Current Version MAP BIG (a lot bigger) !!!!!!
First I drew continents and mountains and colored the sea
Then I started coloring a bit, and thinking some migration paths (they didnt end up being worth anything)
More coloring
Starting to put some names and as inspiration came to me
One day it kicked in hard!
I decided to make some alterations, replaced those north western islands of the main land and put the archipelago north instead of south
More island changes this time in the south, colored the north of the south pole and the other continents, also added an island to the west.
Current version full sized http://img4.uploadhouse.com/fileuploads/10751/107511749ec54af14c7f47283efe8ce1294d1a34.jpg

T.T
Better than I can do with pencil/crayons. FML. Good work.

Wowww. This is awesome. And even though it's paint, it's so fun to look at! I love seeking out little areas and details, like the tiny island in the water of the larger landmass. It's so cute

Thanks, the great thing about pcs is, you can afford infinite mistakes, as long as you never give up
I actually spent more than 20 hours on this project, and id say 25% of it, was me pressing ctrl+z the other 25% was me double clicking my mouse by mistake and unmaking some really long delineation or something lol
good fun tho, end result looks good

Thanks! so do I hehe
The map is not over but its mostly details left, personally I fell like theres space for some more inslands in this internal sea.
A thing to think, this sea unlike the mediterranean cuts the continent vertically, therefore theres a huge varion in climate traveling from one end to another, what could that imply to primitive civilizations ?
Also, the world has 2 moons, so the tide is bound to be a bit more unstable.
|
Wow this is crazy. What is your inspiration for things like this? It seems so detailed and thought out, is there like a backstory you had in mind?
|
Looks sort of like the Warcraft and the Game of Thrones universes!
|
The backstory of the universe is here http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=70111
In this specific world a single Eldren (a cosmic entity) that is sort of a rogue in relation to his friends had has harbored the side project of a world with many homo-sentient species, where he plans to try some experiments.
He has brought dragons he managed to sneak in when Atlantis fell
He has humans that evolved in other planets, alien mammals, reptiles, and the like.
Many alien creatures combined in a world, sometimes he will mannufacture some really high quality metal and meteorically throw it in the world for fun.
His main objective is see things playing themselves out, he likes war and conflict, moments of truth per se, and he will push things in directions if he things a "moment of truth" will happen.
Theres psionic power, that comes from hereditarity, and flows from inside out.
And The Rogue Eldren likes to enhance some animals with these techniques creating your rare giant lion and etc..
And theres the flux, where you tap into the energy and information matrix of the universe and try to imprint your desires making some spell like effects.
In the link I posted theres a ton of cool stuff, just as a fun read, its worth it, its not my universe, its Johhny1A.2 but im creating a whole new world in his universe (I talk to him) with this low technology medium psi/flux concept, for a more medieval world but with realistic magic

Interesting. I wonder how the place came to be so incredibly populated with so many different townships. What is the history of the people of the land?
|
Eons ago, an artificial alien intelligence we could call Nemesis, was built with the single purpose of destroying all earth related life, thats when the Eldren started terra forming worlds all across the universe.
Theres trillions of worlds, and in many of them evolution followed different paths.
The Eldren who runs this world, wanted to have a lot of different sentient species, so he literally created a stasis bubble and transported whole tribes and niches of creatures across the universe, hes immortal hes got the time.
Im writing atm the history of the Daemary, the first man (in their heads), they have great senses, are agile and long lived (better glands allow them to live like 80 years in the stone age), like elves! =)
heres what I wrote so far http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=79875

Does anyone else see a happy ghost and a dodo bird sitting on a branch???? Or am I just crazy?

Im in the process of creating this right now
But similar to earth, but theres more than 1 species of homo sentient, theres elf like humans, dwarf like humans, really small tree dwelling humans that could be mistaken by gnomes, and the like.
Im right now seeing this world as in the stone age, developing anaria one of the first centers of civilization, then I will focus on the other stuff.
But theres bound to be people everywhere, and as soon as large scale commerce and navigation kick in, those cities will be no brainer due to the geography and humans spreading.
Ill make another blog post when I finish sorting all cultural blocks, languages, and cool insights.

wowowowowow nice yo! I never though of doing this but it seems fun

Looks pretty well done. My nephew made one that looks like yours. I put it on my fridge and he's very proud of it. Maybe some day you could come here for a sleep over and you two could play with his legos.

Sounds like your nephew is a brilliant genius! haha

This is fun! the rivers and lakes are so cool. How do you come up with all the names for the places? O_o
...now I want to make a map..
|
That's pretty sick. My skills in paint are about nil. Which explains my suckiness at StarCraft.
|
one of the reasons theres so many coastal cities, is because the world is filled with giant bees (think 2 feet bees), and altho some regions dont suffer from that as others do, water = safe from giant bees in the primitive eye
