I especially like the contrast between that hard bassline and wet stabs @ 2:00, sounds amazing

A bit of synth with mostly drums til around 50 seconds > transition into a sample of lyrics or whatever you like > a brief pause, then start the wobble along with the rest of your synth and other sampled stuff added in. This is pretty much dubstep 101, straightforward. I liked your song, but the build up and suspense is what makes the drop sound so good. I am starting to like more relaxed dubstep so I might be a bit biased.

Another good way to learn some fun synth patterns would be to look up some music from games and follow a similar pattern. Zelda: Intro to this dubstep song is Requiem for a Dream Theme Song Original: Part that he copies is ~2 min into the video

I sort of prefer just having dubstep elements / drops but having the freedom to do whatever I think sounds good in the meantime. I try not to "filter" myself by following rules as much as possible Its the right mindset. No one is gonna get anywhere by copying stuff thats allready out there. All the artists linked in these topics with people saying "it should be like this" - they didnt get where they are by copying whats already done, honestly.

Copying is different from drawing inspiration and changing small things in a song makes it a completely different song. Just like new upcoming bands mix styles together or take one thing they liked from their favorite band and mixed it with another style. I was just trying to give some advice on structure of songs, because I felt like his latest songs just starts almost in the middle instead of having an intro that builds into the main part. Either way, songs need a direction almost like a story needs a plot. I actually think his songs are above average from what I've heard of most underground dubstep songs. His other song on Souncloud even seems like it has some Skrillex high wobble sound. Either way, keep making dubstep and I'll keep critiquing it. Thanks for the contribution.
