I decided to check out the Korean stream a few times during TSL3 to hear the korean casters reactions to stuff and the like, but by far my favourite, is of course when Chill disconnected. I found it so amusing i had to share it with you guys.

In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

Didn't one of the casters crash in GSL at one point? I can't remember when it happened, unless I'm getting it confused with another game.

Poor Chill. I feel bad for him. Hilarious reaction by the Korean casters though. "Chill! Chill! Ahhh!"
Even during difficult times, when I sat down to play the game, there were times where it felt like god has descended down and played [for me].

think you need a Korean IP or maybe it's a Korean SSN. anyways I think you need a Korean something.

Hehe, this is really helping me to get over the sadness of the situation, as a spectator I really mourned that Chill had to leave.

I do understand how extremely frustrating it must be for a player to be interrupted like that during a game. Shit happens and you have to have patience with lag for casters at times or similar interruptions, so I also think that it's part of what a player needs to "master the game". Because if your games aren't casted they won't get the same size of audience if they don't get an audience there won't be any sponsor money, no sponsor money means no prize money for the winner of the match.
Also if you want to be able to have a caster can't lag the game during a stream, then you/we should ask blizzard to make it so normal spectators won't cause the game to lag for anyone but themselves or something, (only refs should be tied to the game).

That's what I was thinking, he should have left immediately after the first instance of lag. In the FINAL game for 15 thousand dollars, come on.

To answer your stupid comment directly - I waited for confirmation from the tournament directors. They said we would try it because the lag had settled down. When it happened a second time, I waited until I reestablished a connection, and as soon as I saw the message to leave I was out with my microphone muted.

I don't know if this is correct, but I get the feeling that the Korean casters casted this game as if it were live, even though it was from a replay, that's pretty awesome.

That's what I was thinking, he should have left immediately after the first instance of lag. In the FINAL game for 15 thousand dollars, come on.

You shouldn't forget that these dollars are there because TL gets sponsors for these games, those sponsors want to have a lot of people viewing these matches and for that to be the case, you need good production and casters. You don't just remove a caster from a game unless you're 100% sure it's the right move.

To answer your stupid comment directly - I waited for confirmation from the tournament directors. They said we would try it because the lag had settled down. When it happened a second time, I waited until I reestablished a connection, and as soon as I saw the message to leave I was out with my microphone muted.

What happened was and shall always remain completely unavoidable aslong as the internet exists, anyone who gives you crap for it or complains about it, should get to understand networking before opening their mouth, trying to stay in once was the correct thing to do and leaving once you saw Nani getting all capslocks on you was also correct.

^^ but it will forever be one of those TSL memorable momments.

Why do you need confirmation from a tournament admin to leave the game? If you lag once you should have left.

It's common sense not to disrupt the gameplay, I'm not saying it's your fault, because it isn't. It was unavoidable, but staying in the game after you lagged once was a bad choice, because as we all know, look what happened next.

It's not a stupid comment, it's a valid point. you don't sit in a game for 15 seconds or so waiting for an answer on if you should leave because you're lagging. Especially in the finals of such a high profile tournament. Use your common sense and if it happens again I would hope you would make the right choice.

I'm not giving him crap about what happened, I'm trying to find out why he reacted the way he did to what happened.

(I have a Networking+ certification, my MCSE, MCITP and CCNA certs, so I know about networking.)

I mean it's in the past now, I'm just curious as to his train of thought.

Because he directs the tournament to balance the needs of the sponsors, viewers and players. If you ran the tournament, you would have players, obs, and casters leaving at the first sign of lag. That's a pretty stupid policy.

After I left, I never lagged again, so was it really a smart move to leave? What if I didn't lag after the first time? Then would have been stupid to stay?

I did use my common sense and it is a stupid comment. It's not my scope to direct a tournament. It's my scope to commentate, and that's what I did.

LOL. there's nothing to invalidate, and there isn't really an argument: you're just plain wrong. imagine a blip of lag appears in the game, and then is immediately gone -- 99% of the game's length is lag free. chill should immediately leave the second that blip happens? stop pretending like it should be such an open/shut case, cuz it ain't.

Posts like this bother me because you're still jabbing at Chill while appearing to handle the matter privately. You've defeated the purpose of taking it to the PMs by riling up the masses with that teasing response. It's in the same spirit as those people who start posts with "I'll probably get banned for this...". Either say what you want privately or say it in public, but don't try to pull this halfway nonsense.

wow reading this thread leaves me with confusion. i don't think its chill's responsibility to guarantee a lagfree connection, even if such a prizemoney is at stake. its not like he plugged his cable for fun to confuse naniwa. so why does it seem everyone is bugging him now? things like that can happen and if im not mistaken, thorzain dealt pretty cool with the situation. if naniwa was a less fiery lad this whole discussion here had never been happened and we could all thank chill for awesome casting amongst others in this great tournament. i'd hope everyone here took an imaginary walk in chill's shoes now before posting the next hate-comment.

LOL, I just realized it was avilo making those comments which makes it all the more funny.

The situation was handled in the best possible manner it could have.

Paused it quickly, followed by no lag so they gave chill's connection another try. It almost made it but when it happened again they had him get out since they didn't want to risk further disruption. I was sad we only had one caster at the end, so I was glad that they waited because it would have been worse to have 1 caster for most of the game. (IMHO)

Your understanding of the situation is flawless.

Your understanding of humor is flawless too obviously. Lots of people thought it was funny that the koreans typed it in and then deleted it i thought it was funny, others probably did too, you seem to think i was making some deep statement about it, or something against you...which i wasn't. chill out

You truly are the king of kings.

Bwahaha, Chill playing it...
Chill.

Poor Avilo, don't think there is much for him to say D:

Only in TL would a blog that normally is about laughing at korean casters and their awesome reactions turn into a serious debate about the reactions to lag XD

Anyways, got a good laugh out of it - especially because its not often that Chill's name is said in Korean <3 <3

It's my first time signing into TL in years, just to give chill the props he deserves for dropping a GOB reference.

This moment in the TSL was the only thing I remember. A culmination of 4 weeks of lagathons from TL encapsulated in one moment.

That's extremely kind of you. I responded to your PM as not to refute your flimsy argument in front of the masses. I also did it without a split infinitive.

Will you have my grammatically correct babies?
