I do understand how extremely frustrating it must be for a player to be interrupted like that during a game. Shit happens and you have to have patience with lag for casters at times or similar interruptions, so I also think that it's part of what a player needs to "master the game". Because if your games aren't casted they won't get the same size of audience if they don't get an audience there won't be any sponsor money, no sponsor money means no prize money for the winner of the match. Also if you want to be able to have a caster can't lag the game during a stream, then you/we should ask blizzard to make it so normal spectators won't cause the game to lag for anyone but themselves or something, (only refs should be tied to the game).

You shouldn't forget that these dollars are there because TL gets sponsors for these games, those sponsors want to have a lot of people viewing these matches and for that to be the case, you need good production and casters. You don't just remove a caster from a game unless you're 100% sure it's the right move.

Why do you need confirmation from a tournament admin to leave the game? If you lag once you should have left. It's common sense not to disrupt the gameplay, I'm not saying it's your fault, because it isn't. It was unavoidable, but staying in the game after you lagged once was a bad choice, because as we all know, look what happened next. It's not a stupid comment, it's a valid point. you don't sit in a game for 15 seconds or so waiting for an answer on if you should leave because you're lagging. Especially in the finals of such a high profile tournament. Use your common sense and if it happens again I would hope you would make the right choice.

I'm not giving him crap about what happened, I'm trying to find out why he reacted the way he did to what happened. (I have a Networking+ certification, my MCSE, MCITP and CCNA certs, so I know about networking.) I mean it's in the past now, I'm just curious as to his train of thought.

Because he directs the tournament to balance the needs of the sponsors, viewers and players. If you ran the tournament, you would have players, obs, and casters leaving at the first sign of lag. That's a pretty stupid policy. After I left, I never lagged again, so was it really a smart move to leave? What if I didn't lag after the first time? Then would have been stupid to stay? I did use my common sense and it is a stupid comment. It's not my scope to direct a tournament. It's my scope to commentate, and that's what I did.

LOL, I just realized it was avilo making those comments which makes it all the more funny. The situation was handled in the best possible manner it could have. Paused it quickly, followed by no lag so they gave chill's connection another try. It almost made it but when it happened again they had him get out since they didn't want to risk further disruption. I was sad we only had one caster at the end, so I was glad that they waited because it would have been worse to have 1 caster for most of the game. (IMHO)
