First off: pretty lights to make people want to read further.
So here's the deal:
I have just sorted through and reorganized my whole music folder, and at the moment it's size is currently residing at a comfortable 140,194,156,504 bytes, or 130 gigabytes. Even though I could go for a 50 day straight music listening marathon, I don't think the music folder is going to stay at 130 gigs forever; 5 years ago it was only 30 gigs.
I use an iPod classic, which has a storage capacity of 160 GB (Technically 148), so while do I have a bit of growing room, I do not think it will be enough forever. 18 GB is clearly enough to last for a while, so my problem is not too urgent, but it is something I will have to take into consideration.
They also seem to have a built in self destruct sequence after several years as well. I am on my second iPod as my first withered up and gave me a big red X on the screen whenever I turned it on, and nothing I could do would fix it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Because most people have the attention span of a goldfish: more colo(u)rs!
Now, if you look at Apple's website or have an affiliation with learning facts about random pieces of electronic equipment you will know (for a fact) that a 160 GB iPod Classic is by far their most sizable model. The next thing in line is a (overpricedpieceofshit) 400 dollar 64 GB iPod touch.
Now, if you pay attention even in the slightest to Apple's general marketing schemes, you will know (for a fact) that they will most definitely not release anything with more memory than 160 GB for, by my reckoning, roughly 1 eternity. Don't believe me? Well first off, you are silly, and secondly, the 160 GB iPod Classic was released in 2007. Since most people are more interested firstly in being able to dirty their electronics' screens with grubby, Cheeto stained fingers, and secondly, if the first option is not possible, having an MP3 player smaller than the tip of their fingers so that they wouldn't be able to use the touch screen in the first place, my reckoning is that we will have holodecks before we have Apple making an MP3 player with a memory space of more than 160 GB.
Captain Picard thinks so, too.
Of course, since the evil, capitalistic dogs that they are, Apple, have essentially what is a complete monopoly over the market, my 5 minute google search (Note: Google is also technically evil and monopolistic, but to a much lesser degree for my own arbitrary reasons), the short answer is:
No.
That is why I am making this blog. I want to know if a single one of you of the thousand naturally aligned tech-geeks on Teenliquid know of even a single alternative to Apple. I only have 3 necessities: 1) It fits into my pocket, 2) It's storage space is 200 GB+, 3) It plays the musics. I wouldn't be surprised if there is literally nothing else, but it is worth a shot.
