in the margin.

Well I don't think I've misinterpreted anything because I don't think she craves my johnson or anything like that. Just that she's been friendly and is a bangin hawty so it would be preposterous not to try my luck. The "dates don't come around as often as they used to" might help.
I'm not a wanker or anything so I at least think she'd be nice about any denial (especially since I'll still be working with her a few times when class is over). I don't think fraternizing is banned at my school, once I'm no longer in her class.
The number on the crane idea is a little bold at this point I think. Yeah she'll go for it if she thinks I'm worthy or whatever but I don't want too seem super douchey and eager. A distinct possibility, and the easiest solution. I think perhaps personalizing the message on the crane would be clutch. Or some other paper bird.

Ah she is physical like me. Damn is she one of Larsen's students and doing her research in Poland? Physical Anthros are more scientifically oriented usually. If she is a bone person like me maybe you could give her a cast of a skull or fossil heh. Bone clones were selling some casts at decent rates at the physical meetings this year.
Edit: if she is one of the ones doing polish research (from all the stuff at the AAPA meetings from OSU on polish material seems like there are a lot) then maybe something relating to that like a polish dictionary or something lol.

And yes Biological = Physical are the same thing.
She seems to like bones (innuendo LOLOLOL). And yes I believe you are correct on the research activities. Let's not get too personal though...

Yeah... if she's an anthropologist just bone her and be done with it. =) Just wait until your out of her class, then ask her out. If the present you give is something she can remember you by, then you should do OK even if some time has passed.

And now you've ruined the great advice since 9/10 girl bloggers have confidence issues. Still, it's nice to hear things worked out!

Haha. Okay here is the REAL secret. Everyone has SOME confidence issue with SOMETHING, so you're not behind the game if that's your problem. So really, solving confidence issues isn't about thinking you're really awesome, it's about realizing you're as awesome as everyone else and swallowing your fear.
Girls can't tell the difference between real confidence and fake confidence, and if you have to fake it a little that's better than being profoundly arrogant. Better?

Sure is! Though, personally I'm a fan of the "just shut up and do it" method, but we all have our own ways of building ourselves up!
Hey man cool turnout to the story, at first I thought you were talking about high school and I was pretty appalled since it's 100% gonna result in her firing and an investigation but my fears were assuaged when you said it was college. All fair game best of luck mate.
